Tremendous win. Just hope Dunks is ok.
As for tonight, heart over head I’ll say 2-1 Latics
With darf vader in charge we struggle to top league one.
One of the daftest comments on here ever. Paul Cook would struggle to top a league he’s already won. Brilliant.
If I’m Cook, and we stay up, I walk on the pitch last game show everyone my arse and walk off.
He makes mistakes but the way some of our fans are treating him is a disgrace.
Cook can’t win at the moment no matter what he does. Paul Jewell is quite rightly remembered fondly amongst those of us around during his time, but everyone seems to have forgotten his regular screaming fits at referees and 4th officials. A quick google search will give you several examples but Jewell managed back in the era when yellow cards didn’t exist though so maybe he didn’t make a disgrace of himself. Then of course there’s his regular defensive displays away at big ranking teams and his comments about us being Little Wigan punching above our weight. The players mustn’t have read the papers then though like they do now whenever Cook says something negative.
Of course Cook also shouted at referees and 4th officials in League One but we were winning games then so again everybody seemed to miss it. Maybe it was a breath of fresh air from the robotic Martinez era when he just used to stand there with his arms folded for 90 minutes regardless of decisions or performances because we didn’t like that and he was regularly criticised for it, not to mention his comments in the press about ‘positives’. Why did he not just come out and say we were rubbish like Cook does because we wouldn’t possibly criticise that would we?
Now this is not me comparing the relative successes of Jewell, Martinez and Cook but simply just a few examples of the hypocritical and fickleness of football supporters especially those that come under the WAFC banner. You can’t please a Wiganer.
On Saturday our front four was Lowe, Pilks, Jacobs and Moore. Regardless of whether you or I agree with the four or not they were the 4 in a 4231.
It almost seems like we give them free reign to roam around at times rather than stick to the left, middle or right because we don’t play “out and out wingers” but then again….not many sides do. The likes of Gary Teale and David Lee are long gone.
According to Portsmouths website they played 4231 last season with Lowe as part of the three. We play…..4231 with Lowe as part of the three.
I blame Cook.
Slept on yesterday, the first half wasn’t good to watch at all. We had a patch in the second half when we played really well, driven by Pilkington, we also showed a fantastic level of commitment defending the lead at the end. Player wise picks was good, Ballogan looked steady, Lowe looked lightweight and made bad decisions at key times (like when he should have pulled the ball back in the first half) but he did contribute well for the goal, geldhart, I think he may have a touch of the Bertie big bollocks about him, see him moaning near the end when the ball went across the goal instead of going chasing the ball down into the corner?
Biggest thing is the the three points, hard fought against a tough but not great sideJust wish some manager could see what Cook saw on Lowe and take him off our hands.
Possibly one of our worst signings ever.
Bold statement when you consider some names of the past. Jeff Peron, Leigh Jenkinson, Brian McLaughlin, Julius Agahowa, Pasquale Bruno to name a few.
Really impressed with him
WTF was Joffy doing in stoppage time trying to beat 2 men?? It’s little inexperienced things like that why he probably doesn’t get picked week on week. He’s a striker so possibly be was trying to score a goal.
What an idiot. He should have taken the ball to the corner and wasted time like his fellow striker Kieffer Moore did and probably most other strikers would have done. He lost the ball and 15 seconds later they crossed the ball into our box and won a corner from which they could have snatched a point. Schoolboy mistake.
The points scorers for Match nineteen versus Millwall are –horc – 9682 – (43 off ) 5 points
garswood_latic – 9525 – (114 off ) 3 points
Eastender – 9473 (166 off ) 1 pointFIX!!
1st half 1 effort on goalHow many efforts on goal did they have?
Naismith played where he has played most of his games for us and as usual didn’t let us down.
We only ever play 1 up top and everyone says Moore is the best (i disagree)
Lowe…..i’ll give you that.
Great win. Balogbin (whatever) looks solid and I would probably pick him above Dunks.

Sides below us. Provided we win then they are still below us, but we are that bit closer. If we lose, then we are still in touching distance.

Says it will be his biggest achievement in management if he keeps the Tics up this season, well a bigger achievement and being a bigger man would be Cook owning up to all the cock ups he’s made with shocking substitutions and tactics which has got us in this mess in the first place, but he won’t.
I’m quite sure Cook is well aware of the mistakes he’s made and equally sure admitting to them in the public domain serves no useful purpose other than to give the likes of you and others on here an even bigger stick to beat him with.
He’s at that stage now where he can’t win with some no matter what he says/does.
Are they ever? Great excuse for a load of reality tv watching (insert your own description here) to go and watch a game of soccer
