My mate is a Bolton season ticket holder and he drove me and my mate down to the game today so we could have a few drinks. To be honest he said the same thing about us being the better team and thought we knocked it about quite well. He had one massive criticism and said that our team were shot shy and that we were in good positions and failed to shoot. He like every other person in the ground saw that we had a definate penalty not awarded but hey what can you do. I stayed till the bitter end(basically because i was getting a lift from the Boltoner who was loving it.)
Every time we lose it seems that people intent on posting negativity on this board. I ask where were they monday and tuesday?I believe he dropped Moreno today because he won nothing in the air against knight and ricketts when we played at the DW.
I can see why everyone is annoyed because we lost 4 nil but it SHOULD have been so different. The fact we had a clear penalty not given, the fact that before every goal Davies committed a foul on one of our players and not once was booked, yet scharner did the same thing and got booked. We SHOULD have scored before half time but for N’Zogbia to miss a sitter.
We lost 4-1 to Bolton when Steve Bruce was our manager as well. The substitutions baffled me also, but you have to think once we were 3 down, there was no coming back and he rested Rodallega.
Did you hear the reaction to Owen Coyle by the Bolton fans? They were beaten by a team struggling very badly in Sunderland 4 nil and they were behind their manager. Come on lets get behind the manager and team Tuesday night.Who are you James? Winding me up.
As for the banner holder We need to get behind the team
at this time not criticise the manager, what good is it doing?I saw the fella with the banner in es3. What an idiot, I was intrigued to see his reaction at the end of the game but I think he had gone.
I thought this thread was aimed at another idiot holding up a Martinez out sign. What a complete clown, at the end of the game he didn’t seem to unhappy.
As for scharner he had a good game, he would be a top class player if he had that bit extra about him when he has the ball. We played very well last night and hop it will continue into Bolton gameThanks mate
I was sat in that area and heard a song about the guy in the purs end wearing a turban or something…all for giving the away fans some abuse but there is a line. I remember a few years ago down at West Ham an old man was set next to me and the West Ham were calling him uncle albert. But as you all said it was classic calling that fat cockney lad.
me, the missus and some of our friends are going, we’re driving down though, last time I parked quite a way off the ground but if memory serves me right away fans can park very close to the ground
Maybe a touch of sarcasm there. I went a couple of seasons ago to Birmingham but the missus was sick and ended up leaving at half time to hear that we lost 3-2 in the car on the way home… not a good day.
Yes, problem is we don’t have a Steven Gerrard to attack with Hugo
Nice to actually have some people you can speak about the team on here without clueless people posting rubbish. Are you going to Brimingham? In theory, Hugo is wasted out wide as Filmoss said he scores the majority of the goals in a central position. Hugo is most effective when he has the freedom upfront but to I don’t think he can hold the ball up or win the majority of long balls played up to him. If he plays up front he can influence the game more. Have you noticed as well in the past couple of games at home games when we attack Moreno, Rodallega and N’Zogbia have been spaced apart with Hugo and N’Zogbia hogging the touchlines whilst Moreno was playing right down the middle. Maybe it could be an option to play them slightly closer together.
As for the point I raised before about Scharner, when he plays in midfield he helps win the majority of headers (unless hes up against a freak like Diop), we seem to always gift the opposition the ball when we play the ball long either from the goalkeeper or by just a long ball.
The players we have excite me, and we could be such a force if we can get it together.I didn’t see his reaction, maybe it was because he would have to play a bit deeper. Jrfatfan I agree we do have a decent side, once we click I think we will begin to pick up more points. A big positive for me is that apart from the game on Sunday we seem to have tightened up the defence.
On the notion of the formation I think that we can play 451, but only with Scharner in the midfield. He gives us some extra height, and it means that we could possibly play Hugo down the middle on his own, with Moses and N’Zogbia on the wings.
My only criticism from Sunday was our attacking play. Does anyone notice that Hugo and Charles try to do too much with the ball themselves rather than using other players and lose the ball when a simple ball is on. I don’t think it helps sometimes when the crowd gets on the players back when we lay the ball back into the midfield area and look to build some pressure.
I’m ever the optimist and I believe we can pick up 3 points at Birmingham. We have generally bounced back after poor results well, i.e the games against West Ham, Chelsea and Wolves when we have needed a win we have stepped up and hopefully they will on Saturday.Still scouted by our club, mostly the same scouts as when potato head was here. Diame and McCarthy bad players then? …Didn’t think so!
Ok so Rodallega, Palacios, Valencia to name a couple are garbage then…. come on man get a grip!
Yes thats what I meant Griff.
VAT we shall have to disagree, but I do agree about Boyce very unfortunate to be replaced in the team.
