still here and just posted. Not my finest work, i’ll admit, but it shows i’m still about.
it’s not exactly the place for reasoned argument and debate any more, but some things still provoke and amuse.
I do suggest some folk on here should take a large dose of reality with their morning rice crispies, tho. Just because we aren’t pushing for a top 4 slot doesn’t mean we need to get all suicidal.

hooray. A thread that contains some common sense. I was at the point of not bothering reading this board ‘cos of the unrealistic idiots who spout their drivel on it.
Well done Scholes. You’ve brought me back from the brink.
last night was a good performance, that was only let down by a freak own goal and an opportunistic strike that 9 times out of 10 would have hit someone’s legs and gone to safety.
We were a threat going forward until we let ourselves down with the final ball, but that is wholly down to confidence and the players not taking the responsibility of being the one to go for goal and miss. If we were sitting pretty in the table we would have made more of these opportunities and won the game. But that is the nature of this “fear football” that the media and the Sky money has created.
Somebody, somewhere has to try and survive in this league by doing something other than “grinding out” the odd 1-0 win and bore draw……and it looks like it’s us; and i’m willing to go with it because if it does work, maybe, just maybe, we can attract better footballers to little old Wigan and not the usual journeymen who ply their trade with any of the next crop of struggling clubs.
If Jose Mourinho was our manager, and Didier Drogba was our striker we would win more games. But they aren’t and never will be, but if we try and alter people’s preconceptions of the club by trying something other than “hoofball” it might just work. It might not – but i don’t give a toss, because at least we tried something different.

There. Got that off mi chest :)

I wondered how you would react to that performance. Clutching at more straws than a man whose just bought 8,000 McDonalds milkshakes. Admit it, we were good. That’s what we are trying to do, and when it works it’s fantastic. Yes we need a plan B, but lets get the plan A across to the team first.
No Melchiot = no bone idle defending = no goals conceded
              Marvellous!

i just can’t believe there is anyone at Wigan Athletic who would vetoe a perfectly good plan at the last minute purely on grounds of cost ;)

yeah, we’d be in a much better position with elephant head  . He’s just spent 40 million, got a far better squad than us and has a whole point extra. Yeah, get him back

a plan B would be great!
N’Zogbia was having no joy on the right as they were ganging up with 3 against him. So move him to the left up against that fat git – would that not have been worth a go?
And everybodys favourite striker, Scotland, has a good 1st half against Stoke and then gets looked over in favour of the super flyweight Sinclair.

with the names mentioned there, it sounds good to me. I’ll bring my boots for the rest of the season!

i think it’s fair to say thats one journo who got a good shoeing there. And rightly so. Do their editors not occasionally check what turd these people write……….. no, obviously not. Wouldn’t you just love to bump into one of these prats in the brick or somewhere and “educate” them a little?

i’m afraid most of our fans are complete planks and unless we are winning every game 5-0 at half time and then signing Messi, Kaka and Nathan Ellington ( :o ) in the interval, they will boo them off!

could do with one of these smilies that just shakes it’s head. I’d use it a lot.
Yes, Scotland is kak, but Gomez has been running the show for weeks! (he should have buried that at the end tho!!)

i can remember that bloke against Walsall vividly. I’ve never seen owt like it – imagine the papers if he did that now!! It was a mental day and i spent most of it wondering if my black eye would die down before i got home and my mum gave me one to match! They were bleedin nutters!

I always chuckle to myself when i think of THAT game against Reading and one well known wit sat down after having a crafty cig and missing 2 goals, casually asking “have i missed owt?” Comedy timing at it’s finest

methinks its players who are in their comfort zone and arent too keen on learning any more.
I don’t know how its going to pan out, but i’ll stick with it in the knowledge that i’m still sure there are 5 or 6 teams that will be worse than us over a full season
