Anybody who thinks things are alright is absolutely deluded. Or maybe they’re a club plant? It’s been known for the club to have ‘influencers’ on forums.

Football is supposed to be entertainment. Something for the working man, as it was, to go to for enjoyment at the end of a hard working week. A release, something to take your mind off the daily grind.

What we have at Latics, is an absolute farce. An owner who doesn’t seem interested, a manager who is nowhere near a manager. And a team of never will he’s…we haven’t got any hasbeens, just a load of young players who are NOT good enough.

This unbeaten in how many games…oh please! Its been dire. Nil nils against teams that Paul Cook’s Latics would have smashed 4 or 5 goals in against. And easy. Yet we hardly had a shot. Very very poor.

But today, that’s alarm bells ringing. A Cambridge team who had lost their last 6 games. Beat us 2 nil. Wow…thats really bad. I think we’ve sank to new lows today. If Maloney has anything about him, he would walk. Buy he won’t.
The club…management and coaching staff needs a COMPLETE overhaul. Rioch should go too. He’s scouted these players…absolutely shocking. The only player we’ve brought in who has potential to be a good signing, is Aimson. The squad is still awfully short and threadbare. Lacking in several places. That’s so worrying.

We are in serious danger with a manager who is poor. He’s same as he was at Hibernian. Trying to paint the Mona Lisa with crayons. Any manager or coach worth their salt works with the players they have. Don’t try to do what you’re not good at, play to your strengths.

I was never entertained last season either, I was bored to tears by the sideways and backwards shite. Not renewing this season, it’s the best choice I could have made. The club is dying…I think we will sink into the relegation quagmire if we don’t make a drastic change here.
I’d love us to get a nasty shithouse type manager in. Someone who won’t mess about and will call a spade a spade. Who? Big Mick?

I’d have him over this clown. Any day. Failing him…Big Duncan would come, I reckon. No fuss, no bull, just sort it out.

Can’t drag on, make the change now. A total change as well. No in-house crap. A fresh canvas…a new artist.

Theyll still count ST holders who don’t bother going though.

It’s not the football I grew up loving. It bores me.

Maybe I just don’t like the modern game anymore?

Just got back and if you think Maloney’s the man then come off the meds.
M.Smith centre half to allow chamber’s push up ? seriously?, Taylor on his last legs 15-20 to go ? …..doesn’t bring Stones on like for like ?

Look Maloney’s shit, grade 1 turd 4 x 0-0’s in 5 ? Utter clueless get shut get shut now.
I’m sick of it tbh that was wank

I’ve got to be honest, since I’ve stopped going, my head feels a lot better and my BP has come down.

Listen, the whole thing of football at the moment pisses me off. It’s all about not conceding rather than trying to score. It’s supposed to be Entertainment and I cannot remember being entertained much by Latics sides over the past 3 or 4 seasons. It’s been a shitshow, and it’s got worse and worse, year by year.

Maloney is not a manager. A coach at best. But for his club history, he’s no different to Kolo The Klown.

My matchdays are taken up with different things now and I can honestly say I don’t miss it. Sad after 38 years, I know.

I don’t even know who our next game is against? Can’t say I’m bothered, to be quite honest.

There are far more better qualified people on this board to discuss style of play and tactics than me and i follow the simplistics of the game followed by many a great manager back when i started watching football almost 50 years ago.
For me after watching past two games is that Latics current style is keep the ball at all costs , lose possession then win a throw in and start again and follow same pattern but never attack unless something is on which it rarely is because they hardly ever get near the goal.
All any team has to do to nullify this tactic in my view is to high press and get in faces and possession will be lost and hit then high intensity balls into the area and get the breaks.
We have got away with it these past three games but i bet we dont tomorrow night unless some changes are made and a go for it attitude is adopted like the Bristol Rovers game.
There is pace in the team so why not use it and get the ball wide and whip quick fire crosses in and see what happens , its old school and not cool but FFS its far easier on the eye than this current rubbish and so simple to express to players.
The whole game from top to bottom sickens me at the moment anyway , the corporate running out and lining up , the faux badge kissing, thwe ridiculous group huddles, do it in the dressing room FFS , the over coaching and analysis to avoid defeat and the sly goading of home/away by players towards fans with hands held to ears bull that we see across the game whenever a goal is scored.
Add to that the rolling around , patting the turf whenever they are tapped to get somebody sent off which sadly has spread to the lower divisions now needs dealing with by the authorities.
Had enough of it all , better places and things to do with my time.

Very good points, and I agree.

The problem is though if we do manage to start whipping balls into the box is we haven’t got the player who will get on the end of them. The last one we had was Will Keane. And if we are going to try that, we definitely need to get more people into the box.

Modern football…is shite. Everyone is so stuck on playing the ‘Pep Way’. It’s not for me. I like to see wing play, balls whipped in…

            …and two up front.

Piss off with the 3 centre backs as well. Be a bit more positive.

Bloody entertain us. Let the shackles off the players. Stop over analysing and working on the opposition. Worry about ourselves doing it right.

Only went today because my lad didn’t go.

Won’t be going to another game before new year now.

It’s awful and I’ve better ways to spend my time. I’ve just got into crafts and model making.

I’m getting older and can’t be arsed with the cowd.

You know what though? Personally speaking, I actually thought that Maloney and the owner would prove me wrong. That they’d surprise me by doing certain things. When we got into July and word was going about that this player might be available and it seemed we were waiting for players to become out of contract, and that we could bring some clever and experienced signings in. I was thinking Sarcavic, Sharp, players of that ilk. But no. It never happened.
I’d really expected Maloney to make a mockery of me not renewing for the first time in 38 years. I thought I’d be crawling back at Christmas on a half season ticket. But no.

I’d said to my dad that he and my lads renewing wasn’t a good idea. My eldest is already regretting it, sating he’s missing the next couple of games.
The whole thing is an utter shitshow. How long will they let it run for?

Anyone still forking out for that fans fund bo**ocks needs their head testing.

I totally agree that the club feels dead from the feet up. Club has no soul. It’s nothing like the club we were, only in name and badge. It’s awful.

Done until they start doing things properly and get a proper manager in to do things properly.

Manager before this fella was a joke and this fella is proving just as bad. Buy I feel it’s all about stalling tactics…not many managers would work under such constraints. They know this. Most other managers would only come of they were backed.

Maloney is either too stubborn or too thick to stand up to them.

It’s not going to end well. And you know what? I’m not missing going one bit. That’s the sad thing after jusy short of 40 years.

Wingers who don’t take men on…
                      Strikers who don’t score…

                      It’s anti football this.

Cold weather coming. Fans are going to drop off like mad. Can’t blame anyone? Its dire. My lads went with my dad tonight and the people around them are loyal fans. Even they are on about having a break. Attendances are going to absolutely fall. Was there need to even have the South stand open tonight? No. It was shocking how it looked on telly.

Exeter and Peterborough coming up now and I think both teams will have more about them.

Apparently Rankine has struggled to have a shower after the game. The kit man was busy sorting out discarded kit on the floor…and Rankine couldn’t get past him. 🤣

                        Maloneys sneakers…..

Probably paid more for them than he did his centre forward. 🤣

Honestly, watched it on red button. It was like watching Soccer Aid…but without the goals.
Was going to go on Saturday, but I just can’t justify paying to watch that absolute poor, garbage. If Rankine is a winger, I was Stanley Matthews in my prime. Can’t take a man on, let alone get past him. Stealing a living.

Passing was short…hospital balls. Come on, it’s f***in basics, that.

I think that Kerr and Aimson are a fairly solid CB pairing that has potential to be a fine base to build on.

But…what’s in front of them isn’t good enough. I’ve not seen enough of Weir yet, so he may prove to be what we need in midfield.
Jury is out on Rankine and the fella on the left. And Hugill needs to show a lot more. Asgaard was good early on but faded, as per usual.
No criticism for Chambers and Carragher, both did their job. Tickles kicking distribution is shocking.

I like the fact we’ve brought Glenn Whelan in as assistant manager. Vastly experienced guy who was a very good midfielder at Stoke and Villa. Let’s see what he can bring to the table.

Everyone seems to think that Maloney has been hard done to and not been able to go for the players he wanted to go for.

But what if he has? What if these are the players he and Gregor Rioch earmarked for us to sign?

Maybe Maloney is just a shite manager? Certainly, his tactics and playing style is awful. And everyone raves about Rioch as well. But is he that brilliant?

I will also say that if the owner and chairman are in anyway serious about the club ever progressing, they need to seriously…

                                  1. Come into the club with a new broom and a fresh outlook. Appoint a CEO to oversee the running of things. And around him, put in a team of people who will help develop the club and improve the club in many different ways from the top down and things like managing the football side of things, through to improving Customer Services at the club, the open-ness to the fans and the creation of an open club where supporters opinions and ideas CAN be heard more and responded and maybe even adhered to. We used to be a very open club..we felt friendlier and far more open as a club, as opposed to now where it all feels closed and rather cloak and dagger.

                                  2. A rethink on team management. If we were to change our manager, I’d want a totally fresh outlook, rather than someone who already has club links. I think we need a completely new outlook of an experienced manager to come in and totally overhaul the squad. But that will cost money? Yes it will. But we’ve already made the mistake of going ultra ultra cheaply. There’s cutting your cloth accordingly, and then there’s putting a thong on a gorilla…we need to admit we’ve made mistakes and to start again with a fresh canvas and a new brush.
Just no in-house appointments where cronyism will rule. Someone new to clear the decks and start afresh. NOT Neil Critchley. He plays the same tedious sideways and backwards crap as this current manager, so no thanks. Bring in a manager who plays more upbeat football, 2 up front and who isn’t afraid of going direct when needed.
