I’m not one for singling out players as they are More intensity and better organisation most certainly last night particularly at the back.
The forward line gave it their all but still lacked the class needed to unlock a championship standard defence and the same old issues remain and we all know who they are.
I think Maloney will have to have a look at the development squad and see if there is ANY young striker worth a go immediately because without some wins we are only going one way!

I’m not one for singling out players as they were all trying their hearts out last night no doubt about that.
More intensity and better organisation most certainly last night particularly at the back but with more intensity comes more injury risk and was gutted for the brilliant Martin Kelly , hope it’s not too serious.
The forward line gave it their all but still lacked the vitalclass needed to unlock a championship standard defence and the same old issues and we all know where the problems are.
The free kick near the end summed it up for me , just not good enough , a schoolboy would have down a better job with that and I hope the new manager dished out some words.
At least the crowd seemed pleased which shows how bad it’s been for the past 4 months and the owners need to stay with the new manager regardless of the results now as he will certainly get the time as an ex player.

Far too fickle up at Sunderland for me.
Grigg and Power were both very instrumental players in the league 1 promotion seasons they featured in but struggled up there in the same division.
Strange that they excelled here but not up there.

Clinging to the hope that second half season malaise kicks in soon with some mid table sides who with no chance of relegation or promotion and then switch off a bit.
Even then with a tightened defence will we get the ball out of our half ?
Blackburn game coming up , a ground we have only ever won at once in our history so a draw is the best I’m expecting especially at present.
I wish the new manager well and I have always had a lot of time for Barrow, his management in 1994-95 saving the club from relegation from the football league in many respects paved the way for the golden era under Whelan.
Not much to grasp at really when all said and done and my grim feeling left by being outclassed by a very poor Hull city team at the turn of the year won’t go away.
            Really hope I’m wrong

i doubt any club would pay fees now if they are out of contract in summer as they then become very cheap with only signing on fees to sort.
Club already in transition as far as i am concerned and no use making any other changes management wise now even if results are poor which is what i am expecting despite the recent changes.

At least they have a few new players in and all with something to prove.

All I ask of SM is some signs of improvement before the inevitable relegation then consolidate next season building for the future.
Need to try some young players and try and build club that way.
No use sacking him after 9 games because it’s very likely the losing run will continue.
The team just isn’t good enough and no further chopping and changing of management will change that !

The players on the pitch are simply not good enough for Championship level.
Low investment last summer was the killer for me, a change of manager won’t change anything , why will it ?

Well said CW , not many will disagree with any of that.
Final nail for me was when we made relegation ‘rival’ Dull city look like Real Madrid just after New Year.
Can’t see any incomings now of any note and Chris zee and one or two others should be tried out rather than expensive loan signings.
No use wasting any more money as these team is all but relegated , not in any way good enough for this level.
I hate to say it but our glory era which has stretched from 1997 to now may well be finally at an end.

Some great posts above , CL the best board on the net for Latics.
We all at the moment can only speculate, but a sinking side in January that hasn’t been strengthened for what now appears to be two windows says everything.
Sacking Leam was pointless and a total waste of money in my view.
Not sure this lot know what they are doing really , ok buying a club and walking round the pitch , arms aloft and scarfed up soaking the applause up, another one actually maintaining and sustaining it and running it well.
I hope I am wrong and a flood of money for players arrives however I ( and this is the best scenario now in my view)fear we might have to prepare for many years of league 1 and 2 football or even worse than that going forward.
I hate being negative but things now look far worse off the pitch than on it
Now and that Is bloody saying something at the moment isn’t it ?
I share the many intelligent points of view put above ,some of which were being said last summer amid all the back slapping.

Agree with all of the above however no use throwing good money after bad especially if we have none.
Go to the youth team and get some of those kids in now, been saying it for weeks , season is gone now , this team has failed now and only way is long term view.
If the club has to be self sufficient then youth is the only way so get as many in now !!

As mentioned previously in this post the team needs far more than just another promising front man!
Midfield and defence is screaming for improvement and the clock is ticking.
You never think history will repeat itself but this season is a rerun of the events of 2016-17 in my opinion.
