They had a do early doors at trying to smash Berkely Square with bottles and planks.
Not sure where they got there baseball bats from for the attack around Sams/Pear Tree, somebody mention our local Poles might have been involved.
Thing is with these foreign lads, they like to go in armed, faces covered, attack anyone and anything and rarely encounter any fightback, as the people they are attacking aren’t like that. Hopefully what bigroy says is true and some of them got filled in. There certainly wasn’t anyone in their away support in the ground that looked capable of causing trouble anyroad. As for the away match, it’s the lads that are there staying over in smaller numbers which will have to watch out for these type of attacks. When theres a thousand Wiganers on the day all together there’ll be nowt.
they brought fifty or so harmless looking fans so it was surprising to hear loads of sirens on a par with New York city before the game and to hear they caused so much trouble!
I suppose it highlights just how well behaved our supporters are both home and abroad and we should all be very proud of that!Team starting to gel and unbeaten at home so far!
Carson and Jean the standouts tonight and it looks like we may have found a striker in young Powell so it all seems very positive before we play Rawverrrs on Sunday. After what I saw last night I would say his Everton team has a chance of the Premier league title ( no joke-serious!!!!) because Everton were absolutelyoutstanding last night and would have beaten anyone .
Really, and do you include the second half in your “absolutely outstanding” comment when they lost it 2-0 and the Toon also hit the woodwork and missed two sitters.??
I remember us being absolutely outstanding under Bobby for 45, 60, 70 mins and coming off the pitch after 90 mins with no points.
Lets see how the season progresses for him and the club he has always dreamed of managing. B)
If some of his players hadn’t been such a greedy bar stewards they could have been out of sight before they pulled those goals back.
Face he has taken them up a level since Moyes left and done some very good business in the transfer market .
I agree let’s see how he progresses but if nobody can take the ball off his team and they carry on like this then who knows what they could achieve.
January will a tough month for them with plenty of interest in Barkley,Baines and Coleman no doubt. After what I saw last night I would say his Everton team has a chance of the Premier league title ( no joke-serious!!!!) because Everton were absolutelyoutstanding last night and would have beaten anyone .
the myth was dispelled years ago – I once sat in a New York hostelry and had analysis from a local about what was wrong with our team and players!!America is about as far removed from football as you can get so when you have become a topic stateside you know you have hit the big time exposure wise.
our crowds are bigger too when you compare the warriors playing a major semi final last night and a crowd of 14,600 turned up and I reckon Leeds brought at least 4000 !
BTW if your middle aged ,toothless and fat don’t try and get down with the Brigantes kids and do that daft song they sing when they are winning – saw two of them last night and it wasn’t a good look.
another thing how come when you see newspaper shots of Wigan RL fans you never seem to know any?
IShould be a football banning order but rather worrying because this new lot seem so unruly and will get filled in at the rougher grounds if they behave like this.
It’s up to the uostanding supporters to kick their scrawny arses when they start throwing flares and gobbing off outside grounds putting other peoples safety at risk etc -dangerous and out of order !a friend of mine said there was a little ‘mob’ of about 40 little teenagers trying to get it on after the game.
Cries of ” are we havin it ” then a cry of ” their here ” they started to run off from absolutely nothing because there was nobody there.
where have these embarrassments sprung from?don’t panic soft pap they brought on as subs £60 million up against a defence that cost 2 bob chill out[/quo
best post I have seen so far at least our club has a soul -something City lost a few years ago in my opinion.
They can belt out that Blue moon rubbish and get nostalgic about Helen the bell but we all know that without that Middle east money they would still be struggling to avoid relegation every year.
At least we don’t have to worry about a trophy that has become so devalued even small clubs play weakened sides.Di Matteo favourite for the job -no smoke without fire.
Lennon has a good job possibly for life at a far bigger club who are in the champions league .
so compare that to life at a club with fickle deluded fans and probably the one of worst teams in the premier league when you weigh it all up against the othersnothing beats a muffin man large meat and potato -best pies in Wigan!
grim stuff yesterday but lets take the positives from this game and the season so far.
we are averaging about 1.5 points a game so on current ratio we will hit around 69 points which was enough to reach the play offs last season.
Unbeaten at home-when could we last say that by late September?
Clean sheet
Superb defensive performance -shotton and Barnett the shining lights
Carson-must have saved a few points alreadythe game wasnt pretty but I too celebrated with a nice pint of lager that also tasted sweet knowing we had ground out a win and will have to do this many times over to have a chance .
Should start with ‘ how long before top four bob’ because it has taken just over 4 weeks.
Absolutely made up for him despite the fact his teams drove me mad at times I have to say I am genuinely pleased for him.if you got bt broadband and are a customer of sky…..all it takes is quick phone call to bt and tell them your sky viewing card number and hey presto free bt sport for 1 year just in time for the match!!!
But if the wife knows that, she’ll expect me to watch it at home. Where’s the fun in that?!
I’ll sort out that deal tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up ;)
Watched it gratis online which was fair enough especially having had a fraught day trying to arrange it.
rang the company this aft on and they wanted £15 connection fee and £15 per month as I couldn’t book it through my provider sky.Solid performance and a great point in poor conditions.A clean sheet speaks for itself and it would be churlish to critisise anyone tonite after that battling performance.
The fans were brilliant throughout.
Onwards and upwards !!!!
Loads of effort and hard graft although a little short on quality from both teams but who cares a solid hard won point.
another bit of history made!On another point I had to laugh today when a national newspaper said that the 2500 we are taking over to Belgium is one of our biggest ever away followings?????
Nearly choked on my muffin man pie at that -we used to take twice that in the old division 4 and could anything beat the 25000 who travelled to Everton in January 1980?You forget that we didn’t exist until 2005 though so 2500 is one of our biggest followings considering the poor away followings since our maiden PL season.
No doubt the thousands of empty seats there tonight will be our fault should we win. I’m expecting comments such as “feeling at home in a half empty stadium” should we win and “well out of their depth” should we lose.
Swansea of course will be brutally unlucky to lose 5-0.
ah I forgot about how you do not exist unless you are a member of the Premier league – so true ,pick up any national newspaper and try to find stories about lower division clubs -we don’t exist anymore in their eyes.
Swansea are starting to remind me of Latics ,on a dreadful run over the past 15 games although very pleasing on the eye.
I have a feeling this season could be very tough for them as every club will show them complete respect like they did to us last year.
Still the media darlings so I wonder who will be the new whipping boys-my money is in Stoke -
