Well it’s 2-2 on this thread and I maintain he didn’t look half bad, no world beater but let’s just say I’d start with him before Grant Holt.
Tez, Tavares would have been better placed sticking with doing harmonies on ‘Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel’ than charading as a footballer last night. Even his finish had something schoolyard about it :)
I heard that they’d done some damage in the Pear Tree. Anyone shed any light?
I hope I’m wrong, I really do but I can’t help feeling those odds are seriously wrong!Yeah, I was thinking that. 11/2 Maribor is generous to say the least. I really hate to back against us but since there should be no sentiment in betting, some things are hard to ignore.
Ha ha, I had no idea it was non-alcoholic! I remember thinking it was strange that fans were drinking beer at a football match but after the hellish trip from the hotel to the ground in pi$$ing down rain and doing a couple of laps of the stadium because of poor stewarding hence missing the first five minutes of the game, we didn’t bother getting one. I bet loads that were drinking it had no idea it was 0% :P
I have just organised for the team sheets to be available in the Supporters Club prior to the Maribor game next week.
Apparently the originals are on UEFA Paper and the Club will try to get these for us, but at worst there will be photocopies there.
I have to talk to the committee but I will probably ask for 50p minimum donation for each sheet which we will donate to a Charity.
Hope this is OK
That’s Bronxbomber’s new conservatory up the swannee, then!
I ain’t making anything out of selling these, as I said, they cost me £1.00 each plus the postage from Holland and at least they are ORIGINALS given out at the game, not photocopies..Or like the ones Garswood put the links to on the site, which were only printed after the game.
I think he was only joking mate, it was on a plate really :) ;)
I think Paul Kendrick’s fingers are still feeling the effects of Belgian 9% beer after reading that :S
Owen Coyle is reported to have said – “When he he’s fit and available he is in the Wigan Athletic side, there’s no doubt about that.’
Apart from having a bit of a stutter at the start of it, why would he need to state the obvious? To quash any rumours of unrest, maybe?
I don’t know if it’s good or bad but somehow the bookies have us as slight favourites, Latics 6/4, Waregem 13/8. They mustn’t have watched the Leicester game
Of course if you want to guarantee a Latics win, just get your mortgage on Waregem to win :)
More than happy with midtable this season. No point us going up to battle relegation again. Highlight of season will be European trips. Nowts gonna beat us winning FA cup and now a once in a lifetime chance of watching us in Europe. Ill die a happy man whatever happens now.I agree 100% with every single sentence in this short but absolutely nail on head post. Well said ;)
I have 3 season tickets, but my daughter and her mate are coming to the game. What is the chance, do you think, of them getting 2 tickets.I have one season ticket and need four. I rang the ticket office yesterday to ask when they went on sale and they said keep an eye on the website. I asked if there’d be plenty and the girl said yes. After reading the info on the website, I’m twitching a bit. Hotel and ferry booked, fingers crossed now
Very good, cap doffed ;)
I have a feel that this one will be quite popular – first game in Europe, fairly close etc etc. Rubin will be a no-no for most, and I think that the 600+ tickets we have for Maribor, a long way t go and just before Xmas, will be fine. Those factors will make Waregem even more attractive. However – as has been said on another thread – not everyone can afford either the money or perhaps more importantly the time to travel abroad for a couple of days.
Those of us that can go are privileged. We should NEVER use it in future to say “I went to Belgium – I’m a better supporter than you”. You may shake your heads now that how could anyone even think that – but I’ll bet in years to come it becomes a faux badge of perceived honour.
I think you may be right on your assumptions of how attractive the game could be in relation to the other fixtures.
I understand what you’re saying about it being some kind of badge of honour for the future but I think any one that has any sort of meaniningful past/link with the club just rolls their eyes to anyone if they start with ‘I was there’. I’ve been associated from non-league days but I have gaps through playing amateur myself and all sorts of other reasons and there are people born way after me that can claim are more dedicated than me. None of it matters, one way or t’other.
Is this pretty standard stuff or is the club expecting high demand? I have no idea how many intend to go. Any thoughts anyone?
Never thought about it. Just checked it, £120 return. Might do it this time. Slight advantage with the ferry trip though is that it’s two hours overall and that usually gives me a decent break after driving best part of 300 miles with no stops.
Nah, looked into it but its meant to be a horrible trip on a horrible boat cabins shocking unless club class or something, food appalling and expensive take your own Looked at plane, too dear. Never fancied a 2 day bender on a coach straight there straight back.
I came to the conclusion, best to drive, euro tunnel, in to Bruges, 6 hoursish 2 nights to get over it and back again satdy. Working out about 185 all in for 3 of us inc brek at hotel. Good hotel too with pool and parking smack bang in centre. The trip looks reasonably priced for what it is and it’s certainly better than being stuck on a coach for an eternity.
I did the Hull to Rotterdam trip earlier in the year and I must admit, I didn’t get too much sleep. Beds were comfy but summat was rattling like billio and I couldn’t find it and the weird sway of the boat on the water didn’t help….BUT the food was absolutely amazing and incredible value, really top restaurant quality. The casino was good for a laugh too.
We’re going Weds morning by car, Dover to Calais, returning Friday afternoon. £84 return plus a ton for fuel, I’d guess. Not booked hotel yet but looks like there’s loads available. Lots to see in the city too. I’ll be enjoying lots of moules et frites while I’m there too :)
Still think he is the double of James Mclean
Very good
The clip is very funny too and the nifty bit of sound editing at the beginning to silence the expletives adds to the comedy  (It was almost live, BBC had about two minutes flat to find a typical Wigan fan, interview him/her and edit for family consumption).
