Pardew says, “I will sit down from now on and send [assistant manager] John Carver out there!”
5 Nov 2006: Still at Upton Park, Pardew apologises to Wenger after excessively celebrating a winner against the Gunners.
3 Sep 2012: Now Newcastle manager, Pardew is fined £20,000 and given a two-match touchline ban for pushing assistant referee Peter Kirkup in a 2-1 win over Tottenham.
13 Jan 2014: The Magpies boss apologises after cameras capture him verbally abusing Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini.
And Carver is no better!
In 2002, during his first spell at Newcastle, he had a row with Arsenal’s Robert Pires after an FA Cup quarter-final.
Later that year had a bust-up with Laurent Robert after ordering the Frenchman to salute fans who had travelled to see Dynamo Kiev Champions League game.
In March 2003, he confronted referee Andy D’Urso with Newcastle players after 1-0 defeat at Middlesbrough.
And in 2004, he threw a chair at Craig Bellamy in an airport row ahead of a trip to Real Mallorca.
In 2009 he was fined by the MLS for slamming referee Tim Weyland when boss of Toronto.
Last season saw Carver aggressively having words with McManaman at half-time and he had to be held back from the Wigan player.
Latics will also be without Nick Powell and Callum McManaman for tomorrow’s trip to Nottingham Forest.
“Nick and Callum are not yet back with the group,” Rosler said. “But we are hopeful they will be back before long.”
I’m going to throw myself in!
There is just one clue, the top of a pylon in the distance.
Power cables run west of the flashes, passing close to Westwood Flash, Scotsman’s Flash, Ochre Fash and Bryn Marsh.
It must be Ochre Flash!
Wigan have been rather coy about the number of tickets. They haven’t actually said whether they were on sale or return or not.
Last season we were a struggling Premier League team. This year we are the Cup Holders and a thrusting Championship team with a growing away following!
The final 500 tickets were released for general sale at 9.00am this morning to personal callers at the ticket office and were sold before midday.
The club can confirm that there will be no additional tickets.
3,750 Wigan Athletic supporters will travel to the Etihad Stadium next Sunday.
So we only accepted 3,750 tickets – we were entitled to 6,0000. A pity.
An older sport was the plunge – swimming without making any strokes. It made its only Olympic appearance in 1904. We seem to have replaced it with the even less sports-like synchronised swimming.
And thank you for the picture of Bill Werbenuik. According to Wikipedia;
His reliance on lager became such that, when scheduled to play at ten in the morning, he was forced to rise at 6am in order to get through the eight or so starter pints which he needed to play. Big Bill would then down a pint in each frame, before retiring to the bar at the end of the day for what he termed ‘a social drink’.
A dedicated sportsman.
Which one’s from Bryn Flash?
Edit – The pictures changed!
I don’t know, but it’s a nice photo of Wigan.
You should send it to the Tourist Information Office.
I’ll hazard a guess – Bryn Marsh.
The shoes?
Near the foot of the steps on the town centre side.
Beside the footbridge over the canal.
If we had got the full 6k then we would need to pay for them all up front getting different allocations means the tickets are sale or return.but roughly 4k is a good followingI wonder why we – the club – should have to pay in advance for 6,000 tickets but get 4,500 on sale or return.
We’ve sold 4,000 in 3 days, and the game is still 10 days away. And people can now buy two tickets each. Perhaps we could have could have sold 6,000.
I think you’re probably right.
It’s a big game against a good team. The Etihad is an attractive stadium within easy reach. And the tickets are reasonably priced. We’ve built up a good away following too. I wonder if City will sell all their tickets.
Let’s hope it’s a good day out.
I’ve been to Niagara too, and I’ve also seen the weir in the picture.
There’s a fish ladder on the far side.
