    The players leaving are not quality IMO.

    And yet they have both attracted interest from Premier League clubs.

    McClean has great skills and terrific stamina. He is willing to run and run – in both attack and defence. I’m sure a good coach could harness these talents.

    Maynard – in from the off, I get (hard as that may be on Fortune), give the lad some game time against seemingly beatable, out-of-form opposition, in readiness for more difficult games ahead !!!

    Unfortunately ….. (the rest as they say is history ..)

    Let’s get two or three up with our first team, then bring on Maynard as a substitute.

    Don’t worry – the disrespect was aimed at Crystal Palace.

    Well, a few of our recent displays have not been totally convincing. A defeat was to be expected in due course, but 3-0 at Doncaster was a surprise.

    And there have been some very eccentric team selections too.

    We have lost Holt and I’m not sure that Maynard is the reliable scorer that we need to knock our chances in. But the window is still open and we live in hope.

    McCann played on the left side of three centre backs – JB & Browning were wing backs.

    Thank you, Squire! Then the Doncaster line up would have been;

    Al-Habsi
    Boyce Barnett McCann
    Browning McArthur Watson (Fortuné 65′) Jordi Gómez (McManaman 61′) Beausejour
    Powell Maynard (Espinoza 80′)

    He played McCann in the back three against MK Dons too;

    Al Habsi
    Watson Barnett McCann
    Perch McArthur Fyvie Espinoza Crainey
    Fortune McClean

    Two debutants were too many at Doncaster.

    Match of the Day pundits last night were Mark Lawrenson and Danny Murphy. Neither was inspiring. However, Murphy did confirm that there was indeed contact between Suarez and Guzan.

    I didn’t stay up for the Football League show.

    He will be if he gets his money back on Holt and McClean.

    How did they line up? Back to a four man defence?

    Al-Habsi

    Boyce Barnett Browning McCann

    McArthur Watson (Fortuné – 65′) Jordi Gómez (McManaman – 61′ Booked) Beausejour

    Powell Maynard (Espinoza – 80′)

    Subs not used;
    Crainey
    Nicholls
    Perch
    Kiernan

    Would anyone care to predict the team and formation to play Palace?

    Daily Star – Aston Villa forward Grant Holt determined to keep his feet firmly on the ground

    Exactly! That’s the problem.

    I remember an edition of Have I Got News for You when Roy Hattersley was due to appear. He didn’t turn up, so they replaced him with a tub of lard.

    You don’t suppose that Rosler will replace…No, that would be ridiculous.

    Maynard in, Holt out, word on the street.

    Thank you, and a week in advance too.

    Contender for most ridiculous thread of the year – but there is a long way still to go.

    Clubs don’t play all their rivals in a cup competition, do they?

    in reply to: FA CUP/CHAMPIONS LEAGUE #125995

    Last season, we played our strongest team in the Cup Final and won. Meanwhile, Arsenal rested. On the Tuesday, we played at Arsenal and lost. We were relegated.

    But I don’t know anyone who would swap winning the Cup for survival in the Premier League. We will always be recorded as 2013 Cup Winners.

    I’m looking forward to the cup tie against Palace. We certainly have a chance of winning it. Winning the Premier League to become Champions is beyond our reach just now.
