You don’t really want to discuss the candidates for the Champions League, do you?
You just want to pour ridicule on Martinez and wind up a few people who respected his efforts when he was here.
It’s sad to see this site reduced to such a low level.
Wigan were out of their financial depth in the Premier League, just as Everton are the poor relations at the top of the table. In financial terms, they rank with Fulham, Sunderland and Aston Villa.
Everton sold Fellaini for £27 million and bought McCarthy for £13 million. Spurs sold Bale for £85 million. Their team included Soldado (£26m) and Paulinho (£17m) while the players sitting on the bench cost £78 million!
Spurs clearly had the better of the first half. Vertonghen and Lennon were dangerous on Spurs’ left side, and Mirallas did little to support Coleman. Even so, Spurs didn’t really test Howard. In the second half, Martinez sent McCarthy to support Coleman and Everton came strongly into the game. Both sides made positive substitutions and continued to attack until the 99th minute.
Looks like the goal conceding virus has checked in at Goodison.Looks like another bad day for the Bobsessives.
I didn’t really see any poster embarrassing themselves.Have you read the title of the thread?
I’m sure the mods can tell us why the thread was locked.
It was probably to save some posters from further embarrassment.
However, it was a very long thread – that could be another reason.
The original thread is still there with more than 200 responses. I don’t know why LHL has started a new one. It seems even more ludicrous now than it did before.
As you say, we started with Fortune at the front and McManaman and Gomez each playing on the wrong side. The formation was narrow and balls were played though the middle to Fortune and Powell.
When Holt replaced Fortune, Coyle played McClean on the left and Albrighton on the right. Both ran at their full backs and tried to centre for Holt. Perhaps there was a logic to the play.
I thought that both teams tried to play football on the ground – Huddersfield have certainly improved from last season. Wigan still found clear chances hard to come by. They scored from a set piece and from free play through Powell. Wigan had the edge but Huddersfield persevered to the end.
But who could then model the XXXL shirts?
Bruce came very close to causing a cup upset. Spurs thought that they were going to walk into the next round, especially after dominating Hull in the first half.
Hull shocked Spurs by outplaying them in the second half and equalising, and then going ahead in extra time. Spurs were very relieved to get a late equaliser and go into the penalty competition.
Just four goals and fifteen penalties for the fans to see!
And the best eleven are?
The point isn’t just the players he’s playing but the players he’s playing out of position.
He also has to plan ahead for the trip to Kazan and the following game at Yeovil.
Fans would understand his tactics better if he gave us an explanation for his apparently eccentric choices.
We beat Huddersfield 4-1 away last season – with a half strength team including just five of the first team.
Huddersfield drew 2-2 with Barnsley on the last day of the season and both of them escaped relegation. Has Mark Robins transformed Huddersfield since then?
Hull gave Spurs a nasty shock after half time on Wednesday. They played attractive and effective football too.
1-1 after 90 minutes and 2-2 after extra time, they lost 8-7 when penalties went to sudden death.
Yes, a long throw is fine as an extra way of attacking goal.
It’s a worry when it’s the only way of attacking goal.

I don’t buy into this bollox about the team being knackered and requiring rotation as Coyle has the players he’s resting on the bench.
Players who have played in midweek are at a great disadvatage to those who have had a week’s rest. Rotation is therefore a necessity as long we continue to play in Europe.
It will be interesting to see who Coyle takes to Kazan.
