That’s fair enough. He should get another chance next Tuesday – in what position I don’t know.
I trust that we will be back to full strength for Ipswich on Sunday.
Presumably the squad players will get another run-out against Manchester City. We can only wonder who will play centre forward then.
Boyce in particular deserves a rest!
Fulham pointless? No more than this thread!
Latics UEFA Europa League Squad:
Scott Carson, Lee Nicholls,
Stephen Crainey, Ryan Shotton, Thomas Rogne, Emmerson Boyce, Juan-Carlos Garcia, James Perch, Leon Barnett,
Chris McCann, Ben Watson, Shaun Maloney, Callum McManaman, Jordi Gomez, James McArthur, Roger Espinoza, Nick Powell,
Grant Holt, James McClean, Nouha Dicko, Mark Antoine Fortune.Although Coyle insists the main focus this season will be an immediate return to the Premier League, he has given tomorrow’s game just as much concentration as he would do any other.
The Latics boss admits he hasn’t even thought about Sunday’s Championship game against Ipswich and everybody at the DW is fully focused on picking up three points in Europa League Group D first.
Really? Shaun Maloney has not travelled to Brugge. I wonder if Coyle has considered playing him against Ipswich.
It’s going to be all change for the game in Brugge;
“The McManamans, the McCleans, Powell and Shotton will certainly start the game and there is no doubt of their quality.
“It’ll be good to see that combination with the players there.
“Powell and Shotton will make their debuts from the start, obviously Nick played a little on Saturday so it’s a great opportunity for those kind of boys. If Grant (Holt) was fit and Marco there, it still wouldn’t be an ideal situation with two (strikers) and we’re still looking to try to add to that.
“As it is, Marco is there and it may very well be that Marco may get a rest on Thursday and come off the bench.”
It looks like Dicko to start at centre forward then. I’m not sure how many McManamen there are.

There is no public parking for any supporters. If you are travelling by car you will need to park in the streets around the stadium. Please be careful when parking, that it is a valid parking zone and pay for your ticket!
The public transport options to get to the stadium are poor. If you do not wish to walk [from the city centre] we would advise you to take a taxi to Doornstraat (visitor’s entry) for a cost of +/- €20.
Blackpool v Wigan – – not long now!
Lunchtime kick-off 12:15 Saturday 19 October
Unfortunately, that’s immediately after the next international break;
World Cup Qualifying European – Group H
England v Montenegro Friday 11 Oct
England v Poland Tuesday 15 OctThere’s not much respite for the players until after Christmas, and then the FA Cup starts again.
Enjoy the trip regardless of the result! If it’s a victory, then all the better.
We want Wigan to be remembered for the right reasons.
And remember that the beer is much stronger! It will be a long afternoon and 2 glasses there are the same as 3 at home. Good chips too with mayonnaise.
And each variety of beer must be drunk from its own glass to taste right!

Local police are willing to guide (walk) the Wigan Athletic fans in a group to the stadium from the meeting point for supporters; which is the main Market Square at 17:00. The stadium is a 35 to 45 minute walk.
Astonishing! And original too, as far as I know.
Will it work a second time? I don’t know.
Stephen Dobbie has joined Blackpool on loan from Crystal Palace for 93 days, 18 months after the midfielder’s last spell at Bloomfield Road.
Flemish is a slight variation of Dutch, some words differ similar to Spanish and Catalan.
The written forms of Flemish and Dutch are almost identical, but the spoken dialects can differ quite widely – enough to make comprehension difficult.
The two forms are closer than Castilian and Catalan Spanish, but perhaps as different as Lowlands Scots and standard English.
The Flemish are certainly hospitable. I hope they remember our visit for its good behaviour.
We made enough chances against Forest, and that was without Holt. Perhaps it succeeded because it was without Holt. We had Maloney playing just behind Fortune.
However, you can’t pick a team for Brugge without planning for the Ipswich and Manchester City games too. Surely players can’t be expected to play in all three.
So perhaps it’s a chance to give some new/young players a place in the first team. Besides, we’ve got enough midfield players to field a different midfield four in each game.
McClean McArthur McCann McManaman
Beausejour Gomez Watson Maloney
Redmond Espinoza Fyvie PowellWe’re short of forwards though. Dicko might have to play in one game, and Maloney may have to support the one forward.
