So someone in Stoke does know something about football then….why any club would go near Hughes is beyond me
No bitterness from me towards Martinez, maybe it was best for all concerned, we can move on from him leaving a build again and from his point of view, he can’t keep rejecting these offers from bigger clubs…keep turning clubs down, they’ll stop asking, question his bottle and willingness to move his career onwards.
Sure that the story I heard about the Liverpool game was that Doris wanted fences that could be removed the morning after the game whereas the police and council wanted them to be a more permanent fitting. Presumably this would have meant more solid foundations and stuff so it didn’t happen….in fairness to them, maybe Wigan RL weren’t to blame for that game being played at Anfield
After the events in the Potteries in the last hour…WAFC, if you’re reading DO NOT consider Tony Pullis under any circumstances
Read 18,000 exactly somewhere…..so that’s obviously not right, can’t see that being the correct number
“Here ‘cos its Wigan, you’re only here cos its Wigan”
Lets be fair, as well they should recognise the most recent achievement of Wigan RLFC….”League Leaders Shield Winners 2012″
I’m sure fans of our Championship and Europa League opponents will be fully aware of the significance of that. B)
In quarter of a century people will still be talking about the 2013 FA Cup final, quarter of an hour after its finished, hardly anyone talks about the Challenge Cup final
Wigan Athletic making history world-wide
If Kevin Langley (on Talksport) earlier is right, then Alcaraz will play
From Stam coming on and getting injured it was about 15 seconds….9 seconds from Robles playing out to the tackle, even by our standards of defensive injuries this season, that was just farcical and summed things up.
So we get to watch home games at 3rd Division prices and people think we could do more for away games….get real.
As for today, we again didn’t make the most of our opportunities, however, unlike Di Santo’s miss at City, a lot of those chances today weren’t taken due to some good defending by WH (Collins in particular) and a couple of pieces of excellent keeping by Jaaskelainen.
Anyway, its still in our hands, need to beat Spurs next week though and go from there
Wrexham was a good night, seem to remember half the Latics following missing the 1st goal as it was a 7.30 not 7.45 KO…cracking celebrations.
Arsenal has to be the best one though, for what it meant, we weren’t supposed to get through v Henry/Bergkamp etc, but most of all the drama at the end and the celebrations/disbelief at what we’d just seen. Remember Whelan coming over to us fans down the side of the pitch and just shouting about “Europe/Cardiff/Final” allsorts.
Was only a kid so didn’t go, but apparently we had 20,000 there that day, still to this day one of the biggest away followings Goodison’s ever seen. Remember the attendance was Everton’s biggest that year, even more than the Merseyside Derby……and we played in all Red
I’ve heard loads of figures (up to 19k last week) and read of people being in blocks in the SE corner of the ground, so no idea how many we’ve sold as I thought we had to sell strictly block by block. Hopefully the town will get out of the pub and drag itself down to Wembley in good numbers
More crucial for us to get something than QPR. Because we play Villa last game, QPR/Reading need 8 points as it stands to have any chance, don’t see them getting 4 wins from what they’ve got left which still may not be enough.
As for us, we’re more than capable of going there and winning…god knows whether we will though
