Excellent result for the towns top team today, good point at Birmingham that. As for t’other lot, would have liked to have seen em lose today but will settle for them getting stuffed by Saints next week
I’m reliably informed that a certain club in Wigan has sold *less tickets for a semi-final tomorrow than a 2nd division football club sold for a game on Wednesday night
*no I don’t mean 3,000 which WRLFC have claimed to sell, actual figure is less than 2,000
Well said Vat….didn’t realise it was 15 years ago though.
RIP Michael
15525, of which approx 5,000 were supporting Man City…
The Wigan public love their football, dont they
Shame they don’t love eggchasing quite as much anymore….still care to defend 8,500 2 games from possibly winning the M62 “Grand Final”?
Ahh, I get it now, 8,500 is perfectly acceptable for a top flight game, 2 or 3 games from winning the title, especially when compared to 2 cup ties against 2 teams from a lower division.
Huge difference in the status of those games….yes Notts game was a very poor attendance and PNE will probably be, but unlike the eggmen, we acknowledge our support is poor, whereas they can’t because they know given the same circumstances, ie challenging for trophies, WAFC would attract far higher crowds then them
When I saw N’Zogbia and Di Santo were coming on, I thought it was going to be for Boselli and either Diame or Thomas. Presumed we were going to play Hugo and Franco up front, leave Stam where he was and put N’Zogbia on the left…that would have meant we still had the option of using Cleverley in whatever midfield role Martinez felt he might need to change.
So, let me get this right…..that’s hot tubs, free drinks, free food, cheap tickets, all to entice the best RL fans in the world down to the stadium, but they’re not desperate for fans
50 new players???? Me thinks Mr Scharner has got his Roberto’s in a twist, maybe Mancini has got close to 50 (very much doubt it like), but us bringing in 50 players, must be something in the Austrian air
Scharner is a legend….yeah, course he is. Can you imagine people mentioning his name decades after he played for us like you mention Harry Lyon? Of the players I saw play for us that you mention, PS isn’t fit to lace their drinks never mind their boots.
17,000 to watch them get the league trophy and they think its magnificent. Not even on *Sky so the missing WRLFC millions couldn’t even watch it from the comfort of their own armchair.
*Incidentally, Sky showed the importance of the “best sport in the world”…..can anyone, Latics fan or eggman remember them not showing live coverage of the championship winning side/individual recieving their trophy?
“The Wigan papers have caused all the anomosity between the football and the Rugby Supporters over the years”.
Couldn’t agree more, have noticed before now in the letters section, a really controversial letter in favour of one club always has “name and address supplied”….to me thats employee told to right something, cos they need to fill some space in a later edition so start something controversial and get geniune people writing in.
Bit on official site made me laugh “undisclosed fee”
They should have said “undisclosed fee until Chairman reveals we paid £4m on Radio 5”
McCarthy is only 20 so doesnt have to be included in the 25, though he can still play for us
I agree with Amigo….Wigan is a small rugby town, football is much more popular in Wigan
Better than the match “report” in the Mirror…..apparently Robbie Keane might be on his way out of Spurs although their fans may not like it.
Funny that, I went to WHL and I’m sure I saw a football match, but reading the Mirror I’m not sure now….no mention of the score, teams, goalscorer or result.
