400??? Don’t be silly, there must have been at least 20,000 of em, with 4 million locked out….greatest supporters in world don’t you know
Hopefully their Austrian base is close to Ljubljana…or they’ve landed in the wrong country ;)
Not in any particular order and off the top of my head
1985 v Brentford FRT (seeing Latics at Wembley)
2005 v Reading (the day the dream came true)….Chelsea first PL game must have been an amazing day, but had to miss it
2006 v Man Utd (as said before, yes we got thumped but to see us in a major cup final was just unbelieveable)…semi final win was a fantastic experience as well
1982 v Mansfield (first ever FL promotion)
2003 v Huddersfield (promotion to the Championship, magic day)Incidentally, when was the Sunderland FA Cup game, cant remember that?
Couldn’t agree more with Alex….calling the club a joke is ridiculous. Now the way Pompey have run their club is a joke, Hull giving an injury-prone Bullard £45K a week over 4 years is a joke, Everton losing a promising youngster because they didn’t put a contract offer in writing is a joke. Yes, not everything is perfect at Latics, far from it, but to label a small club like ours thats come through the divisions and is about to enter its 6th Premier League season, a joke smacks of another Wiganer looking for any excuse to winge and desert the club.
As for Rodellega/Beattie, speculation….that said I wouldn’t spend Bolton’s money on Beattie never mind our club’s, absolute carthorse and seemingly a bit of a troublemaker at a club where things have gone really well over the last 3 seasons or so.
Some of our demands when it comes to transfer fees have been poor, i.e Cattermole, Baines, Bramble (if it is £1m) etc, but ultimately its what we put out on the park that matters. If we have an awful season, then people will moan about fees, but if we have a reasonably successful season, then £1m for Titus wont get a mention
Got it almost straight away (I think)….Turf Moor
Surely the ending of Kuomas’ spell at Wigan deserves more than a minute’s applause
In all seriousness, the applause at Villa was for Sir Bobby Robson
How on earth can West Ham, Chelsea and Arsenal be in the North Group A? That’s just madness
Oh and incidentally we don’t play Manchester City reserves, we play the Manchester City Elite Squad…..no doubt the brainchild of that prize pillock at Eastlands, Garry Cooke
also known as the wigan walk
This made me laugh…..”Just how long do you think such a garbage team, with no support can keep riding their luck in the top league??”
Maybe they should tell us, they’ve been doing it for roughly the last 10 years
Caldwell as captain? Can’t see it myself, if Alcaraz turns out to be a good’un, then for me, Caldwell would be 4th choice centre half behind Alcaraz, Bramble and Boyce.
thirtytwo….I reckon its a Wigan thing, especially when it comes to sport, some people arent happy unless they have something to slag off the club for. Look at this board in the last few days, we’ve had a moan about ST prices (those people should be ashamed of themselves), moans about getting stuff off the club for good causes (they can;t be expected to respond to every good local cause that asks for something) and now we have folk moaning about the bleedin training kit…its pathetic really
I know with these pre-contracts, both club and player usually have clauses which mean they can cancel the move, but surely these only apply until 1st July which seems to be when most contracts begin. I would have thought Alcaraz would have had to put something in writing to the club before then, if he wished to withdraw from the deal, surely from 1st July he has been registered as our player and if he leaves we would be entitled to a transfer fee
Haven’t looked who we play, but would think our fixture on 14th May 2011 be moved from a 3pm kick off. Apparently the idiots at the FA/PL have arranged a full fixture list on the same day as the FA cup final!!
Ridiculous fixture planning that, how can you have league matches on the same day as the final of the best national cup competition in the world?
Thats fair enough Standish, he/she’s watched us for 12 years, seen up against teams we never thought we’d play in league football and moans about paying £13-£14 a game. Proud to be a Latics fan and a Wiganer, but unfortunately we have some right idiots who don’t deserve what opportunities present themselves as far as WAFC go.
