Lacking in experience is known by us all, but that can be put to one side. Just focusing on his managerial ability, has he improved Wigan Athletic since last season? The answer to that is a resounding no, but are you impressed by him? Does his comments of bringing Kapo and King into the team build your confidence? Are you satisfied that he says he is happy with our current squad? Can he achieve the absolute minimum with us this year, just keep us up? The guy doesnt fill me with confidence and rather than looking to Martinez for inspiration, I look to Burnley, Hull, Wolves, Noblot, Birmingham, Stoke and Portsmouth. Thankfully, those teams will decide if we stay up so were not totally relying on Martinez.

The thing is , the window is now shut , so this is our squad until January.Whatever you may think about DW , love him or hate him , we all know he likes to take gambles. You can’t get where he has in life without taking numerous chances. I honestly believe that’s what he’s doing with us. If he can sell our prize assets , replace them with cheap options and STILL stay in the Prem then he’s a winner all ways.
I reckon we will pick points up here and there, and the longer the players have getting used to the new system , the more we will get. But for a dodgy pen ( it was by the way ) we nearly got a point at EFC !!!!
If however we are struggling come January , then I reckon DW will open the ” warchest ” and spend enough to secure another season in the greed league. I am confident he will back Bob , whatever happens.
Anyway , I’d rather be supporting our squad of underdogs than be a glory hunting , season ticket in the pub , big 4 JCL.
