You’re not telling me you think clubs say I like the look of him, offer his club 5 million, they accept, you contact the player and he says no thank you?
That is exactly what I am telling you :silly:[/quote]
Thank god you’re not in charge of our transfers! :woohoo:
alex for my own curiosity, would you give me your interpretation of ‘tapping up a player’?Speaking to a player who’s under contract with a club without the clubs permission.
I’d say 80-90 percent of deals done nowadays have contract talks sorted before the 2 clubs agree a fee. It’s not tapping up, it’s ensuring the player is interested before the 2 clubs arrange the fee. The parent club obviously gives permission for this based on whether they’re happy to sell the player or not. You’re not telling me you think clubs say I like the look of him, offer his club 5 million, they accept, you contact the player and he says no thank you?
Also, Alan Nixon on twitter is pointing out the fact something must have been discussed with McGeady before we bid for him so not to panic over the transfer and watch this space.
So you don’t believe most if not all clubs do this?
I don’t know where the truth lies with McGeady but Martinez has told BBC the deal wouldn’t get done by the deadline due to him being in Russia. Maybe a cover up but either way we need to look elsewhere as he’s obviously a no go.
I disagree.
I think his pace would be deadly and we’re crying out for a tricky winger. Moses could dribble, had decent pace but a poor final ball. N’Zogbia had good pace, good dribbling and a decent final ball. McGeady is lightning, well known for his ability to leave a man for dead and may have the killer ball into the box. We’ve needed a winger all season as we’re not getting goals from the wide areas like we did with Moses and N’Zogbia.
The news of him refusing to speak to us has come out in the last half an hour or so. The page you’re referring to was probably published during the night or first thing this morning.
If it’s not true there’s an almighty lot of gossip about such a small club like us on basically all sports internet pages and radio stations.
Looking at his tweets it seems he’s unsettled which may suggest he’s looking for a move abroad. Apparently the WBA squad and staff know exactly why he wants to move on. One of his tweets states he’s never got over the fans questioning his commitment before signing the new contract which begs the question why sign the new contract? He seems like he’s got a few screws loose.
Who seems to have gone very quiet since a pre-season stuffing at Warrington for the rugby and proof that Sunderland only took between 300 and 700 to Everton for a league game.
Wonder how he came up with the idea Jason aimed this thread at him? Why is he on this forum in the first place if he’s a Sunderland and Wigan rugby fan?
I don’t like to judge people but they guy’s a tw :woohoo: t!
I’m afraid I’m with Griff on this one.
Sky Sports News has reported this afternoon that we’ve had a bid rejected for Stones from Barnsley but that we’ve gone back in for him today. I’m sure I’ve read somewhere that Wenger has said Jenkinson isn’t available for loan. Looks as though Becchio is heading abroad. No new news on McGeady and I fear the Ecuadorian winger is just a rumour.
I’d be surprised to see more than 1 new player arrive although I do think we need 3. A defender, winger and striker.
I as Griff said would also love to be proved wrong.
I’d be happy for him to leave if we have a replacement coming in as like Salford says we need as many fit players as we can get.
I agree.
The strongest reports circulating at the moment suggest we’re looking at Simpson, Stones, Zubar, Coates, McGeady and Becchio.
The Becchio deal seems to have quietened off now since Warnock spoke out. McGeady is also being linked with Sunderland. Simpson refused a contract worth 25k a week according to toon fans which is why he’s not being offered a new contract. Would be a bargain at 400k. Zubar is out of contract in the summer so would be a cheaper deal again and Coates would obviously be a loan deal. The Stones deal according to some rumours is all but done with a fee agreed although I’ve not heard anything myself.
With Roberto often buying from the SPL I can’t help but think he may have his eye on the Hooper transfer saga going on at the moment and maybe keeping an eye on young Johnny Russell from Dundee United.
The ‘kid’ is 18 I’ve heard, surely he can stick up for himself?? He’s not a ball boy, more of a ball man. Hazard himself is what? 19 or 20? Surely this ‘kid’ doesn’t need to cry when someone 2 years older than him kicks a ball from underneath him? He was crying as he left the pitch. He’s an embarrassment and I believe on twitter he want from having around 4,000 followers to 75,000 followers overnight. His last tweet stated he’d been asked to ball boy for the first time this season to help waste time!!! :woohoo:
He said it for a laugh.
Can’t take somebody as gay as him seriously.
His favourite quote about Wigan is:
“They’re not just inconsistent from game to game but in games”
I’ve checked their official site and they seem really confident the game will go ahead. The pitch is not a problem according to their ground manager and the fans are clearing snow from the terraces, not the pitch.
From what’s being said on their official website + their main fans forum I’m quietly confident the game will go ahead. It’s in their best interest to do all they can to get it on but they’re definitely insisting the pitch will be no problem whatsoever.
