the likes of Fulham, no disrespect to them, as they aren’t a bad side, but we should be beating those clubs
i respectfully disagree.
look at what Fulham are spending on quality buys. they’re aiming alot higher than us this season. We should not be beating those sides as you put it. I would like to think we should be competing with those sides. But going into games thinking we should beat them is a recipe for disaster. I believe this is were some fans have got a little ahead of the game, hence a few defeats/or poor performances and its all gone tits up – reminder that were in October for christ sake. aimed at other posters – not AppleyBridgeLatic
We are not a fulham, we have gate size in common but nothing else.
I think Griff has got that bang on. Fergie is the best manager in the league at these little games and indirectly controling the media reports.
The guy is a genius. I cant stand the fellow, but i’ll hold my hands up and admit he is a clever bugger.
we look very pedestrian and seem to be regressing to the pass it sideways style againregressing…!
interesting.
I do think Jones has deserved a crack at being involved in the middle for a while. Not based by any means on his improvements as a player but on the fact Watson has time and time again been asked to perform the role in which he is obviously either no good at or does not want.
Watson has his uses, but that square peg doesnt fit in Martinez’s round hole (aye up!!). the midfield man bringing the ball forward and linking up the front men isnt Martinez. So Watson for me is doing a role that he isnt comfortable with .
Now Mcarthur is fit though, maybe this debate can be put to bed for a while.
id take Boro at home.
escape the big boys for now, would be a bonus to get closer to quarter finals – gets a bit exciting then!! anything could happen
I believe That Gomez could be a major player for us if given a chance. By that i mean by the fans too. He has been a decent player for us under difficult circumstances. With our heads up, and flowing football (end of last season) he is the kind of player i feel but benefit. He is not a bad player.
I d challenge any footballer to maintain a level of consistency when their home crowd boo’s every time they play. its impossible to do.
refering back to comments by the Egg “If a player isn’t pulling their weight then the fans have every right to get on their backs” – yes i agree. but i see a difference between getting on at them and booing them or cheering them off the pitch. The premeditated attacks Gomez and Watson were getting only 5mins into the game were just simply ridiculous. (which is what i think i was going on about when i started the thread)
how times have changed, that we can be concerned at losing Boselli and Di Santo. Not too long ago these guys were out there for the firing squad.
Think Di Santo could be the key to us challenging for mid table bottom top half this season. Kone looks good with him which is good to see also.
not sure we were in it for sell on fee’s with Alcaraz, but to lose Figgy on free would be criminal.
A big fan of the prince Ali chant.
I still believe that this boy is just not as good as his media profile would lead us to believe. He will die a footballing death at Chelsea.
We’ve lost many a better player than Moses before and we have been fine. He is a decent player on his day. His days are few and far between.
Im a big fan of Simon Haworth. Looking back on the goals he scored. He was definately gifted. For me he represented the first step up in player transfers from days of pre whelan. if im correct aprox 400-500k from coventry. at the time big money. and boy did he repay us.
The cardiff thing never bothered me one bit. he is in fact a cardiff fan, born and bred. why not show a little pride in what he loves. However the latter end of his career did turn a bit sour, and that was a shame for me. As if he could have been a real legend for us. someone mentioned ellington and roberts as best forward line up. I think, for the postion we were in and the impact it made, the combo of Liddell,Haworth and Barlow will always stick in my mind. Good times.
I miss that sense of ownership that you get from being a fan. Nowadays, with the premierleague, we seem to turn up and go home and no-one bothers. it never used to feel like that. cant put my finger on it, but something just isnt right with the game today.
Wonder why they’ve picked this one then. Either sense an upset or to make the token dig’s about the “200” who will attend following a long haul from saints away!!!!!!!!!!!!!Suspect it may have something to do with their sponsor
See! You are able to converse in a sensible manner. Well done.
Nah I don’t reckon Heskey Chimbonda and Bullard were after a long glamerous career after leaving us.
They got what they wanted. Maybe not what you wanted but hey, who gives a shit about you. So back to your initial point! I don’t think victor is on 20k.
I’ll speak to you if that’s ok bud. I don’t believe Moses is currently on 20 odd grand a week, that’s all I’m saying. Ellington Bullard Chimbonda who were all on shut wages in comparison to established premier clubs moved to get more money. They succeeded. Fair play to them. Heskey our highest paid player wanted to go to a big club. He succeeded and fair play to him too.
