Blackburn have a statue near the ground of Jack walker and whelan as done a similar thing with us so why not. Be good to see him holding the fa cup
The difference being Jack Walker was well liked by everyone in the town. Whereas D.W. I’m afraid, isn’t :(
Who is paying for it? If the Billy Boston statue is going to cost £100,000 How much will this one cost? I’m afraid to say for every Wiganer who like him(DW) there is one who doesn’t (Orrell Rugby Union Members…) and I can see it being vandalised with two weeks of it being erected unless it’s placed in a position where no can reach it? Just been to Nottingham and there is a statue of Brian Clough in the town centre Maybe this one of DW should be placed next to the one of George Formby in the Grand Arcade…
Having spent a lot of my summer holidays in Bournemouth when I was young and again when I was married with kids. I have always had a bit of a SOFT SPOT for the football club. I watched the game last night and was MADE UP for the club. They have played some great football all season,their goal tally says it all. Well deserved. They haven’t had such notoriety since George Best played his last game in the English Football league against…… Wigan Athletic. I was there ;)
Agree CHEAP option yet again :( and the worst of it is he has no experience :dry: but why? we still have the £10 million parachute payment next season, so whilst we have this buffer surely we should be going for a manager with a bit of experience.
I know a lot of people who were 50-50 whether or not to renew their season ticket next season I think this appointment will just about sway it. The club hasn’t just lost the support of long time fans but the young fans too Who they were so enthusiastic in recruiting has now been a waste of time. My grandson who is 7 and his friends now don’t want to go anymore :(

Won 1 from out last 14 games…… The writing was on the wall last season. I can see Maloney, McArthur, and McManaman, jumping ship before the transfer window closes if someone comes along with decent offers :(
Just been reading up on the RESULTS READERS John Langham (I remember the name) who read the results on GRANDSTAND One Saturday they were waiting for him to come into the studio to read the results and he couldn’t be found A few minutes later a police officer came to the studio and asked if any of the crew were missing? They had found him outside. He had just jumped from a top floor window!!!! It appeared he had money problems.
I don’t think that he had seen that his favourite team had just been relegated that had tipped him over the edge.
