If we take nothing else out of the game, I’ll take these two positives:-

1, James McLean’s debut performance was very promising.

2, Grant Holt going toe-to-toe with Vidic.

I thought Perch and Bennett looked good at the back, for me the problem is in the midfield. IF we get £10m for McCarthey then let him go. Watson could misplace a pass from anywhere on that field.

Agree with you galacTIC, the refs already have earpieces, if a vital game changing wrong decision is made, I’d like a fourth official watching a screen to be able to alert the ref then he can take a look if he wants to .

Given that TV companies do hold I think a maximum of 20% of some Clubs, Man U was one of them a few years back, they cant be trusted to provide accurate interpretation of a decision in my mind.

Football seems to have survived with people not technology for a long time, just need to go with the flow !

Nice to see Wigan made a silent protest on Sunday by not going near the goal.

See it makes it debut at Wembley on Sunday.

Shame SAF has retired. Would have loved to have seen his face if we got the 1st hawkeye confirmed goal to beat them

Provided the system works properly, I’m all in favour of using technology. Key thing for the game is the correct decision is made….

All very well until the first decision is shown to be wrong, for whatever reason, and there will be a campaign to take it out.

Even the company who provides the technology say it isnt 100%.

Weren’t we linked to him prior to him signing for Sunderland?

Anyway, we’re slowly turning into Wigan Celtic.

At what point will ginger hair and a mono-brow become compulsory to enter the stadium? (sorry, could that be classed as racist?)

hail hail

He can have him for 7 or 8 million and that to us would be great business !

I often wonder how you keep in business 7 or 8 million ya plonker
What the fuck has the completely out of context stupid and exorbitant transfer fees got to do with my window cleaning round ? I personally think that McCarthy is overrated and certainly not worth £15m ! He is a decent player and is of Prem standard but is not worth £15m. I think my figure is more realistic, watch this space !
I suspect he is questioning your ability to understand economics of undercharging for an asset, even if you believe he is worth less that deosnt mean we shoul dbe selling him for less. Surely you would encourage the club to get more for its players?

in reply to: Coventry City #118969
More dark days ahead for Coventry me thinks, I can quite easily see them dropping down into the 2 division & staring into the non league abyss

Do they have any players we can purchase at a discounted price?

in reply to: Is DW the most unpopular man in the area #118654
As much as I am thankful to D.W for what he had done for Wigan Athletic. As a member of Joe Public looking from the outside. He ruined Orrell R.U. and now he has closed down another sporting club, after giving assurances he wouldn’t.

Couldnt care less about Orrell RU like most people in the area. As for a toffy nosed golf club that impacts very few people, who cares. Go play somewhere else.

DW is a star.

the riders in the Tour de France:

Chris Froome’s team mate ( Kiwi chap I think ) rode the entire tour with a fractured pelvis.

Another French rider crashed during the time trial ( about stage 3 ) and broke his left shoulder blade. Anyway, he soldiered on to stage 16 ( or thereabouts ) before crashing again and further fracturing the same shoulder blade.

Sick notes are not given out easily in those teams.

Maybe the question should be, are cyclists stupid to do what they do when football leads a far more lucrative and enritching life !

The Great Wall Of China cannot be seen from outer space, it is a fallacy !

All depends on your definition of space…

in reply to: Women’s Euro 2013 #118017
I am being neither disloyal nor misogynistic when I say I am pleased the Women’s team have failed miserably in the Euros.

Success would have once again papered over the cracks that are the total lack of lower level support and development in this country in both the men’s and the women’s games, caused by the fixation on the Premier League and lack of investment by the FA in grassroots football.

As it is we are shown up to be falling rapidly behind most countries in Europe, and a fair number in the world at all levels. The Press and the casual football supporters still get hyped up about whether Chelsea or Man United will win this week or next, while small clubs are going to the ground, and financial support is being reduced in lower levels.

Rant over.

Couldnt care less about Womens football, and just because it is England and on the BBC doesnt make me care. I have to say one of them I saw on the news was fit !
