I would say that the parachute payments haven’t really helped us at all! Look where we are now!!

Barrow gets the job and it will save me a few quid as well! Backwards move in my opinion and like I have said before, a clear out is needed! As for ex players Martinez, Jewell and Caldwell. Martinez was employed when we had reached the Prem, there was a lot more money to play with and we were attracting half decent players. Jewell had the initial injection of cash from Whelan in the master plan that came to fruition courtesy of a couple of decent strikers that cost a few quid and Caldwell had parachute money and not too bad a squad left over from The Championship and so that was a doddle by any manager’s standards in my opinion, even Coyle and McKay could have pulled that one off! No room for sentiment in football, especially when things don’t appear to be hunky dory!

I agree Jewell did enjoy the benefit of Whelan’s cash but others before him had failed with the same cash potential. Martinez was appointed after Whelan had decided he could no longer bankroll the club. He kept us in the Premiership for three seasons, almost a fourth, AND won the FA Cup on the lowest budget of any PL club. Caldwell did not inherit too bad a squad at all – most were cleared out – but had money to build a brand new team for which we didn’t necessarily pay over the odds to assemble. His sacking is still considered by many to have been premature.

On the other hand Coyle and Rosler enjoyed the lion’s share of the parachute payments and still failed. Joyce was just a very bad choice.
But Coyle and Rosler were not ex players. My point was the 3 ex players you mentioned that have managed us did have a little help shall we say! Caldwell’s style for me was not working in The Championship and being a sort of protégé of Martinez he had appeared to have developed that certain obstinate nature! His dismantling of a half decent squad was baffling and he was out of his depth in my opinion!

It wasn’t a matter of going for the cheap option because both he and Hughton were out of work at the time.

I imagine one wanted higher wages than the other.
Hughton had been unfairly sacked by Newcastle despite gaining them promotion from The Championship and seemingly doing well in the Prem. Had then done relatively well at Birmingham, almost guiding them out of The Championship. Had decided to take the Norwich job for Prem football but for some reason that just didn’t work. He was also offered assistant manager jobs at various Prem clubs but declined.
Mackay whilst doing well at Cardiff had an FA investigation for being racist, sexist and homophobic hanging over his head and was also being questioned about his financial activities with Iain Moody over agent fees and signings whilst at Cardiff. The Wigan fans deeply opposed the signing of Mackay but it went ahead anyway! I can’t help thinking that Hughton wanted a bigger wage than Mackay and rightfully so. This was probably the point where the club started to go tits up! My Gran used to say “If you buy cheap, you buy twice” She was right!

So it is true according to wep that haugaard as to play every game until the end of the season. That is absolute ridiculous

Who was the dickhead that sanctioned this deal? That’s what I want to know!

“A man who applied for the vacant Latics managerial post in November 2014, only to lose out to a certain M. Mackay.”

Well if that bit is true then the club is a fucking joke!

Well the four who were not midfielders were Haugard, Warnock, Burn and Buxton. The other Sevens favoured positions are midfield.
This puts Overhyped and Hanson out of position.
Power has been out of form all season and Haugard well that speaks for itself.

So who would you play up front instead of Obertan?
Who you you play at right back instead of Hanson?
Power isn’t out of form he’s just not good enough at this level but I don’t think there is an obvious replacement. And if Barrow has been ordered to play Haugaard how can that be his fault.

Using you logic every game has had players out of position, including the last two which were won, which is hardly surprising given the number of midfield players in the squad, whatever your definition of that might be, and that’s not Barrow’s fault either.

Easy to be a smart arse after the event.
The bottom line is, whoever you play in whatever position, the players at our disposal are not good enough at this level which is why we are where we are and nailed on for relegation.
I wouldn’t blame Barrow either as he has merely temporarily ( Let’s hope so!) inherited this squad but who do you think is to blame for the shambles of a squad that has been assembled? Caldwell in his first ever managerial job? Always going to be a risk in this division and let’s face it any Tom Dick or Harry could have steered us out of League One with the resources that we had! Then came Joyce, another with no proper managerial skills, a man out of his comfort zone ( Man Utd ) and totally bereft of any contingency plans! Add to that combo a chairman who is very much a tyro himself and we had a disaster waiting to happen! I also think that the recruitment team need a mention in this calamitous period the club is going through! ;) Some truly baffling decisions made by the club that have not only left people scratching their heads but have seen us all but relegated…..Again!

If the emission of Gilks is down to this having to pay a fee scenario then wtf was he doing on the bench?. Had captain calamity been sent off or gone off injured then what?. If they were willing to bring him on if kid cockup went off then why not start him in a game with 5 million riding on it.

So he was on the bench with bad wind? :) Joking aside, this is one of many fuck ups this season by an inept board!

There has been some pretty dire decisions by the club since we got that proverbial 2nd bite of the cherry! It’s ok holding your hand up and saying ‘Sorry’ but I’m sorry but that isn’t good enough and neither are you. Do the honourable thing and tell your ‘Gran Pops’ you ain’t up to it!
Some may say a controversial comment but not far from the truth in reality!

Can’t understand why Gilks wasn’t played, surely we stand to lose more money going down than what it would have cost us extra to play him? The Stoke lad had a nightmare according to the Five live commentary!
