What about Ken Cowap he owned an amusement arcade on the old Market square cant remember much about him except me and my mate were chatting to him in his arcade and when we said we were Latics fans he asked us to carry a couple of boxes to his Jaguar boot, when we opened the boot it was crammed with bank notes more money than Ive ever seen in my life litteraly thousands and thousands and thousands.
Seemed a nice bloke though lol
.
Nice bloke or not, I’d have banged him out, swapped him for his cash in his boot, and emigrated.
You can take the boy from Skem…
Speaking to my mate who is a Bolton fan and relating the thread about the stadium being too big and some wanting the capacity reducing.
Firstly he couldn’t believe that fans wanted a smaller stadium
Secondly he had what he considered a great suggestion which was to build a Normid in the corner, it certainly reduced their capacity at Burnden. Put it in the right corner and it might also stop some of the noise escaping and keep the atmosphere in and enable us to stage concerts.
He isn’t looking forward to Sunday.
Needless to say I am not a fan of his suggestion, nor the idea of reducing the capacity.Firstly he couldn’t believe that (a few forum posters) fans wanted a smaller stadium
How much was it for a lad n a dad in the south this season £275?Think we’ll go West this season for the extra 40 sheets
If you go in the West remember you need to take a flask, Uncle Joe’s, and wear Thinsulate gloves at all times. You’re only allowed to tut but you can sigh loudly.
Apparently the chairman and Barton are very close. He wanted him before he got banned. At least Barton won’t be on talk sport as much talking shyteDid they meet in jail?
”Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that”
The events involving his own club on 15/4/1989 proved how wrong he was.
I’d never fight with opposition fans over football. Why? Because we support different teams? And? I’m beyond all that crap.
Only fans I’ve ever had disagreements with or been pissed off with at a game, are Latics fans.
Now that does surprise me.
I don’t think we were helped with the paras jumping into the stadium.
The timing was cocked up, the players came out, shook hands, ran to warm up….then were shepherded off the pitch again to let the 3 paras land safely. They then had a wait of about 5 minutes until all that was done, before we could kick off.
We then started very sluggish, and almost conceeded about 3 times in the first ten minutes. I’m all for supporting the armed forces and all that, but I’d rather the club cut out these fancy ideas and just concentrate on the football and winning games. It’s not the players or coaching staffs fault, but the delay didn’t help us one bit, and it could’ve lost us that game today. Rotherham worked very hard, and we weren’t clever enough to break them down.
But, we didn’t lose, we gained a point, and Blackburn dropped 2 with that late goal. Win on Tuesday and today’s point will be a big one. Having an off day but not losing…not so bad.
Fuck me Dave, that post is so condescending. To blame the paras is a total disgrace, didn’t both teams have to wait for the paras to do their stuff? . That had no effect on the game and to think it did hang your head in shame. The reason we struggled was a mixture of the battling for every ball by the Millers and the failings of the referee to know the difference between a foul and a fair challenge.
Not condescending at all. There’s a time and a place. If I want to see parachutists like that, I’ll go to a military or air show. I go to the DW to watch Latics, and hopefully watch us win. The delay disrupted us, and we started sluggish, almost conceeding straight away.
I wasn’t blaming the actual Paras you buffoon, I blame the club for planning it. Let’s actually achieve what we want to achieve, before we start turning the stadium into a fucking carnival. We are here to win football games, so I don’t give a shit about anything else. If you don’t like that, tough.
The club did the right thing. The world doesn’t revolve around football. Anybody who thinks it does is pretty sad.

And on the flip-side, my eleven year old lad was desperate to go to Fleetwood, but we can’t because he has a rugby match that day.Not that desperate then.
‘None so blind as those that will not see’. 442 would have us already promoted with an even higher goal difference and we would be playing in a FA Cup semi final.
Bloody rubbish Wigan. Cook out!
‘…and last time we beat Man city we got relegated.’
No we didn’t
Bring back ‘Lara’s theme’ played at Springy.
The actual powers that be don’t want little Wigan in the last four, not when it boils down to it. They’ll be quite happy with who they have got in the semis. I reckon a Chelsea v Spurs final, a replay of the 69/70 final.
Imagine if a Latics v Rochdale Semi had happened. The F.A. wouldve been balking.
Southampton WERE better, but we gave them a really good game. Had we took a chance in the few we had in the first half, I think we could’ve won. That said, they scored two, Walton did that world class penalty save, and also pulled off a couple of other great saves….They should’ve scored when Byrne passed straight to their player in our area…I was sure they’d score. What a save. So we could easily have lost 4 nil.
We lost but with our heads held high. We move on now and every game we play now is a cup final.
The Chelsea v Spurs final, was 66/67. The 69/70 final was Chelsea v Leeds, the finest example of the ‘beautiful game’.
Oh and BTW, the best team always wins.
Haven’t I heard the revered Mr Morinhio say, on more than a few occasions “The best team lost”?!!! Must be right.
Anyway, we were brill. It was a great game of football and the Wigan team put a bloody good shift in. I’ve enjoyed this ‘Cup’ rnu. Well done and thanks. What a fantastic penalty save.
OK sorry, if that’s what he’s said. Mr Mourinho is always right, isn’t he?

Under no circumstances or under any conditions should they bring back the music when we score.
It’s the Wigan Run Festival. The 5k should be OK. I hope there’s no stragglers on the half marathon!
