Who is this someone who will buy us, share with Saints or build a new stadium? People weren’t fighting to save us until Danson came along (at the 11th hour).
I think people packed in shouting ‘shoot’ when one went for a throw in.
Decimalisation was in February 1971, before we played Goole away that season. I’m thinking more like 10p-12p for mild/bitter. I was only sixteen (looked about 12) and didn’t try to get a pint there!
People have a choice whether to buy or not, it’s not mandatory.
‘So you resign at work but you say to your boss errrr I’m leaving but on my terms and I’ll pick the date when I want to go so I can get paid till my new job starts.’
Isn’t that similar to what Johnson did? Mind you, he’s a cnut too.
There was a football game on the Saturday and Whelan refused permission for the rugby to play their home play-off on the Friday night. It happened again in 2017 when a home game with Widnes was switched at 2 hours notice after they were told the pitch wasn’t fit to host two games in two days (Latics were playing Forest on Saturday).
Yes, Latics were in the Premier League then and the rugby were refused permission to play their home play-off on the Friday night and rightly so. The time to prepare for the football match was too short. Other dates were offered but Sky wanted it on the Friday night, so it wasn’t all down to Dave Whelan.
Why were the rugby made to play at Widnes and by whom?
Did you go to a football game when they were under the previous same ownership?
My neighbour watched the match at a local pub with his son. I live within a 20 minute walk of the DW. The pub in question is about the same distance.
Dave Whelan is 86 and not in the best of health. He also didn’t wany his family carrying the burden of running a football club. He’s done more than enough.
“What honest words can you say that will convince me to spend my hard earned money on a new season ticket ?”
You’re a Latics fan.
I’ve decided not to renew the first time since the mid 80’s.
Oh dear, what a shame, never mind.
Early Saturday morning starts for away trips arranged night before in pub during normal Friday night sessions (wouldn’t have liked to chance a breathalyser then).
Perhaps When Saturday Comes need to edit this posting:

Yes, listening to Gerald Sinstadt, it would have been March 1986.
I do not know when, or care, when the rugby played Castleford, but he refers to Everton signing Warren Aspinall, which was on 4 February 1986.
The piece featured both Latics and Wimbledon, which is a ‘tennis town’, who were going for and achieved promotion to the first division finishing third behind Norwich and Charlton. Latics were going for promotion from the third division but finished fourth behind Reading, Plymouth and Derby the year before play offs were introduced.
I don’t know why Doris was invited by the BBC for opinions on Wigan Athletic. As the ‘let’s all be friends’ brigade point out ‘They are two different sports?’ They didn’t ask Boris Becker for comments about Wimbledon.
