James was also a lucky lad for not getting sent off for his first half injury time foul on’t Rovers Mon.

wanker
Well done, you – 6 letters!! See if you can get a 7 next
An unfashionable club flying high in the Premiership because when they sold their star players they replaced them with star players. Not £100,000 Scottish div standard.
Take note Whelan. Wigan Athletic used to have a side like that, Valencia, Palacios, Baines, N’Zogbia etc and he sold the lot to line his own pockets. He never wanted success, Just Sky’s tv money. Winning the F.A Cup was just an extraordinary fluke that gave the facade that he was interested about Wigan Athletic.
Right yosser, I know most of the stuff you spout is just out of devilment but your anti- owner campaign is baffling. You compare us to Southampton a club who has a Div 4 club 20 odd mile to the east and 2 more lower league clubs an internal flight away to the west unlike us who have 4 of the biggest clubs in Britain a bus ride away and who Wigan folk have historically supported for ever. If you started a new club up tomorrow with billions to spend you could not find a tougher place geographically to put it than Wigan. Despite all the hurdles this club has faced it has jumped every one and kept going. All the Olligarchs and Sheiks who throw obscene amounts of cash at their respective clubs have not transformed them as much as Mr Whelan has here at Wigan. Despite having a fraction of the wealth of these guys uncle Dave has masterminded a rise unmatched anywhere in European football and unlike the aforementioned billionaires, Mr Whelan has done it himself. He hasn’t just hired the most expensive and biggest names in football to oversee the plans he has been hands on and lead from the front. Another thing that sets him apart from the other owners is that he knows the trials and tribulations of running a club having himself played at the highest level.
You are entitled to your opinion yosser and your beliefs and on here you will always get debate. I too am entitled to my opinion and that is that if you take everything into consideration like the size of the club the finances available and where we lie geographically then take the success that Mr Whelan has engineered. I reckon we have the best chairman in world football and would put up his achievements against anybody’s.
I can’t believe you are biting, he doesn’t even really believe it himself. He’s not that daft.
The article started off: Chris Griffin says…… ;)Highly, highly unlikely! ;)
Just read this so at least I’m not on my own :cheer:The move proved effective, and the Frenchman caught the eye with his enthusiasm and movement up top, as Latics continued to push for a late winner.
Who wrote that, Helen Keller?
However, when the whole warchest thing and selling all the assets every season became apparent bollocks, i started to lose interest. I scrapped my season ticket when Bruce left and the ‘stars’ were sold. We had an opportunity to kick on but Whelan didn’t want that. The revenue thing would have been worth a lot more with higher premiership finishes and there was every chance of that happening without any financial worry.
I can honestly understand people being reluctant on Delort but I really think the lad is trying, like a demented puppy would, to impress. Its like a dog that gets 20 mins out on a lead, pulling. Let him off the leash and let him have a run. It would be a different story imo with the change of formation now suiting better than before. He could be prolific with a goal this lad and I know that’s probably more than a leap of faith for most. Stuart Barlow used to do next to nothing but score. It was good to see Malky bring him back in the fold at least and the crowd seemed very happy to see him at least.
Anyway a good effort from all and the place seems a lot lighter.I was actually glad to see him be given a go, and all it proved to me is I still don’t think he is the answer, and I spoke to no-one after who disagreed. Didn’t speak to many, granted.
A lot of positives from yesterday. I actually really enjoyed the game and our passion, absolutely led my James McClean’s attitude and Waghorn’s willing. He got a yellow when McClean got brought down running away but he was straight over backing his team mate up. (How did their lad not get a yellow?) When Delort came on, there was the same interaction between him and McClean I noticed. These are lads that are trying for each other. Can’t believe even when fit Waghorn wasn’t one of the first names on the teamsheet. He did tire badly but that will come, he put plenty in.
Love watching Kvist, how was this lad not getting a game, really held us together, don’t think he gave the ball away once? I thought Forshaw was excellent for a time, he’ll get there. Felt McCann was a bit lost out wide, would prefer him in the middle instead of Watson, who I do feel sorry for but he slows the game too much for the position we’re in. Barnett scares the absolute life out of me but can’t complain too much with his positioning for the goal line clearance.
Still feel we need an out and out goalscorer on the pitch to take the chances that Waghorn and McCleans energy will provide, I would still give Delort his opportunity in this team as I’d swap McCann back to Watson and move Waghorn. Our defence is poor and we’ll probably need to score at least 2 to win a game.
We’ll be beating teams soon playing this team this way, hopefully we inc Malky have turned a corner. Look forward to next week for the first time in a while.
Agree with 99% of that Tez but I’m sorry, I’m still not having Delort! Put a poper striker up there yes to allow MacClean to move wide but a demented puppy scurrying around in circles is not the answer. I know he only had 15-20 minutes to show what he can do, but he didn’t give me any indication that an extended run would be any better.
Two weeks left of the window to rectify that situation. Let’s see. 21 games to go, almost half a season.
Has the original poster got any idea how much the Liebherr’ family are worth in comparison to Dave Whelan & thus how much they can put into Southampton or how much they can put up as security so banks will allow overdrafts/loans etc??
Their wealth makes Dave Whelan look like he’s on the dole. You should/could have ended that sentence after the bold bit. For a clever lad, Yosser has always been a bit of a prick when it comes to Whelan. Him and Bickymon must have been sacked from the same sweeping up jobs in the JJB warehouse.
James was also a lucky lad for not getting sent off for his first half injury time foul on’t Rovers Mon.

TitGenius!
This is what I typed at the end of my original post…
I bet his response is a simple (pun intended) one-worder, probably either “prick” or “nob”
… but it didn’t display, presumably because I enclosed it in square brackets.
However, it’s good to see that your “I don’t know how to construct a proper counter-argument so I’ll just post shite” vocabulary is expanding.
It seems Mackay”s trying to put together a team of steady eddie’s, older heads to pull us out the muck pit and refuses to take chances and use all options already here. Then we have the nerve took look at some dutch striker having froze out the last 2 purchases. With a knickname of “Immobile lamppost’ he should fit in well with ‘Roadcone Ramis’ and “Kerb crawl Kiernan’
The nerve?
Don’t you think that because the last two strikers were “frozen out” by a manager who clearly doesn’t rate them therefore needs to replace them?
In fact, don’t you think at all?
Or did you just manufacture that post to make those awful nickname pun-type comments?
Who are these pegs, though? We’ve just let Tavernier go, who was first-choice right wing back for a month. And that five-man midfield is losing some flair with Espinoza and Maloney departing. Are we going to see a return to Boyce at right wing back? Or at centre half, with Perch going out there? Could Barnett please replace Kiernan? Are Wastson, McCann and Cowie too similar to play together? Will we ever see Huws or Kwist again? That’s the question isn’t it, and until the end of January we probably won’t know. With what we have now, and given what I think I know of Mackay’s thinking, and assumig no injuries, and without thunking too deeply about it, how’s about this?:-
Carson
Boyce Ramis Kiernan
Perch Ridgewell
Mccann Kvist Forshaw
MacClean Waghorn
Not convinced about Kiernan, and I would have put Ridgewell there except I can’t see who else could play LWB. Maybe put Perch there with Boyce as RWB, as you alluded to Martin, and bring in Taylor, or Caldwell or Rogne??? Not convinced about that either, but there are two weeks of the transfer window left.
And before someobody jumps in with their size tens about MacClean not being a proper striker I’ll refer to you to my qualifier above: “and given what I think I know of Mackay’s thinking”.
I’ll leave you all to pull that to pieces. I have a full day ahead of me, I’m afraid. ;)
Did I just hear that right?? The team third in the Premier League play 4-2-3-1???? Surely not.
The Prem is a whole different beast! The championship on the other hand is a league were 4-4-2 has reaped the benefits more than any other formation! Now if playing 4-4-2 consistently for several games on the trot doesn’t come to fruition then it can be deemed not the answer for us, but until then……………….
You do realise it’s possible to play two up front without rigidly lining up as 442 don’t you? No, probably not.
Yes I do, not sure why you are trying to be condescending with me? I mentioned once before that formations can be misleading and ambiguous the best of times but we have been playing an actual lone striker with no foil or support for quite a while now! Only in the last few games have we seen this change albeit without a recognised striker! We can’t have it all I guess!
It’s just your turn ;)
I’ve said it many times before, with the right pegs in the right holes, 3-5-2 would be my preference, if we are insisting on giving it a name.
Te Vrede has been with Feyenoord since 2012, but has only made 18 league appearances in which he has scored eight goals, while also adding three in Europe this season. With a goalscoring record like that why would we want him?
8 in 18? What’s wrong with that?
Good news indeed, thanks
