I don’t really know on what you are basing your opinion. Jeff Wright was a very good footballer, probably one of the best passers, of his time, ever to play for Wigan Athletic. The fact that he wasn’t considered aggressive enough and didn’t get “stuck in” clouded many people’s judgement of him. I think if he was playing in today’s game with its less physical demands people would view him differently.
Agreed. Wright seems to get the same treatment that Michael O’Neill always got. And it looks as if Jordi Gomez is already going the same way.

I would guess it would be straight down there, but you’ll be there very early for the museum thingy…If you have kids this costs roughly the same cost as a ticket, but you get the extras, its excellent value. If my kids were old enough to do away matches I’d be on in a shot…

2nd, yes, I think he is recognised as a striker, albeit in many people’s opinion, not a very good one. I think 20-odd goals in a championship side gives you the right to call yourself a striker.

After reading that, it struck me that a sports retailer with every football fan in the country as a potential customer would probably be best advised NOT to associate itself too closely with ONE team.
After all, we’re a fickle bunch us supporters. We tend to be loyal to one team, no matter what. Well, some of us are, but maybe not all?This loyalty is usually to the exclusion of all others and even shows itself as hatred of some rival teams. How do you think the average Bolton fan felt knowing that if he spent his money in JJB then it would benefit Wigan Athletic?

This was (allegedly) the exact reason why Whelan didn’t want to buy United because he was afraid it would alienate supporters in Liverpool and London, etc.

We need to vastly improve our home form and it needs to start against Wet Spam …I can’t take anyone seriously who refers to West Ham as Wet Spam. My five year-old would get a clip round the ear for being childish if he did it. It’s like calling rugby “thugby”. It’s pathetic really.

The team, chairman and manager may well be doing all they can, the sad thing is the fans are not. I have never known such a depressingly quiet set of fans…. The fans so far this season have been pathetic and nobody can argue otherwise. If the crowd really is the 12th man, at home were playing a man short.It’s been the same for years I’m afraid, and I would have to hold up my hand as being as guilty as the next man. The problem is that in a crowd of 76,000 at Old Trafford, for example, there will be many, many quiet ones but they are compensated for by the more vocal ones. Let’s say that even 10% of our home 12,000 are hard-core “singers” they will simply rattle around in the JJB. We need a drum and a trumpet :geek:
