My best mate that!!! Thought he wasn’t going to make it to the Sky studio’s as we were at a wedding the day before!
He said he went absolutely bizzerk when they scored the winner!!
Abram – Spot on with that!! Thought Bramble had a good game too.
Played a blinder again today. Think this guy is top notch, fast, can move the ball around and very strong.
Bob – sign him up!!!
As people know me, I too said I wouldn’t judge Martinez on this first season, I think a lot of managers would struggle coming into a team where their best players had been sold.
Anyway, thought today we looked bright but also a nervous. For our players not to keep their shape on the pitch is pretty poor, there were a few times today when we looked completely out of shape and disorganised. I was feeling a bit angry just after half time, I was talking to some guy and said it is a shame that these very talented players don’t work to their full potential and seem to have very little fire in their bellies – I think the players must have heard me!!!! What a comeback!
I thought Diame again had a good match, constantly winning balls in our own half and starting attacks, thought Steve Gohuri looked very solid again, think this guy should get a contract. Morano also looked good but I don’t think he is suited to 451 or 433, he seems to be a traditional centre forward, I would like to see him and Rodders up front together but I know it isn’t going to happen.
When I saw Watson and McCarthy together in midfield I thought they would be completely overrun – I think Watson is a very good player and was glad that he had been out on loan so he could get football matches, it seems to have paid off. Both worked very hard and I am glad Watson got a goal…think he has scored a few for Wigan since coming here.
overall, very happy. Think we are safe, Hull have to win all of their remaining matches and we have to loose all of ours.
I share the same feelings as most people on this board. Living in Wigan in the 80’s and 90’s as a kid was rubbish for a Latics fan. Now, I don’t mind the fact about them lot winning a lot of trophy’s.. credit where credit is due in my view, but it is the way that only one team could exist is testament to how arrogant and one track minded those lot are.
Everyone got on the bandwagon, I remember at school when someone from the rugby club came in and my teacher (Mrs WRLFC) introduced me to him, she kicked me out of class because I genuinely had no idea who is was (and she knew I was a Latics fan)! I got sacked from Tom Rathbone’s place for wearing a JJB Latics top……FFS! Them-lot were wearing JJB on their shirts!!
Now we deal with egg chasers who make it a point of putting Liverpool or Man U shirts or stickers in their car next to their WRLFC stickers – these are the same die hard “Rugby is the only sport for me” people – this is out of pure spite for their local premiership football team.
So, is it about a rugby team and a football team or is it about Wiganer’s mentality in general? Can’t help but think if Leeds or Hull won their rugby cup, the football supporters of the town would be all behind them and vice versa.
I would like to think that would happen here but it’s not likely as BOTH sets of fans will not back down and I include myself in that statement. (and this pains me to say it…) but if both fans got together, both clubs would benefit through extra gate receipts and profile….
It’s illigal to resell train tickets.
Thought we were unlucky tonight, an own goal and a bad deflection. I suppose it is the luck of a side with zero confidence.
There were too many stray balls played tonight and the players looked a bit tired. After a goal down I thought that would be it but we got a goal back and looked ok after that. Can’t remember when we last came from a goal down. I noticed we looked a bit unorganized at times and wanted to run with the ball too often instead of finding some space.
Thought Moreno had his best game for is and was unlucky with his shot in the second – he is getting better with each game.
A side with plenty of skill but with zero confidence….just hope we can get something from the Burnley game.
1. given that our midfield players seem to be very slow in getting forward to support the lone striker, what instructions are each of our 5 midfield players given in terms of going forward ?2. so that we may be able to witness what better things may possibly lay ahead for us, is there a premiership or european team whose style of play we are trying to emulate ?
Two very good questions!
I would even extend question 1 to “Diame, Sharner and Thomas look to be very similar players in that they are defensive midfielders and ball winners – do you think that this is the main cause of limited service to the lone striker up front? What are the instructions that you give to Rodders, Charles and Jimmy to support the lone striker?”
Nice to know he is keeping his head down and staying out of trouble…
was thinking of going myself as I work in the City……still thinking about it actually :?
LMB – the reasons that some of your questions will not get asked is that they don’t adress your so called “real problems”
i)Why is graham barrow at Wigan athletic ?
Why does this matter, he picks the reserve side and has very little to do with first team action?? Is this really a problem for us at the minute?
ii)Is there a reason we have conceded so many goals this season ?
You expecting an answer to this? How would you answer this question?
iii)Do you honestly believe that management and ALL the players are pulling together ?
See above…he isn’t going to say no is he?
iv)Why does he still continue to use a system week in week out that 95% of the supporters don’t understand, most of English footballs managers despise, our players are totally out of touch with and is clearly not working ?
OK, I think you have a good question here but it needs to be less of an attacking statement. I would like to know why he playes the formation that he does and why he thinks it hasn’t been as effective as he thought it would be. I personally think it is a better tatic that booting it up to the front man but I also think we should play 442 at home, what would be the reason for not playing 442 at home?
my 2p worth anyhow :)
I didn’t with some of the crap he posts on here.
Loudmouth, why don’t you go to the meeting and boo through the door or something? :o
Well Jay, the scarf question has to be at the top of the list ;)
Ok – I thought there would be loads of questions already….
Anyway, I would like to ask Bob….
In a recent news article, you stated you would need two or three transfer windows to get the team right. Do you still stand by this and what sorts of players (including their technical attributes) would you be looking for?
Also, ask him why he doesn’t wear a Wigan Athletic scarf in the same way Manchini does at city ;)
‘Do you agree with players playing out of position?’
Who plays out of position? If you mean Rodallega, then no. At present though, he doesn’t even warrant his place in the team in my opinion. N’zogbia? Yes. He’s more dangerous coming in from the right.Standish – you have hit the nail on the head there. I was going to post something similar but I am loosing interest in posting sensible stuff at the moment, mainly due to the amount of either thugby windup’s or maybe Swansea windup’s….never heard of some of these people and I have been posting on here for some time…
Anyhoo, I would like to see Rodders start from the bench for one game, he is lacking confidence and is getting very frustrated. I think maybe Scotland and Moses would be good, just give Rodders a break.
Looking forward to the game on Monday, just finished a very Long assignment in the City so will be back in the North west for the next 6 months (at least).
