Not a bad decision by Whelan (I know you don’t want to hear that)
At the end of the day, Whelan cant keep pouring money into the club. I recon after the first season, he put prices up to increase the revenue, it backfired.
Now he is balancing the books by bringing in unknown talent and selling them at a higher price to keep the club in the black.
….I think some people want to see Whelan do a Ridesdale….spend everything and run up massive debts just for the sake of it.
I agree with Faz – I don’t think we have a bad squad. I am worried if something happens to Hugo as we seem a bit light up front, but to be honest, playing 1 up front every game is fairly light anyway.
I am sure Whelan doesn’t want to go down on purpose, but, it is strange some of the things that have happened…£12M for Turner at Hull, but we get £6M (rising to £8M) – How is Turner £4M better?

Our squad is the worst i’ve seen for many a year our Championship team would have murdered this team. We have sold quality and replaced them with whale Championship players who just are not good enough.

Hindley – Out of the players we have let go, I think we have replaced them with just as good or better:
Palacios – Thomas (I think this guy will be a blinder in a few games)
Cattemole – Diame (As above)
Valencia – Sinclair (gets more involved with the game, looks sharp, just needs to gel)
Heskey – Scotland…….err..give him time?!
Brown – Gomez – He will be the Arteta of WiganSo all in all, where do you think we have replaced players (Who I think we have got over the odds money wise for – except Cattemole) who are deemed unsuitable? (OK, I will give you Scotland!)
I agree it was a clear penalty but do you really think that would have been given in the other box?

How much should he invest with no return? He has probably been doing this since 1995…investing with no return. If you think of the money we had spent in the lower leagues on trying to gain promotion etc….bet it all adds up.

Boyce – looks a bit rusty at the moment but more games will improve him

Diame – Think he will be better than Cattemole…just needs time
Thomas – reminds me of Palacios…but needs time
N’Zogbia – He is OK, just needs to focus on his final ball (If he decides to pass it)
Sharner – not a midfielder
Sinclair – Has the skill, needs to Gel
Gomez – I think he is a class act, a bit like Arteta…needs time to pick up the pace though

We didn’t get the players we wanted today, and thats disappointing, but we will look at what we can learn from this/we will take the positives….

(4) I doubt that we would get an extra 3000 fans if we bought Ronaldo for £100M – I am a season ticket holder and always have been – I think lower attendances are due to people being skint, free T.V. in pubs and also the late commers to latics – they have never thought about putting money aside for a season ticket because they never had to, unlike me who always puts money aside ;)
(5) So what you are saying is invest all of the money for the sake of it? Why?….I recon Whelan is creating a nice nest egg for when he leaves us in the same way Jack Walker did for Blackburn….who actualy thinks we would suvive a season without Whelan???

depends…he owns the stadium or Whelco holdings do, so why would he give up Whelco’s reneue stream and give it to Wigan Football club ltd?
