I wasn’t very impressed in the final minute of added time at the end of the first half yesterday when Stam took a short one and it ended up back on the half way line when the ref blew, with Caldwell, Boyce and Di Santo all in the area waiting for a cross.

I get your point Brummie, it boils down to the manager telling the team how to play. That includes having more of a purpose up front, ie, more balls into the box and shoot on sight..
I would bet my left testicle Roberto tells his players nothing even remotely like don’t put balls into the box or shoot when an opportunity presents itself.

Balls into the box are a big part of the 3-4-3 (or whatever hybrid at the time) system we play.

Look at the back end of last season and the amount of crosses Beausajor and Boyce were putting in to the danger area.

The problem is that with our CB’s injured it means Boyce in the centre and Stam at RWB who for some reason seems to fluff every cross he gets the opportunity to put in after doing really well to put himself in a position to do so!

This coupled with Beausajor’s unfortunate spell of poor form has resulted in our crosses from our WB positions becoming non existent.

If we dont get another CB or RWB in during the transfer window I can see us going to a back four in the near future.

The sad thing is that the little I seen of Miyachi at Bolton was that he can put a decent ball into the box.
I understand, but it’s Bob who picks the side & tac tics. Stam gets blamed for a lot but why does Bob still pick him then? He seems reluctant to try other players even when we have injuries.
Personally, I would have put Golobart in at CB & put Boyce at RWB.

I don’t see Bob urging them forward on the side line when we are going backwards from a corner. He seems to accept it which tells me that it is his preferred way! Possession footy is ok if you are creating chances!

And to pick you up on your earlier comment about Stams poor cross into the box for our first goal… See what can happen against a poor team when you throw a ball into the box…. I’d happily take more scruffy goals if it meant picking up three points

Didn’t see any quality, which game did you watch James?
His one touch passes creating openings for the wide men were superb

Di Santo please fook off

Henriquez and Espinoza – There is hope !!

I know it’s early days and the first time i’ve seen him but, do you think there is hope with Espinoza?
Plenty of effort but, i didn’t see any quality with him today. Maybe he was trying too hard
Have you ever played football? All he’s short of is a good haircut.

Looks a bit too much like Mickey Flanagan, for my liking ;)

 Mickey Flanagan with a sun tan.. Oh and yes i do play footy, badly these days though, maybe i can see some of him in me?

Lowey, i’m talkin about his fluffed shot / cross at the edge of the 18yd box, header in midfield to two of their players… not sure what he was attempting but either way, no composure shown.

Agree though, plenty of energy & urgency from him which is something we are badly missing. Let’s hope he proves me wrong, I won’t be bothered if he does.

Here we are again in a position where we have to scrap and fight for everything. That means EVERYBODY working hard in Defence Midfield & Upfront.
So why is it that Senor Gomez continues to ‘strut’ around like he’s in a training session……his work rate is just not enough and I don’t think I saw him trying to win the ball back or put his foot on a tackle throughout the whole game!!!
Yes he has the ability to put in a killer pass, but there were times in the game when I forgot he was on the pitch!!!…
He’s a lazy arse and why should we carry him…we havent got that luxury!!

I’ll just go off the number of posts this numpty as had on the forum to judge my verdict of the poster
Isn’t that comment a bit materialistic thty5yearswafc … Like saying Wigan shouldn’t be in the prem cos we get sh !te crowds.
Doesn’t matter how many posts you have, it’s an opinion expressed on a message board at the end of the day…

Personally I don’t think the wing back set up is working any more as teams have sussed us out which is no surprise really ! Being bereft of alternative tactics could be our downfall !

Wasn’t it Bob that said he didn’t like the rigidity of the 4-4-2 formation a while back? You need options in a team to counter different types of opposition and bob doesn’t, he only has the one way.
I’m a bit lost as to why he only had Di Santo on at the start up front. Di Santo was everywhere bar where he should have been today.
We looked a lot more threatening when we had two strikers on the pitch

Yep, we were not good defensively today, I think Bob got it wrong personally. Why didn’t Golobart play as centre back and Boyce as RWB. Stam didn’t have too bad a game but he can’t defend and Sunderland exploited that area. A lot of their play came down our right hand flank in the first half.

By the way, Adam Johnson could give Tom Daley a run for his money when it comes to diving…

For a minute there I thought you’d resurrected an old thread about Victor Moses!

Is that the one with a link to youtube showing him score loads of fantastic goals with either foot… and then came to us en couldn’t hit a barn door.

Palace seem to be in a rich vein of form when it comes to young footy players. Wouldn’t mind signing their scout to be honest.

Let’s hope we can get him to come to us to “play footy” rather than the “hackers”

”He won’t get you many goals”

Am I wrong in thinking he’s got 19 in the worst side Leeds have had in the last few years?

Looks more like a goalscorer than a hard worker ever time I’ve seen him but then again so did Bosselli

We’ve seen it before though with players who get plenty in the championship but fail in the prem.
Don’t know what figures they are talking for him but worth a punt maybe? IMO we need more service from midfield with a splash of quality to the front men and we might start scoring more.

Although he hasn’t done anything… I still don’t believe he has been given a ‘fair crack of the whip’ so to speak.. If it actually is a case of having to ‘adapt’ to the premier league, he DEFINITELY hasn’t been given enough gametime.

That being said it doesn’t look like they’re going to give him the chance, or not enough of one anyway, so would like to see a new Striker brought in even if it is at the expense of losing Bosselli. :pinch:

My sentiments exactly jamesc, Estudiantes obviously know how to play him cos he has a goal ration of 1 in 2 for them (or there abouts).

Talk Sport were on about Becchio coming to us this morning. Their comments were, he won’t get you many goals but will give it all in effort, is that what we need?

wouldn’t mind seeing Golobart come in at centre back for Ramis leaving Boyce as rwb.

Boselli goal on news, that isnt the strike and goal of a shit striker

Thought the same aceface, but then thought Di Santo has scored some crackers as well.
Think Boselli is being harshly criticized on here. I still think given a decent run in the side he might prove a few people wrong?
…… Wait for it….

Nothing booked yet but will be somewhere warm. Went to Cornwall last year and didn’t get much sun… Fair to say i won’t be going anywhere as extravagant as some of the places mentioned above

TBH when I read it back I thought I sounded like a right twat!

Most of the big trips are really work with a couple of days tagged on to the start or end.
Hawaii – now that’s a place i’ve always fancied. One for when the kids have flown the nest though i think (so i can enjoy it  )

All depends on the team Bob picks. If we have more first teamers in then a win, but we know what Bobs like so it could be a loss.
Grabban is back for Bournemouth which might give them a bit more up front

So basically, to summarise what you said, we will either win, or we will lose… Good input :P

And Bickymon.. How pessimistic! B)
Basically yes, that’s how it will end up tonight

You can be the eternal optimist if you like, but i’ll base my predictions on Bobs recent performances in the cup competitions. Should win, but probably will not
