I’m not too fussed about formations myself Abram and as you say our midfield don’t support at the moment. Whole idea of one up front is for the midfield / wingbacks to get forward & support but we don’t.
Too many defensive minded midfielders on the pitch so something has to change.Lostock, Its only loyalty that I am going. Ive packed in going away. I’m not spending good money to have my day ruined. When Joyce realises people come to be entertained You wouldn’t pay to go and watch your favourite band only for them to mime the whole show would you?
Belle Vue on Friday nights from March :)
BRING BACK SPEEDWAY TO WIGAN ;)I really hope we start playing well and winning games again, so that fans like you will start watching them again.
I’ll let you all know when it happens.
I fekin despair!
Why do you despair jr? You try making so many fundamental mistakes as Joyce is in your job marrer and see how long you last. You cannot blame fans for being mad and upset. No fan of any club will go knowing the chance of seeing your beloved team win is being drastically reduced by the manager playing lads out of position and ignoring your best strike option. Will Grigg has not become a bad player overnight more likely the fact is that this boring anti-football we have adopted simply doesn’t suit the lad. Like Ali, LHL I have watched this club all my life with pride and fulfilment and its been only the last few years that has been really hard to take. Needless as well coz it has just been down to bad managers. Still fed up and upset.
I think the last few have been tough to take because 8 years in the Prem has led people to believe we are actually a big club. We probably shouldn’t be in this league really once you take away the parachutes and we rely on what income we actually make.
I think the majority of Wigan fans realize we are not a big club Egg. It’s not to be confused with frustration.
I’ve little optimism at the moment as playing the way we are leaves too much to chance. As has been mentioned by another, best form of defence is attack and if we attacked more then we stand a better chance of coming away with something.Agree with you on prem parachute payments, we could well struggle after this year.
Well good luck to Mr Palmer & Sheff Weds. Let’s see if the home fans share his sentiment.
My opinion for what its worth…….When Grigg came on on Saturday, Wildschut came into the game more. I thought Grigg gave the midfield an “out” that wasn’t there before. His recycling of possession often with just a single touch allowed Wigan to really build pressure on Derby. The team is definitely better and more balanced with him in it. I really hope he isn’t on his way in January
Grigg showed some quality touches when he came Jon on & i too hope we keep him as he’s quality IMO. Thought first half we were poor and Yanic got next to no service at all. If they both start regularly then we could have a good partnership that see’s Grigg score plenty.
None will be easy..
If we get four points we’ll have done well.
It’s only WJ’s second home game so we’ll have to see how we play. If it’s anything like Reading we’ll get nothing. Think we’ll beat Villa though.Fickle some footy fans..
Still can’t understand why PNE have been doing so well as they were crap against us. Just goes to show how quickly we could move up this table when we improve!
Spot on Jimmy.
Knob End were crap against us and didn’t deserve three points.
I will love it ( Kevin Keegan style ) if we finish above them; and if they were to be relegated it would turn out to be a brilliant season
Dream on! And it makes me laugh when people say “they were crap against us” Every team we play seem to be crap against us!
Crap against us? They sussed out Gary’s boring predictable style against us and contained his tippy tappy walk round the park get nowhere shite football and didn’t break sweat. Granted they did scab a winner and stole another nil nil from us.
Think you two have misinterpreted my post. Wasn’t implying we were robbed or anything, just stating the fact that PNE were crap, and they were! Granted we wouldn’t have scored all night, due to Caldwells tac tics. But even that shot for their goal was crap. But for a lucky deflection would have been nearer the corner flag than the goal.
So, if a crap team like PNE can be mid table there is hope for us.
Can’t make this one so TV for me… Still not managed to get to Huddersfields new, ish ground :( .. (went to the old one)
Was it the FA Cup game at Leeds Road when we lost 4 nil?
I was there as well Jimmy quite a bit of trouble if I remember right and Mickey Taylor hit a post with one of the hardest shots I’ve ever seen.
I wasn’t at that game NL, but there was a fair bit of trouble on the day to. Naughty lot them Huddersfield fans. What year was the FA Cup game?
On my first visit City were away to Bradford the same day and a shed load of Huddersfield fans were out early to team up with Bradford. Made the pre match pint a tad more interesting.

No it was in 89 I think. Can’t remember the score? What year did they beat us in the cup?
Been twice to the old ground but just never managed to get to the new one.
Fickle some footy fans..

Mr Whelan deserves this little recognition for what he’s done for us and the rugby. Made up for him. Was good to see Boyce attend, another club legend.
Think they must have thrown a party for Dave Thursday night, I’m assuming them fireworks (at the country club I think ) were for him?Agree with Garswood, and on top of that he wanted to leave us. So not Sure i want to see him back at the DW.
Good luck chaps, fantastic experience ahead of you.
Never been a lover of booing your own players it does more damage than good IMO. We should never have bought Powell in the first place.
Can’t believe Joyce is getting the stick he is, it’s his second game for gods sake! He’s inherited a squad that is under performing, and some of these players let him down badly against Reading. So maybe he’s experimenting with positions / formations to help him with the players that are not contributing enough.
There must be some issues with Grigg that we’re not privy to. I’m hoping Joyce brings him back to his best as he has the potential to be good at this level.
Great value season ticket prices we know.
Just hope it doesn’t hamper us in the seasons after prem parachute payments runs out -
