When i read this article it makes me suspicious of their real intentions. They seem to be dressing up a so called problem for the football league, which is not an issue for me. Sounds like it’s all about the premier League & Champions League.

Take issue with some of their reasoning’s.

        Bigger attendances for weekend matches?
        Increase quality of football?
        Boost finances?

The supporters would suffer increased ticket prices to compensate for the lost games surely!

If you look through the fixture list we play one midweek match a month, apart from Sept where there is three (one of them is for Sky). Hardly arduous is it.

Think Mr Harvey is a premier League fan. Keep as is for me.

Watching Hull v Arsenal on MOTD tonight and am curious if anybody else thinks cheating is doing away with good goalies.

The incident I’m referring to is when Czech went to save at the feet of a Hull City player (can’t remember his name) who knocked it almost sideways, and then went down, as his trailing feet hit Czech. Now I know there was “contact”, but for me it was never a pen.. Czech kept himself low, and didn’t initiate the contact. But still the ref gave it. The Hull player would never have scored from the position where he kicked the ball too.

Keepers need to be brave but decisions like this could well do away GOOD keepers.

Sorry, but it’s a foul all day long. Imagine anywhere else on the pitch where a player knocks the ball past an opponent who then comes flying in late. People would be screaming for a foul
Keepers should be no different – stay on your feet & give the opposition player something to think about rather than come haring out & commit to a challenge where you’ve got no chance of getting the ball[/quote]

Understand what you are saying Tyldesley , but it is a keepers job to dive at the feet on oncoming players. Anywhere else on the pitch and i’d have to agree with you.
Czech was pretty close to getting there to be fair and when you look at the direction the ball went (sideways) and to an Arsenal defender, so no chance of another Hull player scoring, then for me the outfield player made the most of. The ref didn’t give it when it happened, think the linesman gave it?

Didn’t get that one myself. Gilbey has probably been our most consistent midfielder, but then makes way for another formation?

But, he did play well there. No surprise, but I’d still prefer his energy in the centre mid role.

Ah couldn’t agree more with you donny, I refuse to go to some away matches purely down to ticket price. Football is awash with money, but we supporters are not.

I personally think home clubs should be able to charge away fans the same price their fans were charged at the corresponding fixture. The current system of charging the same price as home fans is not right!

Smaller clubs (like us) need to attract fans, and this current pricing regime doesn’t suit us.

I reckon the club will be disappointed with the amount if season tickets sold donny? I know I am, at them prices thought we’d have sold nearer 12k.

But as Abram says, the club need match day revenue and that is going to be largely by the away fans now.

Agreed JR it was an entertaining goalless draw, but just a tad frustrating. How many times did we not hit the target with a shot…. On another day we would have beaten them.

Thought Fulham were quite cautious until late on in the game. They hit the post at the end which would have been criminal if they’d have walked away with all 3 points.

Sort them shots out and we stand a good chance against pne..

Could understand the wholesale changes in players last season and i thought some of them players were bought with the future in mind. Colclough & Morsey were supposed to be the best in that league so i can’t understand some of this seasons transfers myself.

The team needed strengthening for sure, mainly in defence & support for Grigg up front. But i wasn’t expecting the amount of signings to be honest. Thinks GC has done a bit of a Brendan Rogers where he’s bought too much and now doesn’t know his best team.

Far easier that I go. I have a life as me, not as Garswood Latic. I am a real person, who tried to help this forum along. As the general view seems to be that I have it wrong I’ll get on with being me, supporting my team (or in fact teams if I want to watch my little local club too), and playing with my grandkids. No problem. If you see me anytime come and have a pint (better if you buy :) ) and discuss Latics, or the price of fish. Up the tics.

Garswood, i shouldn’t have aimed that “hats off to you” comment your way, and on reflection think i owe you an apology.

I wouldn’t be comfortable with a long time Wigan supporter like yourself walking away from this site over comments made on a forum for Wigan fans. No hard feelings, i hope.

Now why would you want to go and do that bicky? Playing into the wind up merchants hands.

Think it best this wind up merchant is ignored JR, as Runcorn suggests too. He seems to have achieved his objective of causing trouble on a forum for a club he doesn’t even support…

                          Hats off to you Garswood!

Not so sure I agree with that statement lhl… A very good Barnsley side only beat them by one today. We got some tough games coming up before them, just hope we improve and pick some points up prior to that game.

You may wish to have a look on Vital. There’s no anti-rugby posts – in fact there’s no rugby posts whatsoever.

There’s also a very comprehensive list of rules for posting – one rule in particular caught my eye:

3 – This is a forum for discussion. That means most of the time, most of you won’t agree. Most people will debate the issue in hand as befits a discussion forum don’t make your threads personal. If you are unable to reply without making a personal comment about somebody’s belief then don’t reply and save us all the favour of having to read it. You can ‘attack’ a fellow members’ point of view, you cannot attack them for having that view.

Sadly this is where Bullitt (and others) fail. They cannot accept anyone else’s point of view and take to shouting, personal insults, name calling & comments bordering on the libellous in an attempt to shut down any alternative view.

I commend GL for his stance and his very eloquent way of explaining the role of a moderator. The easy option would have been to ban me, but as I have not subjected anyone to a vicious and personal attack, then all that action would have done was to create a site with a stance similar to North Korea.

For those of you who wish to discuss football matters with me, then I am happy to debate them till the cows come home, but please do not bring rugby into the thread. I maintain my stance that even though I do follow Wigan Warriors, I have never personally started a rugby-related thread on this site. I have no need to – I know most of you either couldn’t care less or passionately hate the sport, so to start a thread would make me a troll. All I do is defend my club using facts, links and a degree of respect equal to the person I am debating with. If you debate with me as an adult, then you’ll find my responses are far different than those who can offer nothing better than “knob”, “die”, “fck off” or any other immature response.

Bullit’s gone, and I for one wont shed a tear. Check his posting history and you’ll see that all he’s done in the last 8 months is snipe, sneer, insult and belittle. I doubt he’d last a week over on vital with that attitude.

I look forward to continuing to debate football-related topics with you in an adult fashion for a while yet….

Like most of Bullits threads, I only scan yours. But would prefer to debate with a tics fan rather than some wind up merchant. You didn’t answer my question by the way?

Bullit may have harped on continuously about rugby, but when all said and done he was a tic. I read a lot footy forums and there are much stronger characters posting than his ever were.

Still don’t know why somebody who doesn’t support Wigan frequents this site so much….
