Nathan Jones nailed on!

What’s his links to wigan though, as Lostock said he had some links?
So it’s Adkins then?
I’d take that. Definitely.
Nigel Atkins is in his 50’s not 40’s, plus he’s played for us, Sharpy has got down to a shortlist of 4, who will be interviewed in the next 3-4 weeks.

That’s where we are up to, forget all this guessing games. Directement de la bouche du cheval.

Some great responses here. Dismissing Keane out of hand and trying to promote Pearson instead. Making out he is some kind of angel in comparison. Is this the same Pearson who grabbed James McCarthur around the throat. The same Pearson who verbally insults reporters. The same Pearson who offers his own fans out and tells them to ‘fuck off’. The same Pearson who split the Leicester board room with his slanging matches. Yeah good choice. A choir boy.

He also sent Nick Powell packing during a brief loan spell, saying he would never work with a player who generally was pishing about in training.

Don’t understand the problem here. Fills group of four paid for season tickets and are included in the gate every week whether he attends or not. It’s his business if he goes or not.

No problem with that just don’t fekin go then if that’s how they feel. There is no reason to come on here telling everyone that you are not going and trying to justify why you are not going.

I don’t come on here saying I’m not buying a Latics top due to the cost, cos nobody gives a shiny shyte and that’s my decision.

This debate can end now, if you don’t want to watch the game saturday or refuse to watch them next season if Caldwell or Rosler are appointed then just do it.
We have better, more important topics to talk about than whether filmoss and his crew are going or not going to a fekin match.

Why re-hire those we deemed not good enough? A move for either would really cheese me off, and would suggest our leadership is so blinkered.

They HAVE to get this one right….no messing about.

I just find the thought of Caldwell coming back totally uninspiring and quite frankly, ridiculous. It would be a terribly lazy appointment and I couldn’t go watching his football again. No thanks.

Have you forgot it was GC who got us out of league one, what makes you think he couldn’t do it again.

Having said that I don’t believe in bringing players or managers back to the club, so hope we do look elsewhere.

Having watched most of the games this season home and away, I can understand why some fans, including me, genuinely feel that we are actually unlucky to go down.

Apart from the odd games we have competed in every one and been in those games for the majority of the 90 mins.

Individual errors have cost us, its not that teams have battered us into submission they haven’t.
I would say we have bossed probably 75% of the 46 games we’ve played but ended up missing the chances we have created and other teams have punished us for the errors we’ve made.

Before anyone calls me deluded, I am as fair as anyone when having my post match chat, if teams have been better than us I say that.

Take a look at the injuries we have had to contend with, in particularly key positions including arguably our best striker, Will Grigg and for the run in his replacement Omar Bogle, two of our best midfielders in Powell and Gilbey, our best right back come wing back, Donovan Daniels, two left backs to put pressure on Warnock, Reece James and Andy Kellett, Captain Morgan for quite a few games, goal keepers galore whether you thought they were good enough or not, don’t forget losing Bogdan and Jussi lead to us getting that disaster from Stoke.

The sacking of Caldwell, which IMHO was a tad too early. As per the previous season in league one, it took him a while to sort out his best team and gel the players, it was ironic that “Caldwell’s team” beat Cardiff away days after he was sacked and that might have put his sacking on hold, who knows what might have happened.

The gamble taken when putting Joyce in charge back fired, it led to a shed full of loan signings and the squad changed shape again. OK that was Sharpy’s mistake and he realises that now, but it looked like a decent appointment at the time.

Can anyone honestly say that that having watched Latics all season that there was only one team in the championship that looked worse than us?

I know people say the league never lies and after 46 games we had the second least points of 23 teams, but taking everything into consideration I really think we did not deserve to go down.

If you think they did, fair enough that’s your opinion, but its certainly not down to playing united and Liverpool pre-season, these are games that;

a} generate welcomed income,
b} bring in a a lot of fans that may just get hooked into watching us more often.
c} give the players the opportunity to test themselves against top class players.

Nowt wrong with the above, to me its more about getting the players to gel, so get that right during pre-season, if we play Macclesfield lets put our first team out and not a team of kids.

Here’s to a great season in league Uno.

Was quite impressed with Tunnicliffe yesterday, gave 100% and bombed forward at every opportunity. Not been a real fan of he’s up to now but was more than happy with his contribution on Saturday.
I really can’t understand why anyone wants to question his inclusion, Perkins, then yes.

What surprises me is which lunatic thinks Gary Caldwell is a candidate. The pillock who started this season of self destruction. Mind you so many insane decisions have already been made by the board would it surprise anyone if the knob head is hired again?.

Perfect choice GC, he’s took two teams out of league one in consecutive years. :S

Not having it……which ever way you analyse it …it was a defensive set up.Took Brighton to score before we changed it round……and guess what ????? we got back in the game. Remember we had nothing to lose and still the penny hasn’t dropped…..sitting around waiting for it to happen..Jesus have you not seen enough of that with 43 games gone ???..Rovers played with 2 and 3 forwards and 3 attacking midfielders and stuffed Newcastle home and away.!! Beat Forest…grabbed a valuable point today by using Mowbray recent philosophy…..”let’s make them worry about us “…Shut tactics and selection got what it deserved…F all.

Barnsley played 3 forwards against us for the full 90 mins on Thursday.
Barnsley should have been 5-0 up by the time Powell came on.
Even at 3-2 to us they should have got an equaliser late on, and that’s not counting the goal they did score that was wrongly disallowed.
I just hope a new man comes in soon to assess the squad before they all bugger off for their jollies, brings in his own back room staff and gets the squad back early for a PROPER pre season.
There are plenty players in this squad who are good enough for this league never mind League One, so hopefully with a few tweeks here and there and the right preparation, tactics and selections we will have a good season and bounce straight back.
Should have been, could have been, bleedin eck, the season is full of those things. I totally agree about our squad, good enough to finish mid table in my opinion. However, the managers, their tactics, not playing two up front etc are not responsible for players missing open goals, getting dispossessed 30 yards from goal, letting shots go right through you etc etc.

We have simply made too many glaring mistakes, teams have not had to work too hard to score against us all season, starting with Dan Burn’s back pass at Bristol City on day one.

You sometimes have to ask yourself are the players good enough or what?

That doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence if it comes off, I always say never bring back former players or managers, it very rarely works.

Scharner dispelled that theory if you look at his medal collection, but not many more have worked out.

Now come on, Barrow has played Powell superbly well, just giving him the 30 mins or so, enabling him to give his all. 5 goals from the bench is a great return, rather than him running round against fresh legs.
Barrow has got loads of things wrong, he’s definitely not the man for the job, but his handling of Powell has been bang on.
Are you saying that Powell would have scored more than 5 goals playing 270 mins rather than the 90 or so he’s played in the last 3 games?.

What did you think of Morsey’s performance against Barnsley ? What about his contribution in the 3-4 previous games before that?

The same can be said about Coco, has made an impact coming on agreed, unfortunately when he plays from start, he’s been like an also ran.

I can understand your frustrations of not being more attacking minded, I was disappointed when I saw the team sheet, but sometimes you have to give the opposition credit. You can play any formation you like but if the team your playing is man for man better than you, the result is sometimes inevitable. :(
