What makes things much worse this season is the table is much more compacted than usual.

By now there are normally 2-3 teams cast adrift at the bottom so really only 1 relegation place to avoid.

This season down to 23rd is very much in play, especially, God forbid, we lose at Doncaster. Even Port Vale are not cast adrift yet, 2 wins and they’re right back in the mix.

Others have done the detail, so I won’t repeat it.

The biggest home game of the season and zero shots on target.

    Not good enough, no excuses.

Time for a change of manager. Lowe out.

Burton Albion in the next round. I was hoping for Everton away. Anyway, great night on Friday; we never looked liked losing. More like the Tics of old.

Or Macclesfield away in round 4

Sounds familiar; look how that cup run turned out :yahoo:

I noticed that, the whole place seems to be run on crumbs, We all know the saying If you pay peanuts you get monkeys Some of the security staff could break wind nevermind a scuffle. I’m just waiting for the West Stand to be cordoned off in the corner so when a club brings lets 500 or less they can close the North End hence penny pinch. Then the away fans can freely drink beer and walk through the concourse. I bet Lowes thinking wtf have I done to deserve this ??. I said last year the whole place feels like a dull grey lifeless club with no soul or passion. I’ll still say the best time we had for the feel good factor was under Talal. We all know the outcome but for that short period of time we felt good and had hope. Right now, I’m so close to not bothering. I know quite a few who have given up the ghost and no longer bother. Weres the next gen gonna come from if we don’t ?, sad times. To me the catalyst was the Bolton game. Since then everything seems to have got gradually worse both on and off the field. One minute we’re thinking, play offs here, the next minute relegation here

I’m in that camp, sadly. As I posted at the time, I was refused entry with a perfectly valid season ticket (20 years) on the last day of 2023-24 season. Never received an explanation, apology or refund. I have not been back since.

You’re spot on about the lifelessness. The club feels like it’s existing (just), not flourishing. Things did pick up when Lowe came in, but something’s clearly happened off the pitch in recent weeks. We’ll likely never know what’s happened but I’d hazard a guess it’s down to £££ or rather the lack of.

What is for sure is Lowe is not Maloney. He will walk long before he’s pushed.

Anyway, Friday night moans out of the way. Tomorrow is the old cliche of a “must” win game to get the show back on the road. Maloney had a habit of getting the result when the vultures were starting to circle, which in reality prolonged the agony much longer than it should have and I think Lowe will have learned from that.

Probably won’t be pretty, but I’m going 2-0 tomorrow.

I got a thread of Facebook on Monday evening from someone saying they were celebrating.

He must be about the only one. More like a weary sigh of relief that this shocking season is almost over and pray that next season we will move forward, on and off the pitch.

Get to 50 points we’ll be reet. Burton would need 51 really given goal difference. They won’t get 12 points from 6 games.

    Crawley/Cambridge/Shrews won’t catch us anytime.

Trouble is, where are the points coming from? Shrews away is the only remaining fixture I would be more than 50% confident of a win.

Why are we virtually the only club in history that never gets a “new manager” bounce?

in reply to: New Season Ticket ? #200694

Get them to e mail it to you for this ONE game .. they’ve been inundated ,, make of that what you will ..01942 311111 !:whistle:

They should be emailing every season ticket holder tomorrow regardless. I won’t be happy at all if I have to spend 1 hour plus on the dog tomorrow listening to Lord knows what music to request an email ticket….sod’s law the ticket will then arrive Saturday morning

The ticket office, allegedly, would have been even busier the last couple of weeks had it not been for our good friends at Hullking Stan Rovers :yahoo:

Great to read the ever ending optimism has extended to the close season

Well said Skeggy. Listen folks, if you’re not happy supporting Wigan Athletic (ie a club who is not City, Liverpool et al), then kindly leave your moaning elsewhere & feck off! UTT through thick & thin. :yahoo::yahoo:

Inappropriate to link season ticket holders of 10-20-30-40+ years with the JCL types who have not been seen since the days of Coyle and Mackay.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, anyone who has renewed by card needs to be on their guard!

It looks like Ben Goodburn is on Linkedin.

Worth a shot if you have not tried that avenue.

Thanks for that LHL. Message duly sent.

Lose on Tuesday and we’re really in the dogfight with Wycombe and Uddersfield next.

Anyone who doesn’t think we’re in real trouble hasn’t been paying attention.

Reminds me of that old Three Lions 1996 anthem with Dame Trevor Brooking voicing (about England) “we’re not creative enough, we’re not positive enough”

As DW famously said, “Wigan Athletic is a very democratic club. I make the final decision” :good:

    A win’s a win as they; a vital 3 points.

Nice little gap opened up between us and the drop zone, which we may well need given the next 3 games are against 3 of the top 4.

    Good Friday 1979

First ever game and arguably the finest ever Latics comeback.

How about “The Long Good Friday” Vince?

    I’ll go for Mission Impossible
