Tickets for Newcastle fans have now gone on general sale. Allocation is 4800. Does anyone know why they don’t get the full 5400ish allocation?
At a guess presume they’re keeping the section nearest ES8 clear :woohoo:
Come on lads don’t be so negative!!9 :woohoo:
Otherwise I’m calling Yootha a taxi.
No seriously, 4 would be decent…win, draw, lose (probably in that order). Villa Park was our lucky ground in the Prem, only lost once in 8 visits (just happened to be the game I went to!).
For me we got lucky tonight, penalty not given etc.
We’ve played better and lost. Saying that though Huddersfield looked like us so far this season, lots of possession and nil points at the end. Hoping this is the stroke of luck we need to kick on now.
We’d do a damn sight better with a striker (or preferably 2  )
3 points is 3 points…I’m not convinced though overall.
Whatever Yootha says or does, there’s one thing he must change above all else…into a suit. A manager should look like one, not a retired player trying to relive his youth. BH, we gave Coyle enough stick for standing there in his shorts :woohoo:
With all the negative threads on this boaed recently everyone take a minute to reflect upon where we would be today if it wasnt for this great man. Take a bow Mr Whelan, you deserve this. Sorry I couldnt make it today.
Correct
Totally agree. About 5 years ago someone on here pointed out when someone was moaning about Sir DW that without him we would be playing FC United not Man Utd.
Times have changed obviously. Nowadays the comparison would be playing Aston Villa or Euxton Villa :S
Anyway, let’s hope Dave had enough puff left after all the speeches to blow his candles out!!
I must have been stood right behind you. I have also changed it to the full version.3 minutes 14 to 3 minutes 20 are a very interesting point in it.
I was too busy looking forward to notice you sorry!
Yes I saw this version on Youtube after I uploaded mine…so long as no one thinks I’m trying to pass of this version as my own
I think the Modern Royal Family have strengthened the Nations love and respect for the Monarchy and they have become more accessible and grounded. It seems that a lot of the pomp and ceremony has been replaced by more beneficial duties carried out by the Royals the World over. The Monarchy has modernised and evolved over the years, whilst retaining sufficient mystique to keep it unique and “British”.
No one is above criticism and the Queen is very aware of that.
Let’s face it, if Jesus Christ turned up tomorrow in Wigan for the unveiling, someone would have a go at him for encouraging wine drinking
Who’s going on Thursday? I should be able to so long as I don’t get a last minute call out!
Whilst it’s DW’s 80th, it would have been better done on a matchday; far more would have attended.
Does anyone know if they’re opening any of the car parks or will we have to take pot luck on the retail park?
A conservative estimate recently valued Buckingham Palace at £5 billion.
The Queen’s personal wealth has been debated many times (perhaps not on here mind  ).
Whilst Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse are state property (and as Horc rightly says, the state’s responsibility via the Crown Estate), Sandringham House and Balmoral Castle are the Queen’s private property.Whilst those 2 properties can be valued on paper, it is impossible to calculate what some Arab or Russian Oligarch would pay to for them.
I’ll turn into a Republican if someone can show me anyone who could have done the job as well as Her Majesty has done, for that length of time, for that value for money. For me Britain without a monarchy is unthinkable.
“There’s only one F in Filan” was another good one from a few years back
Well it’s a bit of observational humour and nothing at all hurtful or wrong with it.
Lighten up lads players and managers have always had a variety of daft nicknames.
Yootha himself referred to Powell as Powelly. How daft is that when everyone else calls him Cosy,Baden, Enoch and a lot worse.Conor Salmons nickname of ‘Tinna’ is one of my all time West Stand favourites.
At least they seem to have stopped calling Perkins “Dorothy”
Powell didn’t pick himself. Will didn’t drop himself either.
What a complete balls has been made of this season after getting back to this level.
The momentum alone of a successful squad would have pushed us further up the league than this.
That’s without getting rid of any or bringing in any new players at all.
It’s been a cock up since before a ball was even kicked at Chester.
Yesterday going to Barnsley with no strikers and being content with a point from kick off won’t do and just adds to the balls up of a season.
Why on earth should we have been so worried about an average side (minus their best and key midfielder) like Barnsley is mind boggling.
Fans calling for two strikers and we play without any.
Nil nil again at Huddersfield is a good bet.
Fans will be hurling more abuse aimed at Sharpey next.0-0 at Huddersfield would be a good result IMHO.
I would take a draw away from home quite happily at the moment…BUT…Simply have to be more attacking at home…2 up front for at least 1/3rd of the game (preferably when the game isnt already lost).
Premier League clubs have agreed to more talks regards this. What a load of b*llocks this is though:
More from Sue Roberts from the Hillsborough Foundation after Premier League clubs discussed safe standing for the first time today.
All-seater stadiums have been compulsory in the top two divisions in England since an inquiry into the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, which claimed the lives of 96 Liverpool fans.
“If people were going into a seated area [Hillsbrough] could never have happened,” Roberts said.
“Why break what isn’t broke? There’s been no accidents since [Hillsbrough].”
“We’re only thinking of the safety of others. It’s too late for us – we’ve already lost our loved ones through standing on terraces.
“We have a tendency to forget things in history. I think it’s one step in the wrong direction that will eventually lead to another step and then another step. I would hate to be still around to say I told you so.
“But if we let standards lapse, at some point in the future somebody will be saying why didn’t we listen?”
Too many people in a crowded seating area causes far more issues as there are less places to move too.
Last game of the 2008 season when ManUre won the title at ours. Hundreds of them piled in to the West Stand after close of play when the gates were open. Stewards had all bu***d off leaving us to sort ourselves out.
Some spotty ManUre youth thought it was clever to stand right in front of me when I was standing up for the presentation. He soon scarpered when I pointed out the Ambulance in the corner was waiting for him if he didnt shift prompto.
Is it just me, by the way, who thinks that giving him a nickname that is based on a rather poor 1970s comedienne isn’t exactly giving us the aura of being a set of progressive and forward-looking fans?Yes, let’s hope the team selection and tactics don’t resemble something George Roper worked out on the back of a beer mat
Seriously though, good to have got the appointment sorted; seems a long time since GC was shown the door.
Onwards and upwards. Sadly can’t be in the audience on Saturday due to a long standing commitment before the fixtures came out…but will be there in spirit B)
I remember Barrow getting kicked out of the football league in 1972.Won 4-0 yesterday, 5th in the Conference (or whatever it’s called this season
) and Holker Street is a happy place at the moment.Yes just seen the highlights on Sky Centre App.
A win is a win. Our position could be much healthier after we beat Reading. ;)
