Just read their match report from Saturday to see how very lucky they were. Plus I still think it is mentally harder for any team that starts to slip towards the trap door late in the season. Went to Chelsea when we got stuffed 8-0; last game of the season.
However that did not give a true reflection of the game. Chelsea had to win to secure the title; and the Latics had them on the ropes in the first half, until Frank fell over in the box with the nearest Latics player being a yard away. Before that incident we had a clear penalty shout waved away. Frank dispatches the penalty and you could see the Latics heads go down. The ref wasn’t going to spoil Chelsea’s parade. It pisses me off no end !!!!!!!!!Cost me fifty quid for a seat to see an orchestrated game.

This is more like it. A fantastic win. Minimal tinkering, two strikers and players in position gives us two on the bounce. Third away win on the trot. Keep this up Latics. Fortune put in a good shift.
We were more effective when young Bart was replaced with Leon Clarke, who used his size and experience to good advantage.
