Thanks for your reply, it was with you saying you ran one I thought it could be an opportunity to have a group off here, it seems judging on the response though not many are bothered

Like I said before if anyone wants to I can run one in conjunction with the one we have on vital, but do it for this board, it’s only a few extra names on my spreadsheets,or you are more than welcome to join the vital one.

I run one, have done for years, but it’s just for people I like

Isn’t yours a fantasy football league where you bought a squad for a set price then trade them and score points on how they perform in games?

Can you post details about it , is it open to everyone? Is there still time to join?

I see that Jack Rodwell has now departed Man City and gone to Sunderland. I seem to remember big things being said about him and his future when he was at Everton so what went wrong? Who else would you add to this thread in recent times?

Jimmy Bullard, Jason Roberts,Pascal Chimbonda and Wilson Palacios.

All thought that their careers would be improved by leaving us!!

    All achieved nout !!!
Bullard did well at Fulham, even got into the England squad, his demise only started through injuries, Jason Roberts did as much at Blackburn as he did with us including doubling his salary, he was doing ok at Reading as well until he again suffered a long term injury, Chimbonda and Palacious have had as much success if not more than the did with us and earned a substantial amount more than they did with us.

So they were all probably right in “thinking that their careers would be improved by leaving us” there is nothing saying that their careers wouldn’t have gone downhill or they would not have suffered serious injury had the not stayed with us.

Without being rude, why would we have the time to set up and run a league more than anyone else?

You are very welcome to set one up yourself and advertise it here. That would be fine.

I am running one on vital, if anyone on here would like to join in they can do it via this site if they don’t want to go on vital, I don’t mind posting the fixtures and league tables on here as well.

The format is pay a £5 registration fee direct to –

    https://www.justgiving.com/Run4Tilly

It then costs £10 to enter this can be paid by Paypal or cash, this money will all be paid out as prize money, at the moment we have 20 who have joined so there will be a manager of the month winner for highest scorer in the calendar month(£10 x 10) and cash prizes for the overall winner, 2nd and third (£50,30,20) at the end of the season.

The league is also being sponsored by Wigan awaytravel, who have provided an impressive trophy for the champion to have there name engraved on it and keep it for the following season.

If anyone else joins the prize money will be adjusted accordingly.

    Let me know.

    edit

Sorry the game format will be:- championship games only, points scored on weekend or full midweek programs only, 2 points correct prediction – 3 points extra for a correct score – eg. if you predict 1-1 draw and the game finishes 0-0 you get 2 points if you predict the 0-0 you get 5 points and so on.

7 million for Bosselli and 3 million for Scotland, compared to these two 28 million for Lukaku looks a steal.

Everton and Martinez are going to be spending c.50 million pounds this close season and basically getting last seasons side back, the best they can hope for despite that massive investment is fighting it out for 5th, 6th or 7th place in the league, madness.

They raked in about £40m on the sale of Fellaini, Jelavic & Anichebe so the net outlay will be much less than that.

Madness yes, but nowhere near as mad as some others.
Out of that 40 million they paid out 20 million for McCarthy and Kone, if reports are true they also paid a loan fee of some 6 million for Lakaku and 2 to 3 million for Barry on top of their wages, plus other signings it doesn’t leave much out of 40 mill received.

Hindsight is a privilidge that Managers dont have unfortunately.

If you told me that you didnt think Boselli and Scotland looked like good signings for Wigan Athletic at the time of purchase, I would have to call you a liar.

It was reported as £6 million for Boselli and £2 million for Scotland. Why not add an extra million to each for effect though eh?
Nobody knew anything about Boselli other than his supposed pedigree, but it emerged that John Benson had told Martinez that in his view, after watching him on a number of occasions, that he did not have the attributes to make it in the premier league, that is not hindsight on Martinez’s part it was rank bad management.

As for Scotland he was a journeyman who had had a couple of decent seasons in division two or Scotland and been poor/ordinary everywhere else he had played, nobody thought he “looked like a good signing” and as it proved he wasn’t even as good as that.

But “why not” let your hero worship of Martinez shine through “for the effect though eh?”.

Keep stum Barnsley, from his response he seems not know what he has or hasn’t posted in the past ;)

For once, you’re right. Unlike you, once I have posted on here I very rarely give it a second thought.

Anyway this brief trip back after a few days away and realising it is the same old shit being posted, I really can’t be arsed any more. Better things to do, better people to deal with.

So, with the greatest of respect and thanks to JayT, JPH, Egg-mon and George for all their unrewarded and thankless hard work over the years, I hope the rest of you all continue to enjoy acting like adolescent Menks.

The sensible ones amongst you excluded, of course. You know who you are. Good luck trying to make sense out of this lot.
So you don’t enjoy acting like an adolescent menk any more, shame really as you are probably the best on this board at doing it.

Instead of just not bothering to post again, you feel the need to make a song and dance about leaving. Anyway enjoy your sabbatical.

But I am provoked to respond when the comments get more extreme and the insults get more abusive.

That’s quite ironic coming from the person that has perfected the art.

Sits back and waits for the barrage of insults winging it’s way towards me for pointing out how things are on ‘Griffney Latic’
It’s more ironic than you think!
Just looking back it hit me smack in the face the error I made, reading the rubbish in this thread merges into one whole mess of drivel, with all these ‘quote boxes’, it becomes hard to distinguish who posted what.

Keep stum Barnsley, from his response he seems not know what he has or hasn’t posted in the past ;)

Does anyone know the identity of the person/persons behind this proposal, I agree that in wigan rugby league terms he is a legend, but that is in a small pond, he is not the biggest name in world rugby league, it his highly debateable if he was even the best, as some of the rugby fans are stating.

He was a servant to wigan rugby for many years, but rugby fans should not fool themselves into thinking if rugby union had been professional when he played the self appointed biggest team in rugby would have not stood a cat in hells chance of signing him.

Call me cynical if you like but I find it strange and highly amusing this announcement has been made during the biggest and best team sports competition in the world, which has taken place smack in the middle of the rugby league season and actually removed this minority regional sport off the radar, good god even the last bastion of support for rugby league, the WEP have at times relegated rugby to the inside pages in favour of the global number one team game. When was the last time a player of any note or one that is world renowned in either code actually been signed by a British rugby league team?

I honestly believe this whole statue escapade has been perpetrated by wigan rugby league fans desperately clinging on by their collective finger nails as the sport they follow slowly dies, as a national entity let alone world one, in the face of competition from Football and the much more popular Rugby Union.

I have nothing only respect for Billy Boston and what he achieved during his career and the fact that he is a thoroughly nice and likeable person, but a monument in the town centre, do me a favour.

“Oriol and Jordi were team mates at Barcelona and I think it shows you the regard that Jordi has for our club that he would help us in that way by talking to him and telling him about the benefits of signing for us.”

Thank you, Jordi. Have you mentioned us to Lionel too?

According to many Gomez only left because of the boo boys, surely he wouldn’t ask a friend to chance the same fate.

Or could the truth actually be that Jordi left because at his age he would be a fool not to accept the money on offer in the premier league from a bigger club than us.

Suarez hopes to play against Germany later on in the tournament because he would like to try a shoulder of Lahm

he can only get away with it if FIFA sweep it under the carpet, 100 million people around the world saw it on TV.
