After speaking with a guy I work with who I didn’t even know was a rugby fan, I will be going with him to support the Warrington Wolves this Saturday…and it’s against out very own chubbies – quite fitting I think!

You can actually drink in the stands watching the game….quite appealing :D

I will let you know my findings..

Warrington on Saturday and The mighty latics on the Sunday….a good sporting weekend..

Come on you Warrington people thingy’s and the mighty Latics!

Well, at least your son will be happy tonight. :D :D :D :D

Up until mid January the pitch was showing little signs of damage, during the snow Latics had a training session or two on it which resulted in a few more areas of serious damage.

On Tuesday, before a ball had been kicked, the entire pitch was destroyed, possibly the worst condition it has ever been in, totally unplayable.

And lets not forget, two of the football matches played since mid-January could have been avoided had:

a. The Bolton game been rearranged for a date later in the season when the grass was growing and the pitch was more playable.

b. You had done what a PL side should do to a League 2 Club.

Notts County could take a 10pt deduction this season and still make the playoffs with a half-decent run. If they are struggling, it would make sense to do it this season rather than trying to hang on and suffer even more as a League 1 club next year.

Having just watched the first half on ATDHE, I guess:

North Stand: 4000 in a capacity of 5418.
South Stand: 2000 in a capacity of 5412.
Boston Stand: 7000 in a capacity of 8238.
Springy Stand: Unable to see, but based on the sides being equally popular, I’ll guess 5089 in a capacity of 6100.

Total there tonight is approx 18089…..

Good guess there Mutty, you are spot on, how did you manage that?

The figures in the stands were a bit out, but not bad.

The actual figures were:

North Stand: 3193 in a capacity of 5418.
South Stand: 2696 in a capacity of 5412.
West Stand: 7089 in a capacity of 8238.
Springy Stand: 5111 in a capacity of 6100.
I thought the West stand was the Springy stand?

Strange how 2696 can look like virtually nobody is in that end, but 3193 can look like its almost full. I guess there must be something extra in those pies over t’hill in Bowton!

in reply to: Get Behind Martinez #22646

Before the anti-Martinez brigade come on, I have a question that I would be interested to know…..

If Martinez was given the shove, who do you think DW would appoint to come in and take your club further? It aint going to be someone like Mark Hughes, so please be realistic in your answer.

in reply to: WHELAN – has he got the bottle #22594

Maybe that was because the first half tries were scored in front of the 500 or so visitors.

in reply to: Sunderland fan on crowds #21968
We know who they are, but a quick question seeing as he has an avatar of our ‘closed stand’ in the backgound of our FA Cup game with Hull; where are all the mackams???? there seems to be more and more being kidnapped over the last couple of seasons….

Take our fixture, for example (as I can’t be bothered looking at/wasting any time at looking for any others, sound familiar?):

2007/2008
SoL 43,600
JJB 18,639

2008/2009
SoL 39,226
JJB 18,115

2009/2010
SoL 38,350
DW 20,477

That’s over 5,000 gone, disappeared in less than two years, have the police been notified. I have added our crowds as well over the same years so you don’t need to waste your time looking.

Discuss.

As someone has said, a large chunk of the missing 5000 are from Wigan.

Congratulations on winning the tw@t of the day award though.

A very good article, but you fail to declare what points will be the level at which you attend.

Thank you.

You’ll have to wait for the book to learn that but suffice to say, there is no set tipping point ;)
In that case, its a totally pointless (although well-written) article. 49 A R S E D points could result in non-attendance, whereas 3 points could result in you trecking to Pompey on a cold February night to see two hopelessly out of form sides hoof the ball into orbit to “the big fecker up front”.

(Did I mention that I am off to Portsmouth on Tuesday night)

Its just a bit better than the chubbies though…13, 868 ;)

Of course, that is more than the crowds for Hull & Notts County added together.

Dont start on free/cheap tickets, as a quick look at http://www.premierleague.com/page/Headl … 13,00.html

suggests that the game against Bolton is £1 per child, and up to 2,000 free tickets are distributed every home game, yet still you cannot attract more than 14000 paying home fans to watch the worlds most popular team sport.

Those who regularly go to the games, particularly those extremely poorly attended cup games, are to be applauded. The other 5000 JCLs and glory hunters are not worth the time of day.

The last time we had the pitch re laid if im right i hear it cost £500.000 did they who wreck it pay out towards it. if it happens again will they pay.NO not a penny.CHUBBIES OUT.TAKE LINDSEY WITH THEE  ;)

Why should a tenant pay towards the repair of a part of something that they are already paying rent on? Its the landlords responsibility to keep the fixtures & fittings up to scratch, including fair wear & tear, which playing on it is. You only have to look at the state of the pitch every February to see what causes the most damage. Compare that to the state of it every September, when it suddenly appears to be pristine again!

Football + Winter + Building a pitch on a historical flood plain = Sh !t pitch in Springtime!!!

As an aside, if Whelan was so worried about the condition of the pitch, why was the rearranged game against Bolton changed to a month when there was already 5 sporting fixtures being played on it? They could have fitted it in midweek between 24 April and 9 May when the grass will be growing and no other games, apart from Hull City on 1 May, are taking place.

Well Bobby boy, sticking with Scotland and bringing Koumas in has worked wonders.
We are a joke.

The crowd was 200 UP on the last Cup game at the JJB. Who says the romance of the FA Cup is dead…

Well, at least on Tuesday they will only have to shell out £15, so that excuse wont wash…

…Full house anyone?

Thought not.
