Clearly in the eyes of JR and Egg, he is still a top class striker, so buy him back then. If he’s that good, why has no club in the entire league come in for him this window?
For those of us who have had to witness his ambling around the pitch over the past 12 months, he is an embarrassment. He is the 3rd division equivalent of Jack Rodwell at the moment – overpaid and unwanted.
Will Grigg’s on fire – my arse.
He’s utter garbage. His last 12 months have been embarrassing, and from what I recall, other than that goal against Man City, he’s done nothing of note for over 2 years.
The rumours around the SOL are that he’s played his last game there. He is lazy and doesn’t fancy hard work and an increased fitness programme that has also seen McGeady told to do one.
I guess you’ll not be getting your full £4m fee now he’s flopped and wont be playing for Sunderland in the top tier.
He was on a season long loan, his contract ends with Blackburn 31/05/2020 so he could comfortably sit it out with us then move were ever in the summer.Seems strange to be trying to force a move if he is out of contract at end of seasonArticle says he’s got 18 months left on his contract, so it will expire in summer 2021.
Think you may find that 8000 severely reduced next season if Cooks still here.8000 ST at an average of £200 brings in £1.6m.
6000 ST at an average of £200 brings in £1.2m.I’m guessing that the owners have relegation clauses in place (usually around 40%), and that wages go down if the side goes down. It may well be that the owners are looking at the income needed to be a 4th bottom Championship side versus the income needed to be a top-6 league one side, and have come to the conclusion that the amount they have to subsidise the club to be 4th bottom isn’t worth their while, and they’d get better value for their HK$ by owning a top L1 side.
Its also a possibility that sacking Cook after relegation means his payout is 40% less.

Thanks and congrats on getting off the mark in the guess the gate competition! I was very tempted to go slightly higher than you, as I knew that Leicester had pretty much sold out – I just wasn’t sure on how many seats in the corner had been left vacant for the Latics fans who were given the option of pay on the day. As there was a huge gap between you and the next guess, I took the cautious option for a guaranteed runner-up spot and a possible win.
I didn’t go mutty….did you?No – I found a very good South African stream. I work with several Leicester fans and they were telling me at the start of the season that they would definitely be top 4 this season. It was only after they took Southampton apart I realised just how good Rogers has got them playing.
I imagine Leicester’s pace and movement is quite frightening to watch as an opposition fan. And to think Harry Maguire left for “better things” at Old Trafford!
I think the 700 or so travellers today should get a t-shirt saying ‘I was there when we won away’
Happy Bloody New YearPerhaps Horc should award a Bonus point on the guess the gate for guessing how many Latics miles you have done personally between away victories Jay.
I guess you are all commenting from the stadium and limited views from what VAR show you. However, on TV replays, that was a stonewall penalty – Lord knows how it wasn’t overturned. Lowe’s goal was offside by a few mm.
VAR is here because supporters, managers, players and pundits have clamoured for it, preferring to blame referees for errors rather than bad defending or poor finishing.
Be careful what you wish for…

So would you advocate paying him off in full, even if it costs £2m plus and restricts the new manager’s ability in the transfer window, or would you put him on gardening leave and pay him his current salary until he finds another job?
Personally, I would pay him weekly until his contract is up or he finds another job. As I said before, its probably the cheaper option, and Cook would be foolish to stay unemployed for that long as he’d beome a forgotten man. It didn’t work out very well for Alan Curbishley.
Waste of time now as a fans outlet, it really is. I’m not the only one who thinks it as well.Is this the start of yet another “I’m off here for ever” by the OP?

At least 5 points are needed. Wigan seem to have a habit of winning the unwinnable game, so it wouldn’t surprise me if its a loss at Blackburn, draw with Derby and then win at Forest and/or Birmingham.
Stoke & Luton have tricky fixtures too. But if you don’t get at least 5 points, I can see you and Barnsley being cut adrift by mid-Jan.
