Vaughan to power you up the league… :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Egg – I said “At Best” – he looked half decent around December. He has had another 6 months worth of injuries and alcohol since then. Don’t pin your hopes on him to keep you above the bottom 3.
Well some of you lot love Muttys input. Let’s hear off him what he thinks of him Egg Mon.
May on paper be what you say Eggy but the baggage he brings to our family club is questionable.Gibson is a crock. His “just shy of 100 games” is spread over more than 10 years. Not only is he a crock, but he has a drink problem.
In terms of footballing ability, when he was fit and sober, he looked ok for Sunderland last season. At best, he is a mid-table Championship level – if he can stay off the pop.
Hopefully his contract is structured with an emphasis on appearances and self-discipline.
Perhaps you could use Bullitt’s mate’s ST – the guy who lives in Australia and never goes, but loves the club so much, he buys a ST every year.
It says so under his avatar.
Thanks egg.
Hope it’s like the Sunderland one Mutty described and by the way Horc you have been known to be one of the biggest moaners ever when your not on here.Have a listen if you want to compare:
2 HR podcast. Bloody hell we are lucky to get any news/updates/information of much interest in 2 months.A refreshing change Donny to have an owner that is up front – possibly too up front for some. I download it and listen in 30min chunks on my commute to/from work.
No need for sour grapes MuttyNo sour grapes here Horc – just someone supportive of the new owner’s approach. In case you weren’t aware, just before pre-season, all bar one of the senior squad indicated that they would like to leave the club. The response from the owners was that they could leave as long as two conditions were met:
1. Any buying club met Sunderland’s valuation of the player.
2. There would be no pay-off and no part-subsidising of wages.Players have subsequently left. Steele & Rodwell have gone, Asoro & Khazri have been sold, Kone is on his way, Oviedo will be leaving soon, and McManaman has now gone. I fully expect more to leave over the next two weeks, but each and every one will leave on our terms. N’dong & Dilibodji have failed to return to training and the club are now not paying them, whilst still holding onto their registrations. To quote a senior source at the SOL – “The piss take party has ended”.
Every fortnight, there is a 2hr podcast with the owner, and he is refreshingly honest. He talks about finances, player movements and even the refitting of the seats! This week’s podcast discussed Macmanaman, and there was no indication he was going. That suggests that your bid has matched or exceeded the valuation Sunderland put on him, and as the first priority this season is to shift high earners who have no desire to graft in the 3rd division, then his leaving for a fee and no pay-off represents a great deal.
I wish him luck back at Wigan. Since he bailed out on you 3 years ago, he’s not exactly set the world on fire, so hopefully returning to a club where he was successful will help him and you.
There’s a big difference to someone who was a premier league player 12 months ago looking good in half a pre-season game against non-league or 4th tier opposition, and the performances that he put in last season, which were woeful.
He’s asked for a transfer and Wigan have paid the fee Sunderland expected, so we have offloaded (IMHO) a high earning, low performing player and got a fee for him.
Now, do you fancy Lee Cattermole back….
Seconded.
One lad i know (Doogie) some will have heard/know of him, emigrated to Australia a few years back still buys a season ticket to show his support for the club!
Let me get this right. You know someone who spends the best part of £300 a year on a season ticket that they will never use?
Yep thats correct, well done! :silly:
Either you’re full of shite or your mate is whopper.
If it’s the latter, then I can suggest more worthy causes for his £300
You should have stopped typing after your first 5 words and deleted the first one.
No it doesn’t Egg, but GL has stated that because he lives in Sunderland, he is a Sunderland fan.
Donny – not being very good is a pre-requisite for being a Sunderland player – in fact, we have a long and proud history of dominating the transfer market in this category!
I applaud the conviction of any racist – including those who may live in Sunderland. Racism, just like homophobia, is vile and should be rooted out at every opportunity – whether its an inhabitant of Sunderland racially abusing an on-loan Newcastle player at Wigan Athletic or a subscriber to the WEP comments section banging on about illegal immigrants helping Lisa Nandy retain her seat in the 2015 General Election.
The racist has no support on here either:
Post #54 has an interesting theory though – I’ll keep you informed if his claim is correct.
Sorry, mutty, but the #54 claim is disingenuous on a Donald Trump level.
The guy lives in Sunderland, and Sunderland aren’t exactly known for their love of Magpies.
I applaud the Sunderland fans who have set themselves apart from him and his hatred.
I applaud your espousal of them.
Please don’t then try to muddy the waters with a spurious claim, if he had evidence then produce it.
No. This guy was a misguided, bitter Sunderland fan. We all have them (bitter and misguided I mean).
Accept it and move on.
Justice has been done.
I dare say you are right GL. However, what doesn’t sit right with me and many others on the SMB is why a Sunderland fan would have even heard of Ivan Toney, who played just two games for Newcastle in 2015 before being shipped out on loan to four lower league clubs on six occasions, and why they would wait two years after his last appearance for Newcastle to then tweet a racist message to him. The Daily Mirror article from last December quotes Wigan Athletic saying “This account has been blocked for some time by the club”, which implies White had been on their radar as a troublemaker even before Ivan Toney had signed on loan. I’ve yet to see anything that identifies him as a Sunderland fan, other than he lives in the city. As you well know, living in a town doesn’t automatically make you a supporter of that club.
However, as you say, justice has been done and there will be one less racist at a football ground from this day forward. We can all drink to that bit of good news!
