The transfer window is an international one, and has to take into consideration all leagues across all nations, which is why dates are set in stone.

Imagine how GC would feel if his wish was implemented here, only for some German/Italian/Spanish side to then come along and buy Will Grigg the week before their season started.

On the plus side, it could be worse – he could be a top flight manager and be faced with not even being allowed to bring in multiple loan deals after tonight.

Or maybe he has something better to do today – like the rest of the Wigan public.

So far today Ive seen a bloke in a Man City shirt in Tescos (fair enough, they play tomorrow), a Liverpool shirt wearing fella on Park Road (away, and limited tickets available), and a lad wearing a Wigan football shirt on Frog Lane at 4.15pm. I take it the game today kicked off early.

Could anyone shed any light on when the Billy Boston Statue is going to be erected in one of the town centre back streets?

Its been close on 3 years since the fundraising began and still no signs of the statue, an absolute disgrace from Lenagen and the club!

Wigan rugby could have paid for the statue instead of buying back a crocked over rated full back.
One massive insult to a rugby league legend!

3 September. They have even made it on an international weekend, and now Wigan football aren’t playing in the 3rd division, there’s no reason why you cant attend the unveiling, seeing as its consumed your every waking moment for the past 3 years.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Wigan rugby got a game this week?

No – for the same reason as Wigan football didn’t have a midweek game this week.

    in reply to: Gomez #150260

To consistently be the worst player in the 17th best side in the Greed League means that you simply are not cut out to be a top-flight player.

Which is why he now isn’t, nor will he ever be again. Frankly, I suspect that even bottom half 2nd division is a bit too much for him these days.

    in reply to: Gomez #150257

Perhaps GC believes a half-fit Gomez is a better option on the bench than a fully-fit Chow.

    in reply to: Sunderland #150189

I wonder where Stu spent the entire 2015/16 season, as he seemed to be one of the posters who found something else to do whilst his beloved team were playing in the 3rd tier. Before todays attacks on Sunderland and the club we dare not speak the name of, he’s been away for 1 year and 5 months.

That said, he’s back now – or was he always here, but just with a different ID?

    in reply to: Sunderland #150177
Sunderland will be fine this season. Burnley Norwich and Hull/Bournemouth for me.

We sent them down last season!

    in reply to: Sunderland #150160
Mutty your team’s got 100% record played 2 lost 2 championship form see you next season

Somebody said that to me last season only for us to send Newcastle down to see you instead. The season before they said that they’d wave to me as they replaced us in the Premier League, only to end up in the 3rd division, whilst Sunderland stayed in the Premier League! At least your cockiness has gone, and now you are openly admitting the best you can hope for this year is to survive.

Its not been an ideal pre-season for Sunderland, losing the manager to the top job in English football, and that has severely hampered the recruitment of players, as a month was spent by the FA generally dick-dancing us around. Like every season, we are playing catch-up, but seeing as both Palace & Bournemouth (neither of whom have had a pre-season as disruptive as Sunderland) are below us at present, then I’m not going to get stressed about it.

Folk wont use facebook to say what they say on here because they would very quickly be identified and find a letter landing on their doormat with an invitation to explain their libellous comments in court.

Imagine what would have happened if the CL user who referred to an ex-WW player as a paedophile had done so on FB, rather than on here where a quick word to a moderator saw it swiftly removed.

in reply to: Latics v Rovers #150098

No they don’t. Cherryandwhite.co.uk is part of an overall RL forum, where all football discussion is parked on one thread because……..

…..most of the contributers there cant stand the game and don’t want to see it on their site, so they park it in one area, along with golf, Union and any other sport. From what I see, it is rarely used, and any football-related poster would go un-noticed. Try it. Visit the site and post something on the football thread about your trip to Forest today. I doubt you’d get many responses though, win lose or draw.

Now, if your site owners wanted to allow only WAFC and football-related topics, and remove anything rugby-related then I would support that. In fact I would welcome it with open arms.

Of course, doing that would then deny you and your fellow rugby-hating trolls a platform to air their 1980s views, and we both know that you couldn’t survive without such a platform.

I’d like to tell you that maths really isn’t your strongpoint is it, or are you (again) resorting to made up figures to support your point of view, but Thickymon doesn’t like anyone pointing out innacuracies or contradicting the anti-Wigan Warriors comments on here, so I wont do that.

I’d also like to tell you that its probably best you get going if you want to make the 3pm kick off at Nottingham, or will your attendance there be another made up claim, but again Thickymon doesn’t like me doing that because it would put you in a bad light, so again I wont do that.

I will however quote thickymon, because apparently that is allowed:

    “Knob”

in reply to: Latics v Rovers #150094

Can I just confirm that what you want:

“You want a forum where only one view is allowed, and any alternative view is immediately removed”.

If that’s the case, then I really do pity you, just as I pity the citizens of North Korea.

in reply to: Latics v Rovers #150088

Well Well, it seems that whilst I was busy watching St Helens being nilled, you’ve been having a right old discussion! I’ll try and address a couple of points:

    1. I defended GL on the WEP after someone who frequents this site tried to hang him out to dry. I don’t know GL personally, but whilst he may disagree with some of what I say, he does it with a degree of respect – something the likes of Bullitt, Bickymon, Donnys Page, FatFan and to a lesser extent The Egg could learn from. I therefore treat his posts and point of view with a similar level of respect. Bullitt – I’d be very careful what you say on this subject in future, as you are very close to crossing the libellous line. I doubt you, the mods and the owners of this site would want that to happen.

    2. I’m not a mod or a multi-ID. Google my user name if you wish – going to Rome and reviewing the Colosseum on TripAdvisor, then posting pictures of their time in Kandahar with the military would be a pretty good “cover story” for one of your Mods to play.

    3. I have never http://www.cockneylatic.co.uk/forum/6-non-football-stuff/115668-meaningless-friendlies#144224

However, others who have sworn would then also have to be banned.

    5. If you really want to shut me up, then as GL says, use reasoned argument. Calling me “knob” may make you and your sniggering teenage friends feel “cool”, but to any sane and mature adult, it just demonstrates that you have lost the debate. It may also help if you stop continually bringing Wigan Warriors into any thread you can. Your obsession is unhealthy. It was suggested to you (Bullitt) on WEP many times by many people that you need help for this obsession before it does you real harm.

    Over to you gents…

Friday at New Springfield in yet another home game against Saints is also a day when all the local Manure, Hubcappers, Citeh and Everton shirt wearing bandwagon jumpers squeeze into their Norweb shirts and become Egg fans.
If those lot could show their loyalty to their local football side we could fill the place.
Tuesday was three quid cheaper on the night at £24 Mutty Shite and coming days after casual fans had to fork out £27 and so is hardly a scientific way to measure a pricing policy but as an egg Mon you wouldn’t understand as most of your casual fans are on free tickets including the extra Norweb wearing chubbies tonight. Well who would pay for that shite anyway ffs!!!

    Couple of points.

1 – According to everyone on here most Wigan rugby fans come from Bolton Preston or Leyland so their local football team wouldn’t be Latics.

2 – Latics isn’t even your local team Donny so you’re kinda shittin on that point.

3 – Utd are actually on Sky tonight so the Utd armchairs amongst the rugby brethren will just stay in the pub and watch both games on TV.

4 – Can we stop the childish attendance crap and turning every topic to rugby please? This is a WAFC forum so lets talk about them. Mutty, if you want to stir shit then stick to the WEP page.[/quote]

3 good points egg, but the last para on the 4th is horseshit. There was a sensible discussion going on about how best to price match tickets – then Bullshit & Chorley Boy decide to bring it down to a childish level. I never bring rugby into a discussion on here. – it’s the Neanderthals who still harbour 30 year grudges that do that. See above for examples!
