Killed in action springs to mind, don’t know why! :x

    We were all THINKING it!

The smilies don’t lend themselves well to the remote access wallahs like myself (tonight, at least) but I’m still struggling to see how I could carry off using the blonde smilie.

Or the brunette one, for that matter, if there was one

Ditch the overated iphone and buy a phone that supports flash……

POSTED FROM MY HTC DESIRE HD…… :angry-soapbox:
No need for flash with the smilies anyway!?!

Just get an iPad Griff. Just think about your iPhone made 6, or 7 times bigger.

Good talking point too. Whenever I get mine out, on a train or in Costa, someone always want to play with it.

    ;)

    No euphemisms, just extreme innuendo!

Back on topic for a moment, I found myself at the game today in with the home fans.

Wooden seats and my knees rammed up against the wall that was in front of me. Wouldn’t mind but I’m only 5’7″!

In that main stand the aisles are only wide enough for one person and then behind it ‘the concourse’ is no wider than a corridor. It’s a death trap if there was ever an emergency.

Although as someone else put it the atmosphere was very poor. Fair few Wigan fans around us too.

Does no-one know the KIA answer? Really bugging me now. Dave must know; he supports Liverpool teams

Don’t they make cars, or orange squash, or something?

Not sure I’d agree that Ipswich is a ‘cracking club’ under its current ownership.

Google Marcus Evans and look at his involvement in the 2007 Rugby World Cup and then the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

How dodgy must you be if FIFA are planning to investigate you!!!!

Come on chaps. The original post asks for players from the last five years.

I clearly ignored this too, so now I’ll agree with Griff on David Unsworth for the same reason, although Heskey’s performance that day was monumental, so he gets a honourable mention as well.

Valencia and Palacios could qualify for the umpteen millions they brought into the club/Whelan’s back pocket* in transfer fees :D

    * delete according light/dark tendancies.

    Dave Whelan
    Paul Jewell

    No explanations needed.

None of his team mates seemed to care either. Just look at the contempt on the goal scoters face!

    It’ll never fly.

Agree with all of that and would add that Alcarez had a good game and Diame was excellent, especially first half.

On the downside when is Martinez ever going to learn how to use substitutes?

Wolves threw on a couple whilst we looked knackered in parts for the last 10 minutes and still no subs. I know the bench was weaker today, but I had a fiver on Rodders first goal and us to win 2-0 @ 60-1!

LMB – Your choice of Boris to support your argument is entirely justified.

I also met him once, albeit very briefly.

Just outside the Palace of Westminster is a pelican crossing. As I approached I noticed Boris stood there staring at the button and the lights. He had no idea how it worked. I said excuse me and pressed the button. He was amazed when the lights then changed and the traffic stopped for us to cross.

    Imbecile is too kind.

david whelan has always been and always will be a ‘retailer’, and irrespective of source it gives this story credance

    Credance?

So, he was never a professional footballer who played in the top flight of English football? And he didn’t get to play in final of what was once the greatest domestic cup competition in the world?

I suppose that’s why all the miserable, whinging, know-it-alls on here are so keen to give him their expert opinion.

Welcome back LMB. We’ve all missed you.
thanks for the welcome – i notice you have not been taking your intelligence pills in my absence.
Now, now, LMB, please try and keep to reasoned debate and remember that resorting to silly personal insults is probably what earned you your recent little holiday.

You quoted that Dave Whelan has only ever been a retailer. This is factually incorrect as I pointed out in my reply. You also forecast that he will only ever be a retailer. Again, although I didn’t bother to point this one out, he is also a football club owner as well as owning a chain of health clubs. I dare say he has many other business interests of which we are all unaware. You also cannot possibly know what he may decide to do in the future. Another mistake on your part.

All which you chose to use as something that gave ‘credence’ to your argument.

If I find those intelligence pills I’ll PM you so you can pick them up.

in reply to: South Stand Bar #53413
Sorry, but the club can go and jump.

They are only changing the south stand bar because the corporate ‘cash cow’ has dropped off. They are not making the money from corporate, so they are prepared to let the ‘peasants’ back in. I’m sorry, but they can go swizz.

For the last 5 seasons, they’ve not wanted to know the fans, unless they were paying the corporate fees. Now home support has dwindled, they are marketing it as a ‘positive move’.

More fool anybody who falls for it and goes along with it. Remember where you’ve been for the past 5 years. In a sports-hall drinking warm cans of crap lager. All because you were NOT wanted, because they wanted to milk the corporate cash cow.

Do you really think President’s Club is ‘corporate’?

I’m a member, just as I was when it was Blue Chip.

There may well be some corporates, but if I was invited to it as ‘hospitality’ I’d be insulted.

It’s a bar with big screens and hot buffet. No dress code and a pay bar.

Most folk in there are just like me, supporters who want a bit more than a seat.

I travel 160 miles to get to the ground, so I want more than just a pie and a bovril when I get there. I usually aim to arrive a couple of hours before the game just in case there are traffic problems. I don’t want to hang around Robin Park if I’m early!

I’m not sure the club have ever made that much from it either. It costs me £200 a season and £50 for my lad.
That’s slightly more than a tenner a game for me and just over £2.50 a game for my lad.

For that we get to sit in comfort, watch skysports and have a free hot meal. Oh, and there’s 50p off the programme price. In there you get the past players association (assume they get it free) and the mascots and families (also free). The rest just look like families, couples and groups of mates.

Practically everyone is in jeans and club colours (except for one or two forty somethings like me who feel it’s wrong for gentleman of our years to wear polyester).

Principles are fine and admirable, but often misguided.

That said, I’m absolutely certain the only criteria for the change is that fewer people can afford it these days and so more can be made if it’s turned into a public bar.

This might well turn into an own goal for the club, as with a public bar (serving food) then many paying President’s Club members will stop paying and just use this bar anyway.

The Utd keeper story could just be to keep Bolton realistic about Al Habsi’s price, or an agent trying to generate more interest.
