Don’t forget, we have Prince Harry in midfield. What about any other entrants for our lookalike / namesake team ?

He wanted to be a BASS player in a band, but ended up being a footballer

Did he ever have a good spin, cause I’ve never heard his tuna.

Been trawling & surfing the internet today, trying to catch more news after our recent haul of transfers. Not a single kipper !

this guy say`s he`s left us in good shape HOW`S THAT MARTINEZ were in the championship you`ve took the back room staff and left us with players out of contract who have now all gone YOUR A TOSSER Rant over .I like Coyles signing`s so far keep it up lad after what you`ve been left with anyone any thought`s

Best to bite your lip fella. Let’s hope that Owen builds a resurgent Latics and that Roberto looks back with deep regret. He only survived at Wigan because the fans truly wanted an all time legend and thus afforded him much more tolerance and patience than any other club would or will. If I’m truthful his highlights ( FA Cup Final apart ) were few and far between; and overshadowed by relegation. I’m looking forward to more exictement in one season, than we’ve had in the past four.

Now that he’s hooked and landed, is this the end of this thread.

    Le Fin

Or can we still reel out a few more lines !

Let’s keep it serious from now on, because my sides are beginning to Hake with laughter. However, I did hear that the deal was signed over a cup of Char with big Dave; no trout about it ! At least it’s good news and gives us a Ray of hope for the coming season; and he’ll certainly add a bit of Mussel to the squad; and better still, there’s still a few Squid left in the kitty.

So there you go Roberto; we will own our very own Academy & Training facility.

Looks like nobody is taking the bait, fella.

Leaving the DW Stadium on the 8th May 2013; the day after we got rolled over by Swansea. That adds a little bit of intrigue into my belief that DW was “happy” to let RM go.

Adds a little bit of intrigue to my belief that an out of work football manager who lives with within 20 miles of a premier league football ground is highly likely to go to a match at that ground on a Tuesday night rather than stay at home and watch Eastenders.

    Conspiracy theory rating: 0
Griffter, my good fellow; we played Swansea on the 7th May whereas LHL claims that Owen was spotted coming out of the DW the following day. And in his own words today he says “when I first stepped into the DW” I knew this is where I wanted to be; thus potentially and unwittingly giving us a clue that the first meeting of sorts, was at the Stadium. Conspiracy theory – yes definitely. Whilst Roberto might have been a “nice son to Dave”, you don’t necessarily want your “nice son” managing your football team. Dave strikes me as a boss that would demand more fire & passion from his key employees, so maybe that’s why he severed the umbilical cord.

What were the Wigan results against Bolton during the reign of these managers. I certainly remember getting tonked at the Reebok over Christmas 2011. Can anyone recall the positives that Roberto took from that game ? Was he proud of the performance; did we “grow into” the game ( by the 89th minute ).

To answer your question; Wigan only beat Bolton once in 8 encounters whilst RM & OC were in charge. That would be our last game at the Reebok, which I seem to remember we were hanging on for most of the second half.
I definitely think we have signed a good Manager who will balance the positives with criticism when appropriate; rather than searching for the slightest positive all of the time. Loved Roberto but I think he swallowed the Corporate Book of Speak and tried to apply it to football far too often.

Good bet that…us for promotion :cheer:

Not sure Everton for relly…16th for the next 2 seasons ;)

Got the Scousers worried at work; after 50 years of top flight football I’ve got them convinced that everything goes in cycles. Crisp tenner at the ready.

All that “Believing Stuff” came to no good.

I never thought we’d win the FA Cup – but we did. So it must have worked to some extent.
I never believed we would win a game last season never mind win the FA Cup.
I still have to pinch myself, and still haven’t got a clue how we managed to win it. If we are honest we were lucky to beat Bournemouth early on.
I think the players deserve tremendous credit for the way they performed in the last 3 rounds, and I suppose RM must have had some input, so well done Bob as well.
YES ! but what about a new Anthem !
How about “Move on Up” by Curtis Mayfield; upbeat, Northern and played at a lot of our games.

    How about Vinnie ?

Aye Good Ridance Lawrenson & Linekar. Both a waste of space; Kinekar is a snidey get and Lawrenson just hates us.
