I don’t know how everybody else feels but to me it’s a bit humiliating playing a Premier League under 21 team ,they should never have been allowed in the competition. Hope we play our under 18 lads.

With the backlog in league fixtures I have got zero enthusiasm for either of the Cup competitions. If we win either or both of them it just gives us another headache in trying to cram the fixtures in. We have to prioritise the league and if that means playing a team full of academy lads in the Cups so be it.

In that case it’s concentrate on the league ,try and stay on Sunderlands coat tails .They won’t like it !

Really think we should sacrifice the Cup competitions this season and play the under 23s and academy lads. Not expecting any help from the EFL with the backlog of League fixtures.

I don’t think a two week break is really going to help Latics. After tonight we will be three games behind Sunderland. Come back after two weeks off we will still have the same problem. We need the season to be extended but I don’t expect it to happen. I do think it’s odd that Accrington have asked for the New Year’s Day game to be cancelled. They played last night with covid cases and five first teamers out injured ,why did they not ask for that game to be cancelled ?

Makes it even more baffling why that game was allowed to go ahead last night.

It’s off , we are going to have one almighty fixture pile up.

They say do your best work at the end of a round, that’s what they’ll remember you for and that’s exactly what Cook did at Wigan.
I’ll never forget the sh1te/negative choice of subs, negative football and the Derby and Millwall away.
Cook had a six month golden period while at Wigan, as for the rest ?, utter sh1te

He got us promoted in his first season from league 1 and we also had a great FA Cup run ,he then managed to keep us in the Championship which is not easy , he then put together a side that played excellent football and for the second half of the season were the best side in the league and if that side had stayed together would have been in the promotion mix the following season. He got rid of a few bad eggs in the squad and created a real team spirit and still you are not happy , words fail me !

As I said, “working for considerably less £££”. He earned nowt between leaving Wigan and joining Ipswich, so he could have worked that time at Wigan for minimal salary and renegotiated once the takeover was completed, but he thought he was better than having to manage in L1, yet now he’s got a sacking from L1 on his CV, so how good exactly is Cook.

To Runcorn’s little dig – we are a 3rd division club with 3rd division players and a 3rd division manager, but play in an international standard stadium, train at a Cat 1 academy and have 25000 season ticket holders. Everything off-field is premier league standard. Everything on-field is pub-league standard. I agree that Klopp and Pep would struggle to get a tune out of this, and any other 3rd division squad, simply because they are 3rd rate players who play in this league because nobody higher up wants them.

Not sure you are right with that Mutty . Cook was clearly gutted that the brilliant side he had put together ( with Richardson ) in the Championship had been dismantled and sold for peanuts. That side was going places and would have been strong challengers for promotion the following season. I don’t think he thought he was better than league 1 , he just needed a break from football .

He should have stayed at Wigan IMHO, even though it meant working for considerably less £££. He had a chance to have become a legend, but instead he thought himself too good to build a club back from nothing, or maybe he realised that he wasn’t up to the task and could only work well when he was spending someone else’s money on players. He seems to have blamed everyone else, including the fans, for his 19 signings not doing the business at Ipswich.

Typical scouser – always the victim, its never my fault.

To be fair he did us a huge favour by resigning ,removing his substantial salary from the wage bill when we were in administration. I don’t think he thought Leam would stay with us .He clearly needed him by his side at Ipswich. We now have the benefit of Leam’s considerable potential as a top manager.

Get well soon Charlie ,already a huge fans favourite you are going to be badly missed on the pitch .However ,the most important thing is that you make a full recovery. Can only echo Jayt’s comments ,thoughts and prayers to Charlie and his family.
