Going to give Shinnie a few more games yet. This guy was Derby’s player of the season last season so he must have something about him.One thing for sure is he has got competition for his place so he has got to start producing soon. As for Magennis, he does not look 100% fit to me ,I would keep him on the bench to bring on last 10/15 minutes if things are not going well ,until he has built his fitness up.

I think the problem with Shinnie is that he has been used to playing at a higher level where the midfielders get more time on the ball. It’s going to take him time to adjust to the blood and thunder of League 1 football. You can see he is a good player and once he gets used to this League he is going to be a top player for us. I do agree that Max Power is far more effective playing in midfield for us. He is street wise at this level and offers more energy and aggression in that position. We now have Rea and McGrath so there is a lot of competition for places in midfield and that can only be a good thing.

I would add to that that Darikwa should not be played as a left back – the difference in his confidence was evident the minute he was swapped back to the right-hand side!
Sorry ,forgot to mention Darikwa. We can’t keep playing him at left back just to get him into the side. He is a different player on the right and should stay there.
It was just one of those days ,horrible blustery conditions ,not a great pitch and opposition that made things difficult for us.We got a point and a clean sheet ,let’s take that and move on to Tuesday night. I agree that Humphries should have started with Magennis maybe coming on off the bench. I really like Shinnie and I think he is going to be a top player for us. I get what you saying about Max but he does OK at right back ,I am more concerned with Darwika at left back .
I went to both days of the 1988 Centenary Tournament. Was sat next to Alan Johnson’s mum!
It was actually a great weekend terribly attended ,I don’t know why. I think we beat Sunderland and then lost to Sheffield Wed.It felt like there was about ten of us watching in that huge old stadium.
Wow Mr Goals! You must be goosed after writing that!
Let’s hope you’ll soon be our Wembley correspondent.
If we get to Wembley how many fans do you think we will take ? Pleased for the young lads last night but I have not been interested in this tournament from the word go mainly because of the Premier League teams under 21s taking part ,so I would be a bit of a hypocrite if I went to the final. Bearing in mind I have been to Wembley every time we have been there starting with the FA Trophy final in 1973 and including the Centenary Tournament in 1988 ( about a coach load went to that ).
Gutted I could not make it tonight.Got a funny feeling this game is going to be a lot tougher than we are all expecting.Hope the lads are up for it.Hoping for three points ,if not at least a point and we move on to Gillingham on Saturday.
Up the Tics !
Come on Phoenix, be positive and have faith.
Hope Liam delivers a more upbeat team talk
Sorry Lostock ,I should know better with this team. They never know when they are beaten .You are right about Leam Richardson always has the team well prepared ,he also made the right subs and tweaked the formation making us more of a threat ,good management .
Don’t know what I was worrying about ( phew !). Really glad Humphries scored hope he pushes on now ,he has the potential.Stockton has the makings of a top centre forward I think someone will snap him up before the window closes. Anyway a great win ,this team never know when they are beaten ,what spirit ! Up the Tics.
Play the under 23s ,the priority this season has to be promotion .We have so many games in hand we have to be sensible with the squad.Another big factor for me is that letting Premier league teams play their under 21s has de valued the whole tournament.
Just been reading his profile. He made his debut on the bench for Cardiff City as a keeper against Liverpool,he later switched to a striker.Could come in handy if ever we get a keeper sent off or injured.
Pity Bolton could not get something from the Wycombe game but we can’t complain ,five points behind with five games in hand not a bad position to be in .We just need to play some of those games in hand.
Cup Fever is very contagious, there is No cure for it,
a local Derby 5 goals and we score the Winner with a beauty.
You are right Springy ,great day yesterday.Took me back to the great Cup games at Springfield Park. Got to say I thought the crowd was a lot bigger than 9,900.I was in the West stand ,it’s a bit hard to judge how many are in the stand you are in but the East stand looked pretty full plus they brought about 4,000.
