Wasnt keen on martinez at the start, but whelan got what he wanted someone on the cheap, and something what the fans got excited about because he had played for us, Why they got excited was beyond me, bit like shearer, fans loved him but can he manage at the top end of football, ans no
I don’t think ive ever come across a more negative bunch than my own set of fans. Thankfully Griff you’ve already put a lot of good points across.
Seriously, what do all the Whelan haters really want? He’s took us from the brink of extinction in the bottom tier up to our 5th season in the Premiership, something even far more established clubs such as West Brom & Birmingham can’t achieve on bigger budgets. Were a small town, a small club with a fairly weak fanbase in comparison to others and we’ve been holding our own in arguably the best league in the world for 4 years. I remember when we could only just do that in Division 3. The difference between then and now is quite surreal.
Sure, we are clearly trying to make profits by selling out best players which from the fans pov isnt what we want to see, but this scouting system is good for the club on the pitch short term (provided we can keep finding them) and great for the club off the pitch long term. It beats bidding for players like Gavin McCann and Lee Carsley anyway. Add to the fact Whelan is trying to get us out the red, something most numpties in Wigan don’t realise seeing as they have no education, never mind business sense. Without trying to sound negative, we will get relegated one day, just as all clubs our size do eventually, so id rather see us without any debts and immediately be able to push for a return as apposed to a Leeds situation. With money having ruined football below the big 4/5 there’s only so far we can go, as bad as that sounds.
Right, so he took us to premier league and your happy with that? What happens now makes no difference, he took us to premier league so thats it. What do you want? Dont you want to see the club progress? Dont you think after 3 consecutive relegation battles we should be going somewhere?
Theres only so far we can go, but putting your players and managers in the shopping window, thats not too far. You would rather see us relegated with no debt than try to achieve what you pay your money for. Do you think we will pull the crowds in by advertising what you just posted, ”were only a small club so will get relegated.” Well if thats your ambition, no wonder the atmosphere at Wigan is rubbish. :? Very good post, trouble with some of our fans they have no ambition,We will be left with nobody in a bit, but as long as Whelans happy thats alright.Sad,but very true,
How many Premiership clubs sell their team every year.
If you’re happy with the way the clubs being run, good on you.Well said, The turnover in playing staff is laughable, but then again whelan always as a big turnover in staff at his other work places,
So you expect him to subsidise the club and then give you answers as to what’s going on whilst he’s risked millions on us and you’ve bought a couple of season tickets?Only in a football fan could someone be so irrational
Try 16 and we even got to watch the reserves for nought
I never said it was but their is a chance to ask him instead of spouting whale on here
Do you really think he would answer the question, when he as all his people to meet
Depends how you ask him. If you come across all Liam Gallagher – as I suspect you would – of course he won’t.
Try having a reasoned debate with him. I bet you’ll lose. Not because he’s right but because the first tim you don’t agree with him you’ll call him a c*** and you’ll look like a chump.
And he’ll probably refuse to sign your book
Wouldnt even buy his book, i know the end now i love myself i really do love myself
you really think he comes on here, and hes not creaming the club take a look at the transfers ins and out that would be a start,

It isn’t a policy it’s a necessity and anyone who tries to kid you otherwise is on a different planet
Stop listening to whelan, It was years ago when we had no money and we were getting nothing from the league, surely we can get better than the players we have brought in,
ffs pskl has ive said on other threads got a problem gooin see him int arcade when he’s signing his book
The book signing as nothing to do with wafc, Would be more interesting if he would call a fans forum, to tell the fans face to face whats going on , instead of speaking to the telegraph, saying that the fans are happy. make it happen jayt :)That’s right . We are the only casualty at the the first hurdle in the Carling cup out of the top flight !
Yep, and as the late, great Bill Hicks said:
“I’ll give you these four words. Yeah… and… so… what?”
Sums you up that quote, so what, climb out of whelans arse,It isn’t a policy it’s a necessity and anyone who tries to kid you otherwise is on a different planet :shock:Stop listening to whelan, It was years ago when we had no money and we were getting nothing from the league, surely we can get better than the players we have brought in,
Martinez will succeed if the players and the so called fans give him a chance.
It seems like some fans on here cant wait for him to fail then they can say I told you so.
Give him a chance. How long do you give him, and if the players are not behind him he may as well go now because he brought half of them.
Yes I can see your point but to me that will show who the actual proper fans are. Yes I am angry and disappointed, yes I wish we would spend some money but I will also stand by the club and give them my support at every game!I know what you are saying but we do need more support, but it will not happen if somebody keeps ripping a decent team apart and replacing them with…………….. well thats just it who,
”…the years even before whelan came ”?????????
We nearly went out of the League. We wouldn’t even be in existence now…!!!
Trouble is we didnt, and it was more of a family club, makes me laugh when club officials say its a family cub, load of shit, its mr dw club end of,
I agree totally, been watching wafc for over 20 years now, and always hoped that we could get in the top league, but what is the point,
