Aluminium was originally spelt and pronounced the American way before being changed to fit in with the convention of ending elements with ium. Coming from the Latin “alumen” for bitter salt, aluminum does seem like an appropriate spelling.
It was good until “Allez Les Latics!”
Bruges is in the Dutch speaking part of Belgium ;)
I had visions of thousands of latics fans singing and dancing in the squares, around fountains, but it may be
Spoiled by the weather…forcast rain apparantly.Looks like most of the day will be clear, with rain hitting a couple hours before kick off.
Him and Watson are the players I always cringe at when I see the teamsheet. Perch might be joining him.
Just not a fan at all of those players. Watson did improve when he went deeper when Powell came on, but that’s not saying much.
I suspect that James McArthur must have tried fiddling with Owen Coyle’s daughter as I can’t think of any other reason why he can’t in this team in front of half of the midfielders that have been getting a run instead of him.
It can be the only reason.
He’s twice the player Watson is.
For me, we need to go something like this:
McArthur-Powell
—-Gomez
Macca-Fortune-MaloneyOne of the worst goals I’ve ever seen us concede.
I take it you’ve not been watching us very long?
TBF its one of the worst defender goals I’ve ever seen by anybody. Its amateur stuff to concede a goal like that.

One of the worst goals I’ve ever seen us concede. There was nobody within 5 yards of him, at the back post from a corner. That’s just appalling.
I would think they’ll let us have more if we asked. It looks like their home crowds range from about 1500 to 2800.I was on the Maribor forum, and admittedly Google translation made it difficult to understand, but I got the impression that they were selling these mini-season tickets for the Group and they had sold 80% of them. Granted I could have completely misunderstood that.
For whatever its worth, Birmingham had half the stand behind the goal.
UEFA Regulations state that only 5% of tickets need to be allocated to away fans. That’s roughly 700 for Maribor.
Apparently, city centre hotel rooms are becoming harder to find now, as there has been quite a large demand over last few days…. Are we going to be taking 3,000 here as well???I hope not! We only have 700 tickets!
The club can’t just do a free for all for Season Ticket holders like they do they for most games. There has to be some kind of points scheme for this one.
I see that Espinoza (why did he get subbed against Forest?) and Beausejour both helped their teams to wins… they could very well be in the World Cup hat…Unlike our Scottish and Irish contingent.
Espinoza had a great game but I think he was starting to get fatigued. He hadn’t played more than about 30 minutes all season so Coyle was probably trying to keep him fresh.
3 of us going, including one whose passport arrived this very morning. That was getting a bit nervy!
Going to be a fun trip this ferry.
Keeping hold of mr Maloney a player who wants to be with us, if he had left I would have been distraught, mccarthy going I can live with that :)
For once Mr Wiganmon, I am in total agreement with you.
Shaun Maloney: the most gifted player ever to play for Wigan Athletic. My opinion, obviously, but I think I am right in my assessment.
Not too many would disagree with you. Now if Mr Coyle could realise that his best position is not stuck out on the right wing then that would be great.
I like the money we got, I hate the fact we have absolutely zero time to use it on a striker.
That money could have been the difference between promotion.
We’ve also been linked with Cameron Jones.
My thoughts on both are, well we really need a striker but these two are gash.
Cameron Jerome???
Him as well.
