Wow another pearl from the depths ….1 st manager in years to go 19 away games with 1 win !!

Are you utterly thick as pig s**t??? As bigroy states, the man kept us up. THAT WAS THE AIM FOR THIS SEASON!! How many times do you have to be told this.

In his first season as a championship manager, cook did get a lot of things wrong. This season has been a learning curve for him. If he does have anything about him he will have learned from his mistakes to take us further forward next season. However, he has achieved something that our previous championship managers have failed to do & that is to remain in this league. Job done! Mission accomplished & so on & so on.

But if I may, would you mind sharing what exactly your expectations of Wigan Athletic actually are.

This is Reece James’ first award of the season –

    https://www.wiganathletic.com/news/2019/april/reece-james-named-wigan-athletics-pfa-community-champion-for-the-201819-season/

    What’s next –

    Player of the season?
    Players player of the season?
    Young player of the season?
    Goal of the season?
    CL player of the season?
    Mayor of Wigan?
    Prime Minister?
    Next Pope?
    God?

The sky is not the limit for this lad.

I heard he is the favourite ahead of mo Farah to win the London marathon.

Hooray for Cup Winners…..a poster whose also not in denial that what went on this season before April REALLY did happen. As for otter ..season nearly over …hibernation time.

Sorry to butt in on your 2 man argument. What do you mean exactly by denial? Paul cook had the one job to do this season – TO KEEP WAFC IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP! He achieved that with 2 games to spare. I really cannot see what your problem is. Or has it not registered with you that Cook has achieved the ONE aim that our last few managers we have had in the championship have failed to do?

Those who expected anything other than a scrap to survive are living in cloud cuckoo land. You started the season with a squad who had largely yo-yo’d between the Championship and League One. You added a couple of players and all of a sudden you are going to be challenging at the top of the league? Get real!

The objective this season was survival. If that happens with a few games to spare, then great, and if that happens like it did against West Ham or Sheff Utd, then great. Either way, until this cycle of promotion/relegation is broken, then no progress can be made.

Cycle now broken, and you start next season with at least three teams worse than you (ie those who are coming up). Next season’s objective has to be a finish higher up the league than this season, or safety with 5-10 games to spare. If the owners don’t think Cook is the man to do that, now is the time to part company. That said, its not just co-incidence that the first time in three attempts that you stick with a manager in this division for the entire season results in survival.

    Very well said mutty.

Give it a rest Bigroy you tart!!!…For ffs ,75 % of the season we’ve been wank so don’t post your gobby shite here like some soothsayer who always knew we’d survive. We ARE aloud to post our alternative views in real time, unlike you morons who wait till we win then spew your bile…..and we know who your reach around buddies are don’t we ???

Nobody knew we would survive. But, & let me remind you once again, the aim of this season was survival. & guess what! Mission accomplished!

With our status as a Championship club now confirmed, i’d like to see Cook give some minutes to some of the stand out performers from the U18/Dev Squad.

Is there really any point in playing Clarke, Powell, James, Robinson, etc for 90 minutes in the next two games? Players who we know won’t be here next year.

The U18/Dev league is all but over and some of those lads deserve to know the club are serious about promoting our own. If we can’t do it now, when can we?

As garwood has already mentioned elsewhere, perhaps yes against Birmingham, but if millwall are fighting to avoid the drop come the time we play them, it’s very disrespectful to both millwall & rotherham.

Home form excellent. One thing that has to change is giving away leads. We have thrown away 26 points from winning positions.

Cook made a lot of mistakes away from home this season, but I am 100% confident he will have learned from these mistakes.

Given his transfer budget & the injuries we sustained earlier in the season, cook has done a totally awesome job IMO & he will be far better equipped next season. I’m looking forward to it already.

I’m just living in dream world with regards signing James. I honestly cannot think of a young player we have had since the likes of Peter Atherton with so much maturity beyond his tender years.

in reply to: Powell’s future #178386

    How about…………

Sell Powell & buy reece James????????

Brownbill you must feel a right prick! Stayed up comfortably having never been in bottom 3 all season. Couple of great performances against top two with Leon Clarke quality last few games. You might have noticed Grigg is on bench for Sunderland as their promotion dream lies in tatters whilst we’ve banked a few million. Hats off to Cook and the fans who have stood by him. You’ve been a disgrace on here the last month.

Calm down lad. We’ve played some absolute shite this season with shite team selection, tactics and performances. Just chill now it’s ok we are safe now.[/quote]

Calm down donny, & the rest. Cook has come good at the right time. Yes! He has made mistakes this season, & by God, some huge ones. Plus the injuries we suffered at a time when we were flying (tin hat on). But he surely will have learned as this season has gone on. I say well done to the board for sticking by him. He now has a seasons experience at championship level. Let’s see how much money the board will give us next season, plus these wonderkids we have, & I really fancy us for a top half finish next season.

Far be it that I should be complaining but the next two games will be a bit of an anticlimax.

    Enjoy sammy, just enjoy!

in reply to: Powell’s future #178335

I’ve a feeling he might be offered a new one, now our league status has been sorted.

We are staying up, say we are staying up. Well done cookie & co.

    in reply to: 1 from 4 or 2? #178329

Hopefully & providing rotherham lose, 1 more point should be enough.
