The likes of Accrington Stanley fans are amongst the best fans for me.
I saw a video today, of a song some folk have put together for Crawley Town’s cup run and visit to United this weekend. This may sound cynical, but i feel that half the people in the video will have never even watched them play, and will not care one jot about the club. They’ll take so many thousand to Old Trafford, yet give it a week or two when the furore has died down (unless they beat United! ) and they will be at home to Shepshed Charterhouse, or somebody, in front of about 300.
Yet you watch the TV people, they’ll be panning in up close on these lot at Old Trafford, with their hats and scarves, and coming out with “Their dreams come true” and such like. Yeah, ok…..Reminds me of the pay-off final at Wembley against Gillingham. Their PR guy – or whatever his job description was that day – was spouting they had 50,000 “fans” there. 50,000???
I should also add that my brother, who’s a die-hard Wigan rugby supporter and has never watched a football match at the JJB/DW, came down with us that day for the ride. It’s just media hype but many people buy it.
He also thinks he has the team he wants to get the 4 wins and two draws we will need out of the last 12 games.
:happy-cheerleadersmileyguy: :happy-jumpeveryone:I think you’ve made that up! :naughty:

You mean Haringey, don’t you?
Reminds me many years ago when we went to Stoke and a group of our supporters started singing “You’re just a small town in Port Vale…”
Or, “You’re just a small town in Villa”, which broke out as I was waiting to cross the canal bridge a few seasons back.
I think he was on telly a few weeks ago, and said he’s put around £150,000,000 of his OWN personal money into Wigan Athletic. Some ‘knob’ that.
Christ, I come on here and disagree with people, banter, and all that. But to call Whelan a ‘knob’ is a joke. Shouldn’t even be kept up on here. You could expect it from ‘them men’, but from us? It’s a disgrace.
Hurray! Dave posts something positive for a change.
You should do it more often. Having a pessimistic view of things is a bad thing. It can lead to depression and suicidal tendencies.
Another nervous breakdown?
The signs are not good.
Hi Dave.
Does your therapist know you are still posting on here?
Yeah but I live in Leyland !! I will be working in Longridge later if that helps ! :lolno:
Anything north of Standish is peasant country
Careful…… :shh:What about ” As shaky as a bloke who has been working with a jack hammer all morning having a w a n k on his dinner break ” !!!Yep, that would have done. More imagination than either me or the team last night.
shaky thing with Parkinson’s disease,
out of order son. :o
Apologies.
Struggling to find a suitable analogy.
What about ” As shaky as Shakin Stevens legs when he turned out for Fulchester United ” !!!
Not shaky enough.Don’t forget we are talking about the Wigan Athletic back-four here.

With Moses, N’Zogbia, McArthur, McArthy, Rodallega and Di Santo, I think we’ve got talent to spare in the final third. The problem is the back four. Only Boycey is any good, with the jury still out on Alcataz and Lopez. Figoera, Stam, Gouhouri and especially the Caldwells simply aren’t good enough. We need a stable back four but have hardly played the same four players twice. Where’s Titus when we need him? The best signing Whelan could have made this transfer window was Arry or Matt Jackson as defensive coach.Defensive coach? You can’t polish a turd.
But when your main striker has two clear cut chances to put you two goals in front and kill off the opposition, not even hitting the target in the process, what do you expect?
Looks taller than 5ft 10. I’ve seen a YouTube clip of him.The Kilmarnock website says 5ft 10 but Wikipedia says 6ft 1. I read he was 6ft 2 somewhere and from what I’ve seen that looks about right.
Maybe his size varies depending upon how long he’s been in the river.
The other issue in all this is N’Zogbia. Maybe he said he wouldn’t go back to Newcastle, so there was no real decision for Whelan to make.
someone touched on it on another thread – it would have been interesting to see whelans reaction if the offer had been made earlier in the transfer window – whelan is not stupid if he had sold nzogbia at such a late stage,he would have lost the fans support totally and you all know it.just remember whelan still has his prize assett and i think you may find that if newcastle came calling in the summer there would be no quibble on letting a clash of personalities get in the way of business.
Dammed if he does, dammed if he doesn’t then?
Signed from Kilmarnock, which is a plaice in Scotland.
