I already have renewed my ST even before I knew who was to be the manager
I cant remember a time where we appointed a manager which the majority didn’t approve. I think this is a terrible appointment on the basis that I can’t see him attracting the type of player to play our brand of football, which is disappointing because we spent 3 hard seasons adapting to the new style…only to be re-adapted to another style (very direct). The only silver lining I see is…..well, I cant!Poor, Poor decision in my opinion.
But I thought everyone on here thought our style was faffing about and that we need to play more direct? Didn’t they?
I’ll also add: Don’t judge comments on here as representing the majority. Previous managerial appointments pre-Roberto were made when message board activity was low. I don’t remember huge celebrations when Kenny Swain, John Benson, Bruce Rioch and Steve Bruce (second time) were appointed.
Some interesting statistics:
Coyle – games as manager 331, won 139, drawn 75, lost 117 – winning percentage 41.99%
Roberto – games 301, won 114, drawn 84, lost 104 – winning percentage 37.87%
For me what he did at Bolton is irrelevant in our situation. The important thing on his CV is taking Burnley out of the Championship.
People seem to be forgetting that’s where we are, and that’s what we need from a manager.
Cheers, Phil
I saw that. I wonder if it’s a realisation that we may get low crowds if we draw someone obscure and so shut one or more stands, eg south.
The only source I’ve seen for this by the way is BBC. Anyone seen any other confirmation?
Absolute disaster.I will not be renewing my season ticket. Players will want to leave and he will not be able to attract the right players. Just wait for the Burnley and Bolton rejects.Grow up.
“Will not be renewing my season ticket”. If that’s all it takes for you to throw a hissy fit then go and support someone else. United are doing well.
Does anyone find themselves completely underwhelmed by the candidates , what ever our differences on Martinez at least it was a roller coaster of excitment massive highs and desperate lows, perhaps we need some down to earth realism and a steadier ship, but the only thing that springs to mind with is its going to be ever so dull after the past 4 years.
Sadly, I agree with you!
I see steady times ahead.
Christ, this forum is going to get boring with nothing to argue about.[/quote]
It won’t
Good article.
My list includes George Best (better for me than Charlton, great as he was), Kevin Keegan, Gordon Banks, Johann Cruyff and Ronaldo (the fat Brazilian one)
I don’t give a stuff what he did at Bolton. He got Burnley into the PL. That’s the sort of manager we want.
I’m sorry LMB but I don’t really understand your point.
The debt that DW has converted to equity is debt to himself. He was owed whatever number of millions that he has lent/invested over the years, but has converted that to equity rather than “money owing”. So he now has whatever number of millions of pounds of equity in the club. If the club lose money then the value of that equity goes down, which will be his loss. If it had stayed as a “cash debt” to him, then that debt would still have had to be paid in full by the club.
He has effectively written off his debt to the club, with I think a very reasonable rider that if times get good then he has a share in that. Sound business for him if we do well, and good business for us either way.
You will all know soon, the press have been told to make space for an announcement press conference on Friday.
Is Brenda coming along?
We won’t be playing Premier League football
But they have to qualify – if just any one team is different then the make up is different.
