Oh right OK buddy.
Are you still in Horwich James? And do you still have really skinny arms?
Hope it’s true, another cock up by the club letting him go.
Decent no frills full back, i’d have him back tomorrow!
Thought he did OK and no more than that, why is he still a free agent having had trials with a string of clubs.
At the moment OK is better than shite, do these string of clubs that he has had trials with have names?
Not sure if he had trials or not, but he was moaning on Twitter how nobody was offering him a decent contract – and was blaming it on his clothing business, saying clubs think they can underpay him because he has a successful business and doesn’t need the money etc.I reckon his re-signing is going to happen. He’s retweeted a couple of tweets welcoming him back to Wigan.
Just on example of Caldwells diabolical Summer transfer window.100% certain if we had the below we’d have more points than we have now
Jussi
Wabara Pearce Morgan Warnock
Perkins Power
Mcann
Jacobs Grigg YanikProbably would have more points, but McCann leaving was nothing to do with Caldwell. We simply couldn’t afford his salary demands.
I don’t know why everyone is saying we should never have let Wabara go. He was a decent League 1 player as far as I could see – no more than that.
Not many would have had that team selection nailed on. Still don’t get playing Power, Bogdan and Powell when they haven’t performed yetthis season. Does he not watch videos/erm DVDs?There may be a possibioity that as he’s new to the job, he’s playing all his players so he can see what he’s got in his squad.
In the past 2 games he has played Le Fondre, Grigg, Davies, Wildschut, and Powell up front.
Looks to me like he’s still trying to suss out what his best option is.
Watching WBA and suddenly remembered Mcmanaman was there player but no sign of him. Another terrible waste. Anyone know what he’s up to? A possibility in January?Unfortunately I doubt we could afford his wages these days.
One point gl, the managers haven’t kept him on the board have. The managers have had no option but to work with him ……
Source?
Use your loaf,if he was such a shithot coach Whelan would have made him gaffer.
What is the one common denominator during our plummet from PL to Div 3 ?
Yup, Barrow.
Yes and he was also with the club when Martinez kept us in the Premier League and we won the FA Cup.The common denominator in our fall from PL has been sacking our managers.
How can Barrow have such a big influence on tactics etc, when he’s been at the club with Martinez, Coyle, Rosler, Mackay, an Caldwell?
You can’t tell me we played the same way under Martinez as we did under Mackay. Or that we played the same way under Rosler as we did under Coyle.
So to me that would suggest that Barrow has nothing to do with formation, style of play, tactics etc.
Like Garswood said, he must be good at something for the club to keep him on (they’ve not exactly been big on the loyalty stakes recently), and for every manager who’s worked him with say how important his role is.
But we do love a good scapegoat at Wigan and it seems that Barrow’s the latest one.
Why should it be more expensive on the day to watch the same game as someone who purchased a ticket 2 days earlier? And i’m almost certain the ticket office closes at 2pm on Saturdays and 7pm Weekdays (matchdays)
Because they love watching the forum, Twitter and Facebook meltdowns.
It’s helps pass the time during quiet spells in the office.
I get the impression Joyce doesnt rate Grigg.
From one game?
Some of our fans will have that impression of Joyce by now Standish.
People have every right to think that way, one question if you was the newly appointed manager would you have had Grigg on the bench against Reading?
You’re looking at this as a Wigan Athletic fan being appointed the Wigan Athletic manager, when in the real world Joyce had been with the club for 3 days, and therefore hadn’t seen much of Grigg.Grigg has scored 3 goals in the Championship in his career. Le Fondre has scored 42 plus 12 in the Premier League.
Based on that, you’d choose Le Fondre.
Also, Grigg’s been carrying a knock over recent weeks.
So armed with that information, what would you have done?
I get the impression Joyce doesnt rate Grigg. From one game?
All I’ve heard is it’s attacking football – and is usually entertaining.
I’ve also heard he prefers the 4-2-3-1 formation. So everyone wanting 2 upfront are going to be disappointed.
Looking good for us, he’s very well thought of, and the infographics make good reading.
For those who say he has no Championship experience I think I would rather have someone who has had success (a lot of it) at any level and a track record of developing young players (which after all is the business we are currently in, like it or not) than someone who has Championship experience, but that experience is of being regularly sacked.

I can’t say that it’s an appointment that is getting me excited or upset to be honest – it’s much of a “blergh” feeling
He is undoubtedly a very highly regarded coach who has achieved a lot in that role at United. However there is a world of difference between coaching some of the best U23’s in Europe that you’ve been spoon fed by others to managing an entire football club and appointing your underlings, appointing your scouting network & identifying the players you want to bring in (& release) and much more.
Time will tell if he can make that step up but many haven’t been able to, though many have as well – I hope he’s the latter but for me it’s way too early to say whether you think he will or he won’t be a success.
What the appointment is though, is a big big risk
More experience than Cadlwell upon his appointment though.I suspect Graham Barrow may again step up in an advisor role – and that should get the ‘Barrow is the problem’ movement lighting their torches and gethering their pitchforks yet again.
Warren Joyce lives and breaths football always has! No nonsense bloke who calls a spade a spade and his passion for the game can only be a positive for our club!Very positive post.
Who are you? And what have you done with the real Phil Moss?
Is it just me, by the way, who thinks that giving him a nickname that is based on a rather poor 1970s comedienne isn’t exactly giving us the aura of being a set of progressive and forward-looking fans?Ah come on Garswood. It’s not as if donnys page is prone to reminiscing about historical games and away days…..
Hartlepool’s Nathan Thomas attracting transfer interest from Wigan, amongst others according to Sky SportsAttracting interest from a club with no manager or no head scout?
I think this one might be an agent spreading rumours.
Mark my words on this, the new manager will be Sharpies 5th choice but he will say “we got our man” until we find out in a couple of weeks that another four knocked us back. He’s hardly likely to say to the press ‘Here’s our manager Blah Blah. He isn’t our first choice’.
