Photocopies were given out to the execs and sponsors prior to kick-off.
Logically, the opposition cannot score while you have possession. However, the nature of football is that you give possession away. And if you give it away in front of your own goal, it is likely to lead to an opportunity for the opposition to score.Yes, I’m loking at it in simplistic terms: you have possession and therefore can score at any point during that possession, but if you give the ball away, you no longer have possession, and cannot score. As simple as that!
Obviously having the most possession does not necessarily mean you will win or even score, but you’ve a better chance of doing so if you have the ball than if you don’t have it.
I think you will find that possession counts for fek aw, check our stats for the last 4 seasons. :woohoo:
Maybe so, but you’ve more chance of scoring if you have the ball than if you don’t have it.
Not really, especially when the majority of that possession is accumulated within 20 metres of your own penalty area.
What sort of fuzzy logic is that?If you don’t have the ball you are just as likely to score than if you do have it – How does that work?
Even if you only have the ball in your own half you’re more likely to score than if the opposition have it.
It must have been a fair old spat that Maloney had with Coyle. It’s put him out of the Scotland squad and the club are sending him to see a specialist – presumably one who specialises in pet lips and long faces.

This is a real tough one, but my overriding feeling is that it was a magical day spoilt by the football.Yes, the conditions were torrid and yes we have bigger priorities, and yes a point and a clean sheet are, on reflection, a good outcome. But, as fans we paid a lot of money to travel and watch our team compete, and just like Bob in the early stages of the domestic cups I feel we have been disrespected.
Most folks I spoke to were bitterly disappointed – not by the result, nor the players, but the manner in which Coyle approached the game. In the 2 or 3 moments we actually played football we were great, but to only bring on a “creative” midfielder and a bona fide striker with 23 min to go was frustrating to say the least.
We have one fit striker – hence why Powell was played. Bringing Fortune on was a clear indication that Coyle wanted the game won.
As for a ‘creative’ midfielder..who, Watson? Gomez started and he is by far our most creative midfielder.
We have a squad and it is going to be used.
The dilemma for Celtic is that they would like to play in the English Premier League where the broadcasting fees are so much bigger. However, if they did this, they would have to give up their automatic place in the Champions League. Celtic could hardly expect to compete with the top four/five of the Premier League.
Coyle may have been a Celtic supporter as a boy, but even he turned down their invitation to be their manager. He chose instead to stay with newly-promoted Burnley. He preferred Burnley to Celtic, and then preferred Bolton to Burnley. That must tell you something about the status of Celtic today.
I think Coyle’s decision to stay with Burnley says more about the state of the SPL and Scottish football in general rather than the status of Celtic.
Celtic play their home games in a 60,000 seater stadium. But it isn’t always full!
Celtic 2012/13 Scottish Premier League
Highest home attendance 60,000 v Juventus (12 February 2013)
Lowest home attendance 14,399 v St Johnstone (30 October 2012)Wigan 2012/13 Premier League
Highest home attendance 23,001 v Aston Villa
Lowest home attendance 15,436 v ReadingThat’s a little misleading (good old Wikipedia)
Celtic v St Johnston was a League Cup game. Their lowest attendance in the league was 40,000, and their average 49,000.
If you’re including cup games, Wigan’s lowest was 8,000 against Bournemouth.
Yes we’ve won the FA Cup; they’ve won the European Cup.
‘In 2003 Celtic were estimated to have a fan base of nine million people, including one million in the USA and Canada. There are over 160 Celtic Supporters Clubs in over 20 countries around the world.’
Forget the status of the leagues that the two clubs play in, and forget how much money the two clubs bring in (although Celtic have only recently dropped out of the Top 20 World’s Richest Football Clubs)
Playing in the Premier League does not make Wigan Athletic a bigger club than Celtic.
In the Premier League, Wigan are a small club playing in a big league.
Celtic on the other hand are a huge club playing in a miniscule league.
Please tell me you’re seriously not claiming Wigan are/can be a bigger club than Celtic.
Playing in a poxy cash-strapped one team league or not, Celtic are one of the most famous football clubs in the world, have a huge international fanbase, are in the Champions League every year and play their home games in a 60,000 seater stadium.
Being wealthier is one thing, but the size and potential size of a club isn’t determined on a spreadsheet.
Well thats him down in my estimation if thats all his ambition is. Only one more season and Rangers will be back.
Soon be having their fans calling off at New Springfield again for a brew. Why has he gone down in your estimation?
Celtic are the club he supported as a child, and even though the SPL is a poor league, Celtic are a huge club.
You normally don’t go through security again if you are “plane side” – you just head to a different gate.
We’re changing in Paris with about an hour turnaround.
Not true George, you go through passport contol and security on all transfers at CGD. Believe me, I did it every week for three years.
For European transfers though, you should be fine with an hour provided you land on time. However, whilst you might make it, your hold bags probably won’t.
It’s exactly the same as Charles De Gaulle….
Nice!
Did you hear about the dyslexic agnostic insomniac? He lay awake all night wondering if there really was a dog.
I realised I was dyslexic when I turned up a toga parts dressed as a goat.LMB’s day trip with Sport Options is now available online:

£285 – and can be paid in instalments.
For a day trip on a private charter flight, that’s actually very reasonable.

Incidentally, you’ve met our new club secretary. He sat a few rows away from us at Stoke a couple of seasons ago.
To back LMB up on this, the company underwriting this have 20+ years experience of operating flights for Champions League, Europe League and internationals. They are fully bonded and are THE biggest and most respected in the football travel business.
Definitely worth getting yourself onboard with this one.
