Well said jrfatfan I wouldn’t have had a problem with knumbnuts but its what he’s done ,we all know its football and people move on but if he loves our club that much leave us alone I still blame him for letting contracts run down and leaving us with so many out of contract with as he knows the season we have ahead tosser BUT we still r the champions MMmmmmmm
‘Knumbnuts’ ?
Irony at its finest.
Martinez wasn’t / isn’t the one who renews contracts. Other people in the club do that, and those people were well aware of contracts that were due to expire. But you can’t make a player sign a new contract if he doesn’t want to sign one.
Yes I’m disappointed that Martinez left too, but if you think for a minute that loyalty overrules ambition and financial interests, you’re wet behind the ears.
And as for wishing he’d ‘leave us alone’: Alcaraz was out of contract, Robles wasn’t even our player, and Kone was never going to play Championship football. Managers like to work with their own staff, so when Coyle was appointed it would have been odds on that he’s have gotten rid of Graeme Jones, Dennis Lawrence etc and brought his own people in.
I’m out of my depth with Salfords comments Scotlands a shit hole full of jocks !!!As opposed to Wigan: Beverley Hills of Europe and famous seat of learning.

I think it was more of a case of trying to make it difficult for the opposition without getting anyone injured or sent off, and I very much doubt if Coyle will use the same tactics during league games.
Coyle isn’t renowned for using long-ball; it’s not what he did at Burnley and he even got Bolton playing the ball on the floor.
Don’t panic Mr Mainwaring…
As much as I’d love him to do well and prove to a number of people that I know wrong, I haven’t yet met an Everton who’s given him any praise.
There seems to be a lot of Everton fans waiting for him to trip up so they can lay the boot in.
If things get off to a shaky start, I can honestly see it being a short tenure with an acrimonious split.
Pity.
About time the FA joined the 21st century – just a shame they’ve focused on a complete red herring, and now bought themselves at least another 5, probably 10 years before having to introduce any further tech.
How many times last season was there controversy over a goal crossing the line vs goals incorrectly allowed/disallowed for offsides, fouls, etc? The latter is where technology such as video replay is desperately needed.
The introduction of technology into offside & fouls would turn football into an absolute farce.
Besides which it quite simply wouldn’t work at all for fouls – There’s far too much interpretation involved in determining football fouls & I’ve run the line at games where a ref’s penalised a challenge that I’ve seen absolutely nowt wrong with.
You could have all the replays you want & it won’t settle whether a challenge is a foul or not for everyone who saw it.Then there’s the timing of it – if the ref thinks a fould may have been committed, at what point does he review it? Straight away? But what happens if he’s wrong & the team in possession of the ball have been penalised when they did nowt wrong? Does he wait till the next break in play? That could be several minutes away & if it was a foul does the clock get set back to what it was when the foul was committed?
I’ve heard it suggested that you could have someone watching the game & radioing down that a foul/offside has been missed. The ref would lose complete control of the game if the players thought someone else was making all his decisions for himleave it as it is
Bob on! Over the goal line or not is about as far as we should go, IMO.
And Sky would have nothing to bore us all to death with.
They’d need to find new material to pad out shows. Imagine how often Whelan would be on there.About time the FA joined the 21st century – just a shame they’ve focused on a complete red herring, and now bought themselves at least another 5, probably 10 years before having to introduce any further tech.

Cricket and Rugby League have natural breaks after a ball has been bowled/after a tackle. Football does not.I agree with you. They’d have to keep stopping play and it would ruin the game.
The Wigan CasinosI actually like that one.
Why?Beacause Wigan Athletic have chosen to move the game.
It amazes me how some people fail to understand the difference between having a conversation with their mates down the pub and posting on a public message board.
Unbelievable isn’t it?
Oh, and while you’re on. That rash has come back, so if you still have some of your ointment left, can I borrow it again? Thanks
Sorry to hear that. If it’s come back you’ll need to use stronger stuff than what I gave you last; one with more heroin in it. Go to Smiths Pharmacy, 232 Scot Lane, Newtown, Wigan, wait until the shop’s empty, ask for Joe and he’ll give you some from under the counter. Keep it to yourself though.
Thanks. I’ll pick it some up when I’m on that bank job with the renowned fugitive One Eyed Tony Thomson. It amazes me how some people fail to understand the difference between having a conversation with their mates down the pub and posting on a public message board.Unbelievable isn’t it?

We should get at least £15 for him.
I reckon the club will ask for £20m but will accept £10m
I’d have hoped for more considering his age, ability and potential. I’d prefer to keep him, but I suspect the number of midfielders we have means something’s going to give. You may be right. It’s not as if you’ve never heard ‘I won’t let him go for a penny less than…. oh go on then’ before.
As long as we keep Filmoss out of the negotiations we’ll be OK:-
Chairman: I’ll give you £15m for McCarthy.
Filmoss: Behave! He’s only worth £5m.
Chairman: You’re clearly pulling my leg. OK, I’ll give you £10m, final offer!
Filmoss: Rubbish! £8m, and he’s yours! Plus, I’ll clean your windows gratis for a year
With all these trips to music festivals in the States, I don’t think Filmoss does anyone’s windows gratis.Weren’t we linked to him prior to him signing for Sunderland?
Anyway, we’re slowly turning into Wigan Celtic.
At what point will ginger hair and a mono-brow become compulsory to enter the stadium? (sorry, could that be classed as racist?)
hail hail
Would love to see what would happen if the club introduced an orange away kit….WATP
That’s a story that should be included in a book. Do you happen to know of any book that would contain such a story?(Steps aside with a sweeping of the arms)
In the first two seasons of its existence, Hindley Celtic – a football club made up predominantly Catholic lads from Hindley – played in orange shirts.
